I wonder if the ears gave Lav away (so to speak), or he's able to "feel" their blood. The latter might also explain why he adresses Solas as "one of us".

I don't think sensing other Wardens is something so exact that they can pinpoint people to that extent.  With how many Wardens were in the vicinity I don't think they'd sense the lack of the taint in Blackwall.

 

I was under the impression that they can tell if Wardens are near based on sensing the taint. I am guessing that Darkspawn would feel very different, and a lot stronger, than it would in a Warden.

Well that's a theory no? It's hard to pinpoint because we never get a clear answer. Back in DA:O when we were collecting the vials of blood, Alistair just tells us that all Grey Wardens can sense the Darkspawn. Then in DA2, Anders says he can sense the Blight in Bethany, and that he can maybe sense either the Wardens or Darkspawn nearby, so there's no distinction.

Yeah but why would any of those Wardens in that moment, with everything going on, try to sense the taint in Blackwall?  I think they were all quite distracted at the time.  I'm just saying I can understand totally why no one went "hey he's not a Warden!"

Yeah definitely the fake Calling had a lot to do with it probably.

So... I just found out that "breaking up" with Solas after the first kiss after the Fade (agreeing to be friends) doesn't end his romance.  He still brings up the kiss after his personal quest, saying he hasn't forgotten it.  What the hell, Solas.  I was going to go for Cullen, now I can't because you're too cute.  (This also goes against any argument that Lavellan pushed for a romance.  She AGREED not to pursue anything, and he still pushes for a relationship O.o)

Yeah definitely the fake Calling had a lot to do with it probably.

No I don't mean the Calling.  I mean the sacrificing their brothers in arms to bind demons.  The chaos of all of the fighting with the Inquisition forces.  Erimond and Clarel, the Inquisitor trying to talk Clarel down.  Tensions were high.  That's a tad distracting!

Yeah, I was a little surprised when he walked back to Skyhold and told her that she mattered to him (since I didn't have the flirt to tell him he didn't have to mourn alone).  I was thinking, "Woah... he cares about her even after they agreed to be just friends?  No... it can't be..." and then there he goes bringing up that kiss again.  He really can't let Lavellan go and that first kiss apparently had a big impact.

 

After she agreed to just be friends, he had thanked her and said he'd always remember a surprising moment stolen in a dream.  It definitely changes the romance a little too.  I like it.

Just an idea: Because she is not supposed to know. Mythal directs the voices. One of the cutscenes at the altar on the no-Kieran-path states it clearly: the voices direct Lavellan and Mythal directs the voices ("clever girl"). Mythal has complete hold over her now and decides what she will hear and what not. It is not full disclosure and knowledge. It is Mythal lifting the curtain just at places, allowing for small glimpses of wisdom as she sees fit. So if Mythal keeps Solas' identity secret (and that does not seem too surprising, as we do not know their history), Lavellan will not know. And, seriously, if that happened to me - the Fade conversation between Solas and the Nightmare and whatever else - I still would not assume that the guy next to me is an old god. Really not.

Hmm... I haven't played a No-Kieran pt yet, so i haven't seen that. That's interesting. But Mythal hasn't seen Solas with the Inquisitor, so how does she... oh, right. The Well. That's how she knows where Kieran is during a dark-ritual pt. if you had Solas with you in your party she would have found out then and decided not to tell because she knows what his ultimate goal is... I just wish we did!

 

Or if he would recognize Fen'Harel in this particular guise.... yet, it is curious that Abelas somehow spots that he's different. What gave it away, I wonder? And if something gave it away, why did he not jump to the right conclusion?

 

It could just be a random thing that Solas suddenly garners his respect, buuuut.... that's a shady answer to me.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Abelas recognises something in Solas. Maybe Solas, as one of the Elvhen, has a slightly different... idk, aura?... about him that is different to modern elves?

 

Yeah true OR that other theory about Fen'Harel taking over his body. Weekes never said if Solas is physically Fen'Harel or if he co-exists with Solas in the same body.

You know, I'm sort of half-way between Solas' body being his own, and a co-mingling with Fen'Harel's soul theory as well. Both have very interesting implications as to what it actually means to be a god. I would love to explore that in far more detail.

Given that he can be the one to flirt first with Lavellan in saying that he wishes to see her indomitable focus dominated (i.e. he wants to steal her attention and have her thoughts be on him) - I think he fell fast and he fell hard.

I find some kind of bitter irony in the fact that it starts with him saying he wants her to be distracted/to give him her attention - and ends with him saying he won't distract her from her duties again. It's like... the circle is closed.

That is the exact reason I rolled a Trev'Quisitor when I decided I wanted to see the Cullen romance.  I know there's no way I will ever resist as a Lavellan.  That chuckle, and the hand grab.  I'm a lost cause long before I get to Fade tongue.

I have to admit, if Solas didn't have a gendergate, it would be like DA2 all over again, where I romance nothing but Fenris forever. (No complaints, tbh.)  But now I have another problem.  I was set on my male Lavellan romancing Cass, but it's been real slow going (Solas spoiled me so much haha), and meanwhile, Dorian is turning on the charm over 9000.  I'm getting flashbacks to my solitary Cousland I made to romance Alistair that ended up with Zevran.  Stay strong, Dudevellan, stay strong.

Solas' unrequited love for Lavellan...how much effing sadder can it get?! I literally cannot do it anyway, but even if I felt that I could romance someone else as Lavellan I'd never do it, because of that. I'm sure we all know that pain...

Zev is one of my favourite DAO companions. So many people dismissed him as shallow, when there's so much more to him. As for Dorian, I didn't expect to like him as much as I did. He surprised me, in a good way; I wasn't interested in him at the beginning, but he won me over over the course of the game.

My first PT, Lavellan, romanced Solas.  2nd, Trevelyan, romanced Cullen.  I started 3rd and 4th around the same time as 2nd.  3rd is Nightmare Lavellan, yup Solas again (still working on it).  4th is Adaar, romancing Bull, but I am putting it on hold for now.  And then I have I think 2 more Lavellans.  It's just gonna be even more Solas.  It's terrible.  You'd think the heart break would steer me clear of it, but nope!

 

I want to do a male PT, hopefully soon.  I am just sooooo torn on whether I romance Cass or Dorian.  I love them both.  I've never done a m/m romance before so I am leaning towards Dorian.

 

I was stuck on Alistair forever in Origins.  DA2 I think I romanced Anders and Fenris pretty equally.

Bless you!  I wish I could Like that more than once.  Think I have been a fan for 20 years now.  Only musician that has stuck with me since I was a teen.  (shhh I am still youngish, only 34!      )
