The room near Cole is Bull's, if a certain scene is to be believed.

Oh thank you, I figured Cole probably didn't sleep, and honestly wasn't sure who slept there.  ;)

I'm starting to think you are all much smarter than me... So, when I imagine I were my Lavellan... I meet that guy, looks just like your ordinary monk from next door, tells me he's travelled the Fade and seen the most curious things, studied a lot, went many different places... never really had many friends, too, thus having a lot of time for doing all that... discussed with demons and spirits, just sucking up every bit of knowledge he could possibly come across. Never heard of such people before, but then again, I have also never met a movie star or a Roman legionnaire and still know they exist(ed). Now, that guy has seen that orb somewhere, it is Elven, old, somehow magical. Much more he does not know though. It must have been what opened the breach, because what else could have had such power? And so on and so on, Skyhold, blah.
So, honestly, my first thought would not be "Gosh, he must be an Old God!" I might rather think "Kind of nerdy... damn, I wish I had such knowledge. Certainly impressive at every party or game show". My boyfriend can tell me a lot of things each day that I did not know, simply because I never cared to learn about them while he did. But it has never occurred to me that he might be an Old.... wait.

Seriously, was I really the only one who had been surprised by the ending after the first playthrough? Did you all see that coming?

I don't know, he just...seemed to know more than he let on? And the bits of body language and breaks in speech also tipped me off.

"He's lying about something. He didn't even look at me when he was telling me about his journeys through the Fade. ...Wow, he sounds...homesick when talking about Arlathan. ...Holy ****, am I right? Is he an Ancient Elf?"

*friend spoils Solas for me*

"...I did not know what I was asking for." and then "HOLY ****** **** HE'S THE DREAD WOLF OMG WOLF GOD SEX."

I have odd insight into people. My mom says I "sniff out" the liars and then analyze them like hell. I also get a sense of a situation before anybody else does, and pick up on small mannerisms. Apparently that little quirk extends to pixels. XD

I don't have the actual dialogue but I'm pretty sure she says something along the lines of "Cole, how many times have I told you to stay out of my quarters." She is a Nevarran princess, even if she doesn't like it, I'm sure Josephine gave her actual quarters (similar to the Inquisitor's). Maybe she just doesn't like it there?

Edit: She says:"Stop going into my quarters. How many times must I tell you?"

Perhaps she has official quarters, but doesn't sleep there, I could see that.  But I think it could be either way, it's practically like a little room she has up there in the armory.  It's still better than Solas' couch and Cullen's roofless room (I'm not sure how he doesn't die of exposure).

Oh not in the slightest. My first playthrough was a quick one so I never went into too much detail with everything. Even if I had, I still probably would have walked away with 'hes a bit odd.' Most of the time I bought his 'Because The Faaaaade' excuse.

I knew he had something to do with Cory getting the orb though and I thought he was running with a master like Felassan in TME. I had all these theories about what he was really up to. Yeah, not even close to the truth of who he really was. The ending gave me several hundred small heartattacks of surprise.

Totally worth it. Best moment EVER.

@Oswin: That was my moment too. I was really confused, like...uh...but...the Wardens are supposed to know all about Darkspawn and keep learning about them. In Ostagar's camp, you see a warden teaching soldiers about Darkspawn. Alistair tells the recruits that Grey Wardens sense Darkspawn. Then at Adamant, the Warden-Commander knew about Corypheus, and Blackwall - a Warden Constable - doesn't? And you come across notes from Grey Wardens about Darkspawn all the time - they catalog everything.

Okay. Yep. I get why I dislike him now. Awesome character arch, dislike him personally. Thanks y'all!

That with Blackwall had also really surprised me in the first playthrough, like Solas. Had not seen that coming. His evasive behaviour did strike me as odd, but then again I attributed it to both personality and that secretive Wardens/joining ritual/dying after 30 years/no one must ever know/we keep it secret even from recruits-attitude that had been such a big issue in Origins. Paired with his hints that he had been a criminal before joining (possibly not too educated as well) I did not expect him to be a fake Warden. I did not much like that I had never heard of Thom Rainier before... felt like a detective movie with the killer being someone completely unknown, who shows up for the first time when being arrested. But apart from that I felt it was well done. And that's the thing about good stories anyway; first time around you get the surprise, second time around you get all excited because you notice all the hints dropped throughout the story.

Or... I am simply horribly naïve.

Blackwall totally blindsided me.  It was actually bugging me a lot that he wasn't hearing the false Calling like the other Wardens, something felt off...  But I just never considered that he was fake.  Afterwards I was kicking myself for not seeing the obvious answer.

I have yet to have the same cutscene with Blackwall on a playthrough.

He's so frustrating, stop being a chameleon!

Blackwall I wasn't expecting but I knew his secret before I got too far in my playthrough. It was spoiled for me.

I knew about Solas too but that's because I decided I wanted to know everything about him as soon as possible so I knew what I was getting into. We were getting questionable information and rumors for the longest time and I'd been following every tidbit of information about Solas for nearly a year at that point. I just wanted to know!

What's funny is that people had guessed long before, around the summer time, that he might be the Dread Wolf (when we found out the wolf jawbone thing along with Chris Priestly's comment that Solas was THE character that would be remembered) but we all kind of wrote that off as too ridiculous eventually. A lot of us knew he was more than he said he was, though. I think most assumed he was an ancient elf.

I really want to know if they thought of a lore reason why elf toes didn't fall off from cold when they decided to make them go barefoot. At least with Solas we can assume MAGIC!

Oh, by the way, because someone asked a "few" pages back - it is possible to flirt with Solas up to just before commitment (the scene where he asks about being changed by the mark), then follow another romance for awhile, break it off and go back to Solas, continuing that romance. As long as that Solas balcony scene is not triggered during that other relationship and the Temple of Mythal is not visited, of course.

First it's like I LOVE YOU SOLAS!

Then it's WHAT DO YOU MEAN?

Then it's I HATE YOU SOLAS!

Finally it's I LOVE YOU SOLAS! all over again.

At least, those were my thoughts when my Quizzy romanced him.

I was actually much more suspicious of Blackwall than I was of Solas, by whom I was totally disarmed.  Solas must have been like, Wow, what a chump, I can't believe I kept a straight face the whole time.  Maybe I should try and sell her some real estate in Emprise du Lion, &c. &c.

I stopped doing such things many years ago. I never follow any information prior to playing/watching/reading. Everything is totally new for me and I discover while playing. This way, they can actually still surprise me. :-)
But, obviously, it also means that I do not know a lot of things... like everything from the books etc.

Well...there's a chart of racial characteristics that was released shortly before DA:I, with "adaptable to harsh climates" under elves.  The whole elven "adaptability" thing being brought up again was really interesting to me.

How exactly does he react? I opted for not drinking in my first PT and I'm still too far in others. I presume there is a difference between if he's your LI or not, too? Taking into consideration, of course, that I never got an argument out of him for supporting the Wardens, either, despite his disapproval. Apparently he was supposed to chastise me on that choice at least.

Solas: I begged you not to drink from the Well! Why could you not have listened?!

Inquisitor: Solas...

Solas: You gave yourself into the service of an ancient elven god!

Inquisitor: W-what does that mean exactly?

Solas: You are Mythal's creature now. Everything you do - whether you know it or not - will be for her. You have given up a part of yourself.

Inquisitor: You don't even believe in the ancient elven gods!

Solas: I don't believe they were gods - no - but I believe they existed! Something existed to start the legends! If not gods- then mages, or spirits... or something we've never seen... and you are bound to one of them now.

Solas: I suppose it is better you have the power than Corypheus. Which leads to the next logical question: what will you do with the power of the Well once Corypheus is dead?

I was actually deeply suspicious of Solas after we got to Skyhold.  Then after Adamant/The Fade, I was on high alert for weirdness.  I was totally blindsided by Blackwall.  I was like 'wow. what a poorly written grey warden. god this guy sucks. does he even care about what's happening?'

I knew Solas caused the breach after the first conversation with him. He had Anders written all over him. Dreaming of a world without the veil, uh-huh. I know what you did, Solas...

But I had no idea why he did it or who he was. Then I unfortunately read a spoiler about him being the Dread Wolf halfway through the game *sigh* So I'll never know if it was that obvious. It seems REALLY obvious in retrospect. Wolf statues everywhere and the friggin mural on the walls!!!

I probably would not have seen it coming though because before DAI I never cared for the mythology AT ALL. In fact, I had no idea that the games were actually ALL about the gods, lol. I was such a naive idiot and thought Dragon Age was about the mage/templar conflict and all the other SOCIAL problems in current Thedas. I loved THAT stuff. And I treated the mythology as added flavor for the lore nerds. Yeah, really. I could not imagine a game being this complex, having such an amazing mystery build up slowly in the background. DAI was a total eye-opener! Suddenly I was presented with all those marvelous connections, suddenly it all made sense!!! ;D I can't believe how fu*king brilliant this intricate spiderweb is that Bioware has crafted! The more I think about it, the more I love Inquisition for dropping that bomb that everything I believed about Thedas was wrong, how everybody in Thedas was wrong. Everybody was blind, including me, but now I see and it's beautiful!

I am so disturbingly oblivious sometimes when I don't know what I'm looking for. I love to analyze the **** out of characters and storylines, but I need to deliberately look or I miss the show entirely...
