Crushed expectations could also be that solas could be arrogant and prideful much like his name, rather than reserved, intellectual dork, or it may perhaps be the fact that each character looks a little different from what people expected? Some were crushed that sera was pale and had short hair, cole has a mop for hair and looks like a living zombie, and that solas is bald with tight jeans and a bottle of bees? (though the bees were always awesome)

 

Outside of joking, I seriously think it may have something to do with their past or backstory or with one another.

My guess is team "Crushed expectations" are all people who sought out the person who survived the fade with ideas that they knew why they survived and had some amazing abilities and could save the world in like a day.

 

It did not work out that way.

I feel like Sera, Cole and Solas might be the three "green" companions. They aren't formally trained, nor are they high level mercenaries or someone, like Varric, who knows exactly what it's like to be operating at the center of All the Chaos. Sera just wants things back the way they used to be, Cole just wants to help people, and Solas probably gets involved because of simple curiosity, or because he knows better than anyone what could happen if the Rift isn't closed and he feels obligated to be close to the action. I could see them being unaware of, or at least naive, as to what their participation in the Inquisition will entail (lots of travel, annoying squabbles that really should be set aside in light of THE END OF THE WORLD, hard choices, compromised ideals, and a boss who is strangely obsessed with rummaging around in broken crates (and corpses)).

I think that tweet could mean that we/they expect them to get along and turns out they don't? Sera and Solas are both elves but maybe that's all they have in common. I could see Sera caring about the city elves and Solas not. He doesn't look like a city elf to me. Although I was kind of expecting Solas and Cole to be BFFs...

At some point in our "Solas might not be an LI" blasphemy speculation I said my Inquisitor would pine for him if he wasn't available, but what if it was the other way around?  Don't be sad, Solas, she wants you too   (I didn't have time to do anything but a messy sketch tonight and the proportions are all wrong, so don't look too close! )

Anyways, I'm really glad that that tweet wasn't hinting at Solas's non-LI status. He's not currently at the top of the list of characters I want to romance, but if he turns out to have as nerdy a personality as I suspect he could have he'll be skyrocketing to the top very quickly.

I think we may find that Cass is a lot more open minded and less dogmatic now.  It is hinted that she is going through a bit of a crisis in faith in view of the big boom, so she might welcome being able to talk through her issues with people who are reasonable and open to discussion, without them constantly wanting to start a fight about the Chantry.   If Cass, Cole and Solas are the representatives of intelligent, rational and thoughtful debate, then I say Halleluia!    I'm thinking it would probably be a case of Cole asking about something and then Cass and Solas respectfully giving each side of the argument, with Cole possibly asking further clarification.   I do hope so.   Big personalities in conflict can be amusing up to a point but it would make a change to hear various viewpoints without people constantly bickering and condemning the other side.  

 

You don't have to be a push over just because you are not a big flashy personality like Vivienne and Dorian.     With Solas I keep thinking "Still waters run deep".   May be he is even a big Spock like.   He has learnt to keep his emotions in check because he knows that violent emotion attracts demons and pulls them through any weaknesses in the Veil.    So it would take a lot to make him visibly angry but Maker help you if you do.

Aaawh Ispan that art is so sweet, if he's not romanceable I want that to happen now definitely But about team crushed expectations, didn't they say that Sera refused to talk to Cole? So maybe Solas tries to bring the two to talk together and finds his expectations crushed? Or.. something like that at least, I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the relationship between her and Cole.

Please I can't seem to link into the original Tweet about "Crushed Expectations".   However, if it's something to do with Sera, Solas and Cole, I'm thinking it has to do with the fact that Sera won't even talk to "It", meaning Cole.   For someone who says she is all for the little people, that might prove very disheartening to Cole.   Then Solas tries to get her to talk to him, may be using his Fade expertise to explain why she should, and gets rebuffed as well.   I certainly found my expectations about Sera crushed when I read about her reaction to Cole.   But then I'm a Cole sympathiser.    If what PW says about Cass, Cole and Solas is true, that is excellent news to me.   Just the sort of party I am looking for when a specific person isn't recommended - like taking Dorian to fight Alexius.

I have to say I'm really tempted to go with Cassandra, Cole and Solas for my first run because of the tweets, but I don't want to miss out on Varric. From what I remember he was always in my party in DA2, but I adore Cassandra and I'm so curious about Cole... Dang it the game isn't even out yet and I'm already making tough decisions...

I'll probably change my party quite often(and coin flip a looot while I'm at it) because I like them all.
But I'm really Intrigued about Solas and Cole because of their connection to the fade and Cassandra' always been on of my faves.So I think they're going the party I'll use the most at this point.
