When graphics settings are set to ultra on the pc, everyone's skin look so dewy and well-moisturized. It's kind of amusing how you can put battle scars and wrinkles on them, but you can't have dry skin or acne haha. It can't be TOO realistic.

Its ok. Morrigan knows a thing or two about surviving the murder knife.

She's just passing the torch, One day that murder knife will be passed down to the next of kin.

Oh yes, I can definitely see Fen'Harel in him here!

And in this screenie too. He definitely has some Fen'Harel moments in this game that you just don't notice until your second or third playthrough.

I'm sorry I know I've shared this image before, but I just love it!

Oh man you guys I'm buried in snow here. Almost died a few times on my way home and all I could think was I WILL NOT DIE BEFORE SOLAS DLC BRING IT ON NATURE BRING IT OOOON

Listened to this in the car on the way home and got ALL FIRED UP, I imagine my Lavellan would like to listen to this as she plans her quest to find Solas.

Lyrics:

Spoiler

I almost died on the way home too! I thought NO! Want to go home and play Dragon age!

Also good taste in music.

I listened to Hozier on the way home and worshiping in the bedroom

Perfectly summarized. I've been trying to grasp at explanations to say that there was at least a little truth to all that the Dalish believe in and stand for, but DAI makes it soooooo hard. The ONLY way that any of this would become even remotely bearable is if at least Solas sticks with Lavellan and together with her creates something entirely new out of the elves....

...but we know how that ends. *dies* Now if we don't get a DLC to patch us up I'm not sure I'll ever recover. It's a perfect tragedy - it's absolutely perfect - but it's going to take therapy (or a great, great deal of sad poetry) to come out of it. At least that's my reaction to all of this at this point.

Hopefully we'll get something like Witch Hunt to tie up the lose ends with that romance.

To be completely honest, in some ways, Morrigan and the Warden left on a far worse note in Origins than Lavellan and Solas do here, because at least Solas just breaks up with you and vanishes before the relationship becomes uber serious.

With Morrigan meanwhile, you're not only sleeping with her and get her to overcome some of her issues regarding the growing seriousness of the relationship, but she then leaves you after having concieved a child with you for future shenanigans she won't explain, then you don't see her or the child until at least a year or two later?

So I'm thinking its always possible Solas might show back up in DLC to continue the story. Going back to DA2, it's no different than Isabela or Fenris leaving Hawke for three years between Act 2 and Act 3 after having their relationship freakout, before showing back up to later rekindle their romance?

I have a simple explanation for you, a plant based skin cream solution summed up in a single word:

Elfroot.

Well the Solas romance is worse because graphics and animations are a lot better now so it makes everything feel more real.

Hehe, first thing that comes to mind:

  • Blackwall: Elfroot. Do elves just call it "root?"
  • Solas: No, we have another name for it.
  • Blackwall: Well, that's no fun.
  • Solas: You spend too much time with Sera.

That's going to be my prayer to every deity ever conceived of until it comes out. It must! I agree, the Morrigan romance was kind of cutthroat in a way, but Witch Hunt! That was a great expansion on that.

This is something I've been meaning to ask in general..... I don't see any battle scars on my characters in the CC. Yes, I did make them strongly visible and played around with horizontal/vertical positions (that sounded so much better in my head) and I can't see scars anywhere! Anyone else have a problem like this?

Very true, still not forgiven him for hitting and quitting Hawke, yet able to have booty-calls with 'Bela with no problems.

(As well as totally Elf-blocking you if you want to sleep with Zevran.)

I'm surprised people haven't compared the dread wolf to Sif from dark souls.  I know I'm in the minority on this opinion but i would love to see an option (along with an option for happy endings of courselike the Sif fight for Solas. Especially if like how it was if you completed the Artorias of the Abyss DLC before fighting Sif and saved him as a puppy.  Like he fights alongside you during the big boss fight only for you to have to kill him when he grows up.  He cries at the moon before he's forced to fight you and its so sad.  Giant wolf fight? Awesome. Giant wolf fight with giant sword and feels? awesomer.

sif-the-great-grey-wolf-large.jpg

http://darksouls.wdf...-wolf-large.jpg

edit: autocorrect...

edit edit: The reason I make the comparison is because Sif was not evil, he was bound by duty to fight you and you had to kill him because circumstances.  He wasn't a villain, he was (possibly) your friend that you had to kill for reasons that were more important than either of you. And that's what made his fight so sad, and so memorable. I'm a sucker for tragic but good stories.

What if Solas is like Cole and Solas' amulet is his wolf necklace?

Solas talks to cole all the time about how to stay calm and focused. As if he has first hand experience.

Cole says that Solas HAS seen someone like him before, despite solas saying he has not. Cole is like "yeah but you have i just saw it in your head".

I definitely agree, it's a perfect location as it symbolises both Solas and the Dalish-born Lavellan being trapped between the past and the future.

Solas is unable to let go of his past mistakes and keeps trying to fix them, regardless of his own desires to perhaps give up and find peace with Lavellan, as well as against all the advice of some of his oldest friends (like Flemeth) who try to convince him to abandon his quest.

Lavellan and the Dalish are likewise, trapped by the past as they seek to emulate it in their own incomplete way, not realising that they are marking themselves with ancient slave markings and trying to restore a culture that in some ways, deserves to be forgotten in how it treated it's citizens. Instead of seeking to start over and find a new home for themselves, they keep themselves apart from the other races in Thedas and even ostracise their own kin for living in human cities.

And it also shows the dichotomy between them.

Solas champions the past, while Lavellan is (for better or for worse) a figure and symbol for the future.

Maybe that's the way you see. I can't see it that way.

I personally admire what Solas and the Dalish are trying to do, even though I think they're mistaken in how they're going about it.

My answer to their struggles isn't "the past sucks and you shouldn't waste your time trying to remember or fix it. You should just forget about it and move forward without it." I feel that's throwing out the good with the bad. My answer instead would be would be, "Tread with caution. Stay flexible. Keep an open mind. Be willing to ask for help when you need it, and/or accept help when offered. Be willing to alter your course when you come across new obstacles and/or new information instead of trying to charge blindly through." But then you can say that about any endeavor.

(Besides, every culture in Thedas has negative aspects of itself worth forgetting, not just ancient Arlthan. The Chantry, for example, has encouraged magic-phobia against mages, racism against non-humans, sexism against men, and fundamental religious intolerance by branding all religions besides their own "false, heathen, and savage" for centuries. Should we disband the whole Chantry and dismiss it as "deserving of being forgotten"? Or modify/reform it? Maintain the good while fixing the bad? If all Thedas empires/nations/societies/cultures have flaws, I think the elves deserve to have their own rather than the ones that others push on them. As Merrill tells Anders: We have our own stories. I don't need to borrow yours.)

Besides, the Dalish can show a bit of flexibility on recovering the past. When Solas reveals what the marks meant in Arlathan, Lavellan can basically respond, "Whatever they were used for before, the Dalish have reclaimed them. This is what they mean to us now." And Solas will admit that despite what he's said about the Dalish, he admires that indomitable spirit.

And that's why my Lavellan chose to keep her vallaslin. She got it to honor her heritage, and she still thinks it's a heritage worth honoring, even if it's not worth replicating down to the last detail. And how would she know there were details not worth replicating if she didn't learn about it? She believes in learning about the past and educating the Dalish as much as possible and letting them decide for themselves which parts of the past are worth keeping and which parts are worth forgetting; which they can't do if it's all forgotten.

EDIT: *phew* All right, I've said my piece. I'll drop it and leave it alone now.
