Lol, this angle of the kiss was done with the flycam I'm guessing? Someone really wanted to see how it looked like. I'm just glad that their faces are not clipping into each other.

I like this angle actually it looks like she just kissed him on the corner of his mouth. Its kind of adorable

Sophia Dryden was an abomination too.  Well I think she was anyways.  Or was she just a possessed corpse?

Anyone can accept a demon's offer, it's just mages are at the most risk because of their direct link to the fade.  Plus circle mages are forced to put that to test with the Harrowing.

The blood mages in DA2 are the first that I remember that were forcing demons into people.

Basically anyone can become an abomination, not just mages.  But that's gonna start a totally off-topic discussion so I will shush! :P

Wondering of topic every once in awhile is fine! As long as you leave a bread crumb trail to get back :)

Cullen... is stealing this Lavellan.

*bemused*

I do not understand. Part of me is shrieking 'WAT? Even after Fade tongue?' And the other part of me keeps staring at Cullen's hips in those leather pants and that scar and cheering her on towards the HEA love.

Aww Welcome to the Solas Recovery Wing.

Have a Solas

tumblr_ni0i94dgKH1ti6f3so2_400.gif

Wow he really leans you back. And it looks like he kisses her chin and then moves to her lips from this angle!

In return, she punches her fist through his chest. All in all it's what a perfect first kiss should be.

Wait where is this? This doesn't look like the kiss in Haven.

Here is a scan of the elf lady with the similar 'hair' as the stag guy has horns:

Spoiler

ah yeah I see that now, it's in the demon design section....maybe she was an alternate design for a desire demon? kind of an interesting idea to portray an elf as a demon...or maybe she's some other kind of demon that we haven't seen yet...sometime to do with growth? like an angry mother nature?  or wait, like the lady of the forest?  OOOOOH maybe the Lady of the Forest was going to make an appearance but it was scrapped because she's dead in a lot of playthroughs?

Whoa, that's interesting.  Then again, whoa- they still have the conduit.  Kind of.  Templars have the hole where the fade-shadow should be.  The connection, without anything there to actually draw on.

Like Kieran says:

"They feel older than they look. They've been changed, and their bodies are incomplete now.  The lyrium helps, but their bodies always want to connect to... something older. Bigger than they are. That's why they block magic. They reach for that other thing, and magic has no room to come in."

If I recall correct, that is a dialogue from Cole, if you ask his opinion on the Templars.

Not sure! Could be any of those things. It would be really cool if both of those might be designs we might see in future content, but that just might be me being optimistic. It does seem like a rather dramatic, powerful looking design.

I did not notice the hand in chest clipping. Cannot un-see.

That flower makes me wonder if the original concept for the stuff in Arbor Wilds included these demon designs.

Or like someone else said could be future content.  Which would be great, I like these designs.  Creepy but not as unsettling as the Envy demon and the Terror demons.

Tree-Halla Guy reminds me of Varterrals. They're an elven construct of people, trees, and whatever else ancient elves used to make their own golems with. It's not very clear with the one you fight in DAO, but the concept art shows more defined body features like legs, head, etc. They're supposed to be ancient guardians of elves and their temples.

If elves could make those, why couldn't they also have Tree-Halla Guy and Demon Flower Girl as other creatures they created? Maybe Ghilan'nain has something to do with those, or maybe June with his craftiness. Zathrian bound a wolf and a forest spirit together. Those guys who were in Amgarrak tried to bind a spirit from the Fade into the body of a flesh golem.

Ancient Elves were into some weird ****. Ain't got nothin' on Tevinter.

<edit> I think this is the concept I'm thinking of. Could have sworn there was one for DAO as well because Witch Hunt. The achievement for killing the thing is even titles "That Thing Has Legs."

Interestiiing. I could definitely see that be possible. The flower girl looks like she's blinded, and possibly muted if she can't speak with those vines growing out of her. I wonder if it could have been a form of punishment? Or failed experiments trying to create the varterrals.

Edit: Or! Its actually the plant that is sentient. It looks like a flytrapper? So to catch elves/mortals, it uses a beautiful elf to lure you in.

yeah there's also one where a Tevinter magister appears to be riding a giant scorpion, and oh man I hope we see that when we inevitably go to Tevinter. No wonder everyone's so afraid of Tevinter man, GIANT SCORPION MOUNTS.

New tweet from Weekes:

Something Exploded to Thematically Reinforce the Protagonist's Point: The Patrick Weekes Writing Method

We need to chew through this.  I never really considered what went wrong at ToSA.  It happened, it started the story- my brain skipped over the whole question of why, and why is the part that actually matters.   The hint has to lie in Balance, in the Triad of magic theory.  Solas is the actual protagonist of the DA universe- Warden, Hawke, Inquisitor.... we make our mark, but in the bigger picture we're just along for the ride.

The choice of sacrifice?  The Divine as imperfect Wife?  She would be the best embodiment of Earth he could manage, no?  Barring Mythal.   Maybe that's it.  Still feel like there's something here that my brain isn't catching quite right yet.

LOL.  I'm a little overprotective of my Lavellan too, but mine is better off focusing her attention toward the Inquisition than going after Solas in the Fade.  So the tack that she takes isn't looking for Solas, but trying to figure out what Solas was up to and what he was looking for.  She thinks that looking for him directly is not going to work, but searching for whatever he was searching for has a chance of leading her to him.  So she scours his room, his books, all the clues he left behind.

I'm also bracing for the possibility that my Lavellan won't go along with whatever Solas is planning, and even if there is the possibility of a happy ending by joining him, she won't take it.  She loves him and values his perspective, but the Inquisition is her clan now, and the people within its reach are at least partially her responsibility.  She can't just abandon all that for him, especially if what he has planned will cause a lot of grief for the normal people in Thedas.

My Lavellan would have destroyed Thedas for Solas XD I don't think she could have even run the Inquisition anymore, she was far too upset. I couldn't keep playing the game after I figured out I couldn't take him with me, so I figure that's the equivalent of Lavellan quitting haha.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but I think he's referring to his own original novel, here. It's likely not Dragon Age related.

Ick. It's like in some horror movies where someone has spiders burst out of their mouth/eyes, or scarab beetles as a mummy. It would be an interesting guardian and trap if it could look a bit like the Lady of the Forest as a lure, then if the hapless victim makes it angry it starts growing the flower bits from orifices and thorny vines rip out of the ground from the plant its bound to.

Like. Plant broodmother, oh god. That would be terrifying if we find out something like that was a precursor to broodmothers because embedded knowledge in the first elves to become darkspawn passed on a more twisted version.

No rain, no worries.  It sparked the obvious question in my head, regardless of intended reference.  Highly suspect he meant it though, if he's presenting it as Weekes ™ trademark.  Guy is clever as hell.

Creepy and terrifying, I love it!

I kind of miss that darkness, and creepiness that was in Origins and Awakening.  The Children *shudders*.  The nursery rhyme before finding the broodmother in the Deeproads.  Ugggh that still gives me the shivers.

Maybe DLC will take us into some really old elven ruins from the time of Arlathan, that are full of the left overs from experiments.  And we end up there because we're trying to track down Solas.  Leliana manages to actually dig up some good info, she was searching far and wide to make up for not looking into the village Solas said he was from sooner.

My god, you guys.  I think it's US.  The player, newly anchored, as competing Will in the Triad.  The Divine turns from Corypheus to us, but we're TOO REAL.  FAR, FAR TOO REAL.  Our Will lies outside the DA Universe.

Maybe Flower Girl and Tree-Halla Guy are going to be Solas' minions in Wolf Hunt. He awakens some of the really weird creatures Ghilan'nain created to prevent Q from getting in his way.

Cut scene Velanna could control sylvans in DAO:A.
