Indeed, the first image that got released of his face where it could be seen, my son has a scar that very nearly matches Solas' one. A bunch of folk here were complementing the scar and I showed my son the image and read him the (clean) comments. T has always been very self conscious about his scar. Now he isn't and has really latched onto Solas and I always show him any new images and fanart that shows up of him. He gets very excited and anytime a fanart is missing the scar he always asks why they didn't include it. It's a huge deal to him. (He just turned 6 wednesday.) And thusly it has become a huge deal to me. And the wonderful folk on the old thread spent the next couple pages bolstering my son and sharing stories of their own scars or scars on their significant others.

 

It was a really great moment, one of those "faith in humanity: restored" kind of things. I owe everyone a lot for that.

 

I really hope they put that scar back for your son's sake! One of the first things I noticed about Solas's new face was the lack of that scar and I got worried on your behalf!

What's really grating to me right now about the reveals is that there's nothing left to offset things. I was totally chill before, because there were the character reveals coming and LI announcements mixed in. There was always a feeling that something else was coming soon. Now it's just anticipation left with no promise of anything coming soon at all. There's nothing else besides the last LI reveals that I want to know before release and we have no idea at all of what spectrum of time we're looking at for reveal. I want to keep optimistic, but the way things are, it's hard not to be a bit deflated. I wish they would just clear the air so we could get to discussing fan theories and stuff without the anxiety and waiting. It gives us plenty of time to let go of our favorites and try to warm up to others right now. I just hope the reveal doesn't take much longer.   

Things are looking bad when even Mort is losing his optimism  (I'm only teasing!)

 

But seriously, I totally agree. The sooner the information gets out, the sooner we can start speculation on other topics. Not to mention people who want to go on blackout are able to do so finally.

But nobody bothers him about it, and it actually looks pretty cool! In fact, I can't go anywhere with him because girls hit on him all the time (but he never realizes, it's pretty hilarious).

Randomly curious, but have you introduced your son to the world of Harry Potter yet? Or have future plans to?

 

When you mention his forehead scar, it always makes me think of the lightning-shaped scar Harry has on his forehead.

Aww, we love you too. As an aside, I have a lot of scars all over my body from surgeries and medical procedures from when I was a baby (24 weeks + 4 days gestation) as well as scarring on my face and arms from minor injuries, so I understand how important it is to have a character you can identify with on that level. Tell your son from me to be proud of his scar and know it means he's stronger than he could imagine.

You know, this probably sounds odd, but my kids have patently refused to watch Harry Potter. HOWEVER, a family friend got him Lego Harry Potter for his birthday. I wonder if he'll connect to Harry or not. HM.

 

*edit: And I suppose with Harry's scar being magical and shaped like a lightning bolt I don't really think of it as a scar, despite that being it's description, so I never thought to introduce T to it in "that way" huh. O.o What a ridiculously obvious oversight on my part...

If it helps at all: i have a seven inch (approx) scar on my arm from a rare kind of tissue cancer that I had when i was 15, I used to be ashamed of it thinking it was ugly, and never wear short sleeves only now i'm proud of it (since I'll still here) and it's a part of my identity/who i am. now it's awesome cause people always tell me it looks badass. sometimes i like to have fun when people ask "what is that from" and tell them oh you know i was bitten by a lion on safari, motorcycle accident, etc  maybe your wee son got his from fighting a dragon

And if you'd like to share with your son, I have a somewhat-faint-but-noticeable scar on my forehead... actually, not far off from being where Solas's was... that I got from when I had the chicken pox as a kid. I did sooooo good not to scratch when they itched because Momma warned me it might scar if I scratched them, but I must have broken down and scratched the forehead one. I've had that almost my whole life and was very self-conscious of it growing up. But nobody said anything to me about it and I'm now all grown up, gainfully employed, married, and have generally always had guys (and some gals) hitting on me or trying to flirt. So, that little scar doesn't seem to have turned me into Quasimodo, it seems. LOL So, he should be juuuuust fine.
