Yea, I think Cass is the best choice in general. I just wanted a softened Leliana for one of my PTs for variety ><

I'm actually wondering how that whole approval system works, because Vivienne disliked 90% of the things I did but we were still besties by the end of my playthrough so???

Although in retrospect, in conversations they got along well (probably because my quizzy likes thought provoking discussions) and probably because my Lavellan's idea of the reestablishment of the Circles isn't the same as what Vivienne is thinking.

I believe drunken Cassandra is her max disapproval dialogue. So she's kind of an angry drunk at that point.

<snip>

I haven't gotten it either, I can't help but be besties with her, but I watched it on youtube and it is indeed hilarious :)

Well. Heading off to Youtube now~

Felt conflicted with all the divines. Leliana was too radical for my tastes, too many changes. Cassandra would fit my ideals but her heart wasn't into being a figure head and preferred to stay a soldier. Vivienne was ok.. ish. Her ideas are meeting the status quo but made it slightly better for mages. I think placing a mage as a divine is too uncomfortable for the people.

I am so sad I missed out on the furniture troll. Because Vivienne and I never got along, even though I did her main quest with a bunch of approval. I could never get any of her friendlier dialogues, or even get her to chat with me.

Same thing happened with Sera, actually. Got her main quest, but never got the prank scene or the cookie one. I finally just reloaded an old save and agreed with her about the temple of Mythal. Got the prank scene at least.

I kind of felt bad that my Lavellan never got along with Vivienne. I tried hard to be friends with her but I guess she really didn't approve of my Lav's decisions in the game. ^__^;

I never got Sera's cookie scene for my Lavellan PT but I got it for my Trevelyan PT. Also, started taking Sera around on my Trev PT and oddly enough, I'm starting to appreciate her. (I still want to wring her neck for laughing at my Lavellan's face for the removal of her vallaslin though. :P)

Oh my god Cass. I thought she was going to take a swing at the Inquisitor at one point, except maybe she thought she'd be too drunk to do that and not miss.

Nooo... Forget I ever said anything like that! That would be not good.

For what it's worth, my crazy ideas don't include descendants of anyone. Children from a Mythal possessed body would never have any connection or relation to Mythal. (Souls are not DNA!)

But I think we have limited evidence that they can be.  A strong enough spirit can infuse the literal blood of a physical body- like the Lady of the Forest and lycanthropy.  It's all Will, even if it's a spirit's- and Mythal has some crazy strong Will, even being just a fragment of what she once was.

Science and Magic are not so far apart in Thedas.  What we would consider "DNA" is the individual's Song- the Song that shapes who and what they are.  It's not an exact scientific mapping, of course (the Song exists in the blood of beings, not cells) but the connection is definitely there.

Think about Blight and how it affects Will.  It is a dark Song in the blood of Wardens- one that gets stronger and louder over time... eventually strong enough to change their actual, physical form.  (Their DNA, in modern terms.)  The Song of the individual is overpowered by the Will - the Song -  of the Sun. They become Darkspawn: part of a collective hive mind entirely controlled by the Sun and subsumed to His Will.

Make sense?

Argh, I know. Why can't we just promote Mother Giselle?

HA! I knew Solas was just a skinhead at heart. He probably invented all that vallaslin slave crap just so he could be the only cool dude with tattoos, presumably hidden by his clothes

Because Giselle was mean to Dorian. Hmph. No Divinity for her.

Holy crap did a lot happen while I was gone this weekend! I am super into the idea of designing the rest of the pantheon however... Give me... a bit. I will do that thing. The only things I keep running into are June and Ghilal'nain's depictions in their mosaics. Ghilal'nain, unlike the rest of the Pantheon, has a white face, which leads me to believe she's covered in vallaslin.

Ghilal'nain's Mosaic
240px-Ghilannain-_Mother_of_the_Halla.pn

June, on the other hand, has the bottom of his face in white, which leads me to believe it's a beard. Seeing as beards are the least elven characteristic I can imagine in the DA universe, I continue to doubt his being elven. Also, his arms are portrayed as significantly shorter.  Not to mention the structured, angular background detail pattern behind him that deeply reminiscent of dwarven architecture and statuary that is in direct contrast to the organic visual motifs present in the rest of the mosaics of the pantheon. And then there's the anvil. I need not go on!

June's Mosaic on the left with Falon'Din's on the right to act as a limb-length comparison. June, on the left, is significantly more squat and broad, lacking the near El Greco stretching we see the in the depiction of the rest of the elves.
240px-June-_God_of_the_Craft.png                                     240px-FalonDin-_Friend_of_the_Dead.png

Sooo... if I were to do the pantheon, would you all be cool with June being dwarven and Ghilal'nain having Vallaslin? I kind of can't see another way of going about it.

EDIT: The tales tell us that Ghilal'nain was Andruil's chosen and most devoted follower, so her Vallaslin will be Andruil's. Just an FYI.

Totally on board.  This is just true.  The white faces of Mythal's Children were puzzling me, but vallaslin.  You're a genius!  That's definitely it.

Oh wow, yes please.

Ghilan'nain was a slave... I can see it. And Andruil lifting her up once she saw her potential.

As to Juno, dwarf. No contest.

I had angry drunk Cassandra during my current playthrough... I really didn't see it coming tbh because I though we were fine.. Just had the angry Varric scene, sided with Varric and next scene she is all angry at me yelling for coddling mages

We're cool now :)

I've always had my theories about June but I didn't notice the thing about Ghil. Good catch!

I'd like to see where others take this. I'm starting with Sylaise and I have some ideas for Dirthamen.

If you want to make this a more fluid collaborative effort, shoot me a PM.

This occurs to me; I was never interested in Dalish culture/folklore until Inquisition. Solas, what have you done to my life?!!!

You guys, I have to play through the Temple of Dirthamen tonight, and I don't want to because I'm scared. :( But as an Elf romancing Solas I feel like I can't skip it or I'll lose my elf card!

I never had any interest in playing a Dalish until I met Solas, let alone the lore!

Not sure whether he's a bad or good influence. :P

Also worth pointing out:  the suspicious concentric circles on June's forehead not found in any other mosaic, and how they might relate to Chantry-style Tranquility brands given that we know the dwarves are fundamentally cut off from the Fade.  The forehead seems to be the literal location (in physical space) where the physical body and the spirit connect.

Assuming Dwarves are the Earth's "maternal antibodies" writ large, I'm not sure what would have happened to their spirits, given that the body from which they came was dead and thus its fade-shadow no longer attached.  June himself may be the proto-Dwarf: projecting a physical body and then sealing the old conduit shut with a lyrium brand like Chantry tranquility.

Hmm.   Anyway.  Just a thought, if you want to include something like that in his design.

Same here.  Stupid sexy Fade sensei  <_<

I did *finally* get far enough with Adaar to start triggering Dorian's romance content, though.  It's so nice to be able to play romance scenes without crying a little inside
