I guess I'm down with murder then, since I straight up let Leliana kill whoever she wants, and I let Iron Bull basically kill a **** load of his own people, I let Cole and Cassandra both kill people who weren't even dead yet (even if it was out of mercy) and I literally walk around ALL DAY LONG putting arrows in people's faces. I don't stop to ask if they deserve it or not.

 

In a game that has at least 1/3 of it's major gameplay as combat, I can't even bat an eye at Solas ending some miserable mages existence.

do you mean the Seeker she kills? I won't put that in the category of murder at all. She basically prevented the guy from suffering any more than he already had, we have no way to reverse red lyrium crap. Plus the whole demon growing inside him? What the crap was that? That couldn't have been let go. And lastly he asked her to do it. It's just not even the same imo.

I apologize if irresponsible was a loaded word, it wasn't meant to be. It's just every good scientific paper, every good english paper, every good literary analysis, every good new article has a source. Has references. Names. Dates. Quotes. If someone handed me a paper explaining the nature of life, the universe, and everything with no sources, I'd hand it right back to them. If a paper doesn't have a bibliography, end notes, or clearly referenced information it is solely opinion and I can't give it weight in good conscience.

You're free to believe or think or feel how you want. I have no issue with that. But me accepting something as true without sufficient evidence is irresponsible - ON MY PART. Not yours.

Given the choice. I wouldn't do it.   Games that allow me to play with a  non-violent option - I always take that. A. I like sneaky-sneak B. Not a fan of the one man genocide. 

 

Now I get that's not at ALL feasible in these games.  But I couldn't let him kill them.  More for him than anything.  Let my hypocrisy be what it is.

"In the story, Fen'Harel was captured by the hunting goddess, Andruil He had angered her by hunting the halla without her blessing, and she tied him to a tree and declared that he would have to serve in her bed for a year and a day to pay her back. But as she made camp that night, the dark god Anaris found them, and Anaris swore that he would kill Fen'Harel for crimes against the Forgotten Ones. Andruil and Anaris decided that they would duel for the right to claim Fen'Harel.

He called out to Anaris during the fight and told him of a flaw in Andruil's armor just above the hip, and Anaris stabbed Andruil in the side, and she fell. Then Fen'Harel told Anaris that he owed the Dread Wolf for the victory and ought to get his freedom. Anaris was so affronted by Fen'Harel's audacity that he turned and shouted insults at the prisoner, and so he did not see Andruil, injured but alive, rise behind him and attack with her great bow. You're totally right that it couldn't have been helped. He had to go.

 

Just like the mages have to go. Because maybe they don't kill anyone this time- but maybe next month one becomes an abomination out of stupidity and kills Dorian.

This story just makes me feel like everyone who went for the romance could relate, I mean she just wanted to frick frack with a handsome devil.  Saw the opportunity and seized it. eeeehh eeeh ;D  Smart woman.

Seeing as I don't believe Solas to be Dirthamen and thereby not Dumat - I think I'm good. Even if Dirthamen were Dumat, which I doubt (the likelyhood of it being Mythal is simply too high given the birth date of Andraste and the Children of Andraste Codex entry) it still doesn't affect Solas.
 

 

These two ideas are connected, actually.  This is only theory of course, but Mythal can only take on a physical form if the being is a willing host.  Once Dumat was freed, Solas-as-Falon'Din entered the dreams of the mortal woman Andraste and convinced her to do so.  She accepted, at which point Andraste-Mythal and Solas-Shartan tore into the Tevinter Imperium until the sheer mass of the slave rebellion meant social Chaos was a more direct threat to Balance than Order.  

 

At this point, Solas-as-Falon'Din enters Maforath's dreams, twisting and compelling him into betraying Mythal-Andraste at the precise point when Tevinter is willing to grant the largest concessions, the most land, that would still be stable and governable by rebellion forces.  

 

So much blood, so much death and betrayal.  But all for the greater good, yes?  

 

For balance, because balance preserves Choice.  And Choice is the only thing that matters.

I would honestly be a little scared to see what the body count of all my Dragon Age (Origins, DA2, and Inquisition) main characters combined over all my playthroughs looks like....especially Hawke. LOL.

I love Andruil. I feel like she could be an amazing villain if they ever bring her around. 

 

I agree she probably gets a bit scapegoated in fanfiction, but considering we don't know much about her, it doesn't bother me too much. I'm sure if we do run into Andruil she'll be a bit more complicated. For one, the madness might not be entirely her fault. And there's every possibility that the relationship between her and Fen'Harel was a bit more complicated then her just wanting him as a sex slave.

 

Still gloriously axe-crazy.
