I put whenever Mythal was having a bad day dealing with her sons or a**hole husband, Solas would play a trick on one of her kids or husband and she would laugh. Or maybe just have a witty burn for her family members.

Arlathan Family Sit-Com:
Elgar'nan: Grumpy, conservative father.

Mythal: The cool mom that has everyone wrapped around her little finger.

Falon'din and Dirthamen: Jackass versions of Fred and George Weasley.

Andruil: The bratty, scrappy sister.

Ghilan'nain: Andruil's best friend who pretty much lives with the family. Fond of animals and science. Kind of a nerd.

June: The artsy one that spends a lot of time in his room. Collects rocks.

Fen'harel: Mythal's bestie from college that lives nearby and babysat kids when Elgar'nan and Mythal go out for poker with the Maker. Brings up politics at the dinner table a lot.

Sylvaise: The one who tries to keep peace among the family. Kind of a sweetheart. Loves fireworks.

The Forgotten Ones serve as a Newman figure living across the street. Naturally, this makes Fen'harel the Kramer.

Wait- the other way around, no? She was the spirit, summoned and bound to the physical body of a dread wolf.

That is weird. Couldn't possibly have been one of Ghil's toys. Unless they were just, you know, lying around- and the basic idea behind their use were still known. And the lycanthropy is transmissible, right? Which is crazy. Like a fade-shadow disease, but if so, there was no guarantee every human they came in contact with would have a possible infection path.

*ponders* How was it transmitted? Usual thing, biting?

Yes, biting... Though being bitten doesn't always guarantee you'll get infected.

Yesss. This pleases me. Maybe I'll stop being lazy and throw in a few too.

For some reason I always think of something like Gilgamesh from Fate/Zero when thinking about the other elves in the pantheon. Just big, shiny, over the top god-beings.

By all means! I was thinking about starting off with one of the lesser talked about ones, like Sylaise, and go from there.

I've got History class in the morning (it's late over here) but I'll fiddle around a bit once I'm through with that.

I wonder if I will do better in my studies than last semester. The game was released during then and all I could think about was how that elven butthead broke me.

LOL!  This is by far my favoritist (shut up, it's a word) video of yours!!!

"F*** yeah, I wanna help free slaves!  That's what I'm all about, it's totally my thing!"  Someone please plaster that phrase on a Solas pic, and meme it UUPPP.

And yet, I have a sneaky suspicion that he and Fenris would absolutely despise each other.

"I was freeing slaves since before the fall of Elvhenan!"

"Well, you didn't do a good job!"

From DA wiki
Fereldan lore is full of instances where these creatures have plagued the countryside: wolves possessed by rage demons and transformed into humanoid monsters with incredible speed and strength, able to spread a curse to those they bit that would drive them mad with unthinking fury. When in this enraged state, a human host can likewise become possessed and be transformed into a feral, wolf-like beast. Tales differ on these werewolves of human origin, some claiming that their transformation into a bestial form happens uncontrollably. Some claim the transformation is irreversible. As is often the case with demonic tales, both versions were most likely true at some point.

I think Mythal got tired of Elgar'nan because he's such a shitty ruler and she has to keep fixing his mistakes. She took up with a lover who has a more compatible philosophy. Elgar'nan found out and killed her and her lover.

I'd love to see some fan renditions of the rest of the pantheon. I don't think I've seen too many yet.

Working on it! I'm doing up some tarots of the entire panetheon. ^^

Or trying to. It's going to take a while because I'm painting everything by hand. (I hate digital painting. My work looks like that of a six-year-old with partially paralysed hands).

on the topic of the Wardens a page back (15 replies while I was typing this I CAN'T EVEN)

I banished the wardens because my Lavellan was kind of just tired of them and thought that the Inquisition could kind of take over their job, maybe find a better way to do it without all the darkspawn blood guzzling and tainting of things. She's also kind of like, weirded out that they trusted such an obvious bad guy and his crazy plans. I mean, you see Livius' face (and his sassy boots) and it just screams VILLAIN. Of course, I play my characters like Dana Scully man, TRUST NO ONE. But anyways, I felt even better about my decision after both Solas and Cass approved of me banishing them...I'm not sure exactly why Cass was so on board with it...maybe because their responsibility for Justinia's death was unforgivable for her? Solas and Cass are my two favorite team members, so having both of them support me made me feel like I made the right decision. And especially Cass, she kinda clinched it for me because I trust her opinion...she's honorable, I guess, is what I'm saying. So if Solas' feelings about the Grey Wardens are kind of weird and unfounded and maybe a reflection of his own problems...I can kind of ignore that because Cass the honorable was on board with it too.

My DA:O warden was again, played like Dana Scully, so she never really felt like Warden pride? Or whatever? She was just doing this thing and trying to keep herself and everyone she loved alive. So I guess I didn't feel much like I betrayed her...but then I also wasn't thinking that I was banishing her as well until just this very moment--OH MY GOOOOD WHAT HAVE I DONE

ahem. ah well, I'm sure her and Zev will figure something out. yup. SIGH.

Is it safe to come back to the thread? Cause, I really feel uncomfortable if its going to go back to talk of sex-dolls, balls, or being called
unnatural by someone in here.

All I can say about the theorycrafting is to be careful not to stray into Indoctrination Theory territory. Where you're crafting a story and connections that are much more complex and interesting than the actual story was ever intended to be.

It just occurred to me that the Lady of the Forest is yet another example of a spirit pulled out of the Fade against its will and thus corrupted to become a demon. Though eventually she does turn back from Vengeance to become a spirit of Justice. Its also interesting that the spell that pulled her through also linked her to Zathrian in way that might have made him immortal had the curse not been lifted.

The times I've banished them my justification was, "Well, you all really, really screwed up. (Except you Loghain, dear.) And we're facing an ancient darkspawn magister who can mind-control the crap out of you (and respawn in you, but we don't know that.) You know what? All I need is one steadfast, loyal Warden to take down that Archdemon with me. Blackwall, you stay. The rest of you, head back to Weisshaupt and think about what you've done. Once you've gotten some serious talks with your HR department and Corypheus is eliminated, you can come back and prep for the Twin Dragon Elf God Blight Showdown of doom."

The times I haven't banished them. *Alistair voice* "Have you SEEN their uniforms? Not only protective, but stylish! I can't banish that from Orlais."

OH.  Blood then.  That makes more sense.  Crazy powerful blood, though, to force change on corporeal form like that.  And I don't quite get how that could be related to the Spirit-binding, unless the spirit kind of... infused the blood when it was attached.  That would take a crazy, crazy powerful spirit.  You say she was walking around in the physical world, in spirit form on her own?  Like Cole does?  Or still in Dread Wolf form?

...erk.  Sorry for all the questions!  I should just play the blasted game, but so little time...

Dalish.

Something tells me Solas would find being put in a woman body to be very fun. He would be like "now i can experience moon magic" or something weird like that.

I think that the Lady of the Forest was bound to a wolf by Zathrian.  I will also point out that we don't actually know if it was The Dread Wolf, or the dread wolf, as in whether it was Fen'harel's body or the body of a particularly large, aggressive wolf at the time that Zathrian and his clan might perhaps have known about and spoken about.

What we do know is that the Lady of the Forest's "tree-person" form is female, but the wolf is mentioned at some point as being male.  You can ask about it, even--about how she can be a male in one form and female in another.  The answer you get is something about how she represents the duality of nature.

So no, the wolf body wasn't female.

She is neither Justice nor Vengeance; she is the spirit of the forest, or nature.  She simply represents the concept of Nature--and her own nature is dual, as evidenced by her two forms.  Her two forms, as I also posted, have two different sexes:  the female Lady form, and the male Witherfang form.

He gives disapproval if you use the book knowledge perk when you appeal to the Wardens, he disapproves of you calling them heroes and say they saved the world many times over. That gets a side eye from me. The Wardens do many questionable things but without them tainting themselves the world would be a blighted wasteland and in that situation if he's not going to offer help then he should keep his disapproval to himself.

I did mention the DAO nostalgia right? I'm protective about the sacrifices my wardens had to make and I don't like even Solas belittling them.

One thing that always bothered me about the wardens is how they conscript. They claim the right to just conscript people and take property....and I generally tend to question when people put "the greater good" over individual rights like that. Granted a lot of the people they conscript are criminals, and Thedas is a medieval inspired world where this is the norm...But still. I made sure my Quizzy avoided conscripting as much as I could. Which meant skipping some war table quests....but the Wardens are kinda corrupt and could use some reforms too, I thought. I exiled them. Don't get me wrong I loved my Warden and loved Origins. But my Warden was a blood mage, and much darker and more ruthless than my Quizzy.

Oh that is so true, I had my Lavellan in that Warden Mage armor with I think it was King's Willow Weave trim? It was this lovely golden color and I looked so fiiiine. Yeah, I'll keep the armor schematics, we'll just replace the griffon with Andraste's hairy eyeball!  Another win for the Inquisition!

I am never able to exile them since I cant bear to let Hawke stay in the Fade.
I wonder whether the Wardens at Weissphaut have dirty secrets of their own..just like the Seekers of the truth. They are particularly distant and cold from the rest of the order.

That's definitely interesting.   I'm not sure how to fit that into my existing theory of How Things Work, which means there's got to be a big hole in it somewhere.  I can kind of explain how general shapeshifting might work (a spirit that's poured his whole fade-water-self into a physical cup, so to speak.   Like Cole.   Assuming he gained enough Will to exert mental control over the cup’s shape, then he really could change into anything he liked.)  Being limited to two forms, though... hmm.  And I still don't really get why Cole bleeds.   He's manifested some degree of Will, yes- and getting stronger all the time- but his Song should still be so weak compared to everyone else...

And for the Lady to have Will strong enough to actually force change on existing physical reality with a few drops of blood?   Yikes.  That's really strong.   Incredibly old, maybe even partially dragon-level strong.   Some kind of direct connection to Mythal would make sense, I suppose, given her domain....

Ugh.  More questions than answers.  I should play the game.
