So much amazing arts being posted in here today. So envious of you guys and your artistic skills 

I got all stressed and emo after wandering too far from this thread, into the dark depths of Scuttlebutt with it's 'WORST GAME EVA. END OF BIOWARE' threads. *le sigh*

Also really don't like being told that my dislike of playing as a human in DA is all about me trying be cool, because it's cool to hate humans. Me? Cool? I spend my days squeeling over a bald elf and a mustached mage. That ship has long sailed. I just play a lot of videogames, almost entirely as humans. I like being some different, and an underdog. Screw you human privilege!   Plus, dat Elven Lore (even if our Lavellan's are a bit dense about it in the Temple of Mythal)

 

I've reached that game point my fellow Solas fans will know well. That not wanting to fight Cory moment. I've pretty much cleared every other part of the game though. But I... I...

I don't want my elven bro's to be apart from each other 

 

Come back to him Solas, and together you can, you can...rekindle the magic

Lavellan wants Solas to love all of her, including her past - Solas haunts places of the past and is of the past, though she doesn't know it. Lavellan wants a lot from him on a primal level, not just on the tides of lofty romanticism, and that place signifies both the grandeur and sorrow of all that has been lost as well as something primordial in their relationship, a point of connection that's in their blood. After the Well of Sorrows I would say that it's appropriate to be beneath a relic of something gone forever - and an appropriate place to be left stone cold to crumble, forgotten. It looked like a perfect, magical moment in a forgotten place to bring their relationship to a new height and instead it became an epitaph, as the place is, where they failed to forget the past and start something new. Or something like that.

 

Well, I was thinking along dirtier lines than this, but the fatalistic poet in me takes over whenever I try to analyze anything in-depth.

Solas' complete disgust with any sort of dominance seems like he would not want to be a Dom. More like a very long series of sensual acts with lots of whispers and praising. He seems like the type of man who would constantly praise you body with every word he knows. And use his mouth for more. And on days when they have endless time, he get's weird. Not like kinky weird. Yeah, I don't know how she is like in the game, but after reading some of the fanfics, I really really hate her. They've done a good job of describing cruelty.

Maybe someone needs to do a fic of her without making her completely evil XD

I definitely agree, it's a perfect location as it symbolises both Solas and the Dalish-born Lavellan being trapped between the past and the future.

 

Solas is unable to let go of his past mistakes and keeps trying to fix them, regardless of his own desires to perhaps give up and find peace with Lavellan, as well as against all the advice of some of his oldest friends (like Flemeth) who try to convince him to abandon his quest.

 

Lavellan and the Dalish are likewise, trapped by the past as they seek to emulate it in their own incomplete way, not realising that they are marking themselves with ancient slave markings and trying to restore a culture that in some ways, deserves to be forgotten in how it treated it's citizens. Instead of seeking to start over and find a new home for themselves, they keep themselves apart from the other races in Thedas and even ostracise their own kin for living in human cities.

 

And it also shows the dichotomy between them.

 

Solas champions the past, while Lavellan is (for better or for worse) a figure and symbol for the future.
