Ya know, I thought it was an insane theory. But, Sandel being June or holding a part of him, might not be that crazy after all.

 

I actually can buy that one. For some reason more than the Sera = Andruil thing. Maybe because we have actual canon interaction between Sandal and an elven god. He suggests that Flemeth has visited him before, or that's what most people suspect. Plus he makes strange predictions out of nowhere and apparently has power unlike any other dwarf.

 

Edit: Oh my god maybe that's why Sandal wasn't in this game. Couldn't have him there while Solas is around or Solas would sense him!

Hmm... so I've been trying to follow all the various theories going on the thread. I'm really finding the concept of the Void and how it might relate to the blight interesting. Also, blight magic (vs. blood magic or Fade (lyrium) magic)... In Last Flight there's mention of the Archdemon's magic being... different:

So the blight is a source of magic, like blood or lyrium. Presumably red lyrium gets its powers from the blight, unlike blue lyrium which comes from the Fade. I can't remember.... who made those amulets the Wardens wore in the Calling? Was it the darkspawn? Could they have been enchanted using red lyrium instead of blue?

Agreed. The sera theory, IMO I don't think she is Andruil. Although interesting to read. I think its all coincidence. Sera is just Sera. Hopefully though soon in DLC we will get some answers.

What do we know about the timeline of the dwarves?

Well, what we DO know is that they die out somewhere along the line, but nobody really knows why. It's assumed that all their superior technology "overran" them. The spiders and centurions and stuff. But it could well be that the old gods.... Oh, no, wait. That was Skyrim, sorry.


Forgive me, I could not resist. All those skull-studded urns and that one centurion body lying around in the Western Approach, all looking just like ripped out of Tamriel. :-)

Well currently we're discussing Sera as Andruil, June and his connection to the dwarves, Andruil and HER connection to the void and how maybe the veil somehow is keeping the magic from the dwarves..idk. It's crazy.

YES about the Dwarves!  I want/need/crave for more explanations.  Dagna gave me the heeby-jeebies when she started studying the red lyrium.  I haven't delved too much into what fans have come up with, but I certainly have my best guesses as to what the dealio is goin' on with them.  Must be connected to the placement of the Veil/locking away of ze Old Gods.  She feels something, feels...loss, and for a moment she gets it back and you can see how it haunts her, and excites her.  I almost wanted to let her take a slice from my hand so she'd have more creepy stuff to experiment on, because, SCIENCE!

 

Also, you just KNOW Solas knows.

That's totally true, but that's assuming the same wavelength and amplitude, which is a bit different from how I think the Song of the Sun and the false Sun are conceptually related.  Not inversions of each other, but a twisting- a tweaking of amplitude (and volume) that "sundered" the original Song into Song, and Blight.  Think about how much stronger ("louder") blight is than the original Song.  Even in the already-diluted form of darkspawn blood, it's able to grow and completely drown out individual song of a human beings, which have pretty darn strong Will compared to most things in Thedas. 

 

Make sense?

Yes!  Blight, Fade, and Blood are the three "wine glasses" of magic that Vivienne describes in her party banter with Solas.  Blight is a source of magic, but one that's fundamentally disconnected from the nature of original Creation (the intersection of Earth and Sun / Fade and Will), which is why Solas refers to it as "unnatural".  It's a second source of Will, a poisoned and overpowering one, sundered from the original Song.

He made immigration patterns? Because I want to know immigration patterns! Then he can answer whether dwarves are from underground or they're from the surface that migrated to underground. 

 

Because I want to know why dwarves can produce melanin if they have an entire society underground with records of living underground all their lives or the higher production of melanin is mainly of surface dwarves. 

 

Is the theory of proto-elves true were humans, dwarves, and qunari branch from the same ancestor?

I know I'm a little late to the party, but I just finished the Solas romance blind without any previous knowledge and, guys, I can't even anymore. By this point I have done all the available romances, and though they were are very satisfying in their own right, I think by far this one, with Solas, was by far the most impactful in my honest opinion.


RIP other OTPs. My sweet elf and Solas will live on in my heart. Foreva'.

Given his role in the reincarnation cycle of elves, there's no doubt in my mind Solas knows who and what Sandal is, and Sera as well.  His prodding throughout the game isn't pointlessly needling her: he's trying to probe to determine exactly how much Andruil is still left in there- whether she can reconnect to a larger part of what she once was.

Also, Solas seems to have taken a page out of Garrus's book.  He is REALLY a fan of the passionate dipkiss.

Okay, so let’s say the dwarves are this awesome magical race of people, crafting, runes, all that good stuff. 

 

Or lets say that there’s a subgroup of “elves” that lived underground, wove magic, created runes, etc and worshiped June above all other in the pantheon.

 

Then Ghilan'nain decided to get all Frankenstein and did some weird experimental things on them, turning them into something else entirely- like what we know today (dwarves). Cutting them off from their magic?

 

A group of the dwarves (maybe the most powerful of the group) get all pissy about what Ghilan’nain has done (maybe they become the forgotten ones, waging war against the elvish pantheon)

 

(She is Andruil’s favored, after all- maybe cleaning up her mistake is what drove Andruil to the void- or fighting for her)
