Awww. I dunno. I'm the one who won't even let her Sims die. Ever. So, when I go to theorycrafting, I always bring enough lifeboats. In this case, I imagine there's a very specific reason he took us to Skyhold. Morrigan tells us that the stones of the keep are steeped in ancient elven magic. It keeps the Darkness (whatever that is) at bay. It is a very. special. place. And he brings us there, even if he doesn't like us and hands us the proverbial house keys. He needs us to be there for some reason.

Also it now has a handy dandy Eluvian of its very own thanks to Morrigan. I wonder if that emergency exit was part of his plan too.

I'm more concerned that the time travel theory is correct. If you take the mage path, the way red lyrium Leliana mentions that to you, this is all just a future you can prevent, but to them it is real is sort of telling. I know its been connected before by others but yeah. We became important to Solas. More important than he could have imagined. He knows the world as it is, is real to us and we're becoming real to him. To stay with us, this world and everyone else in it would have to become the one that is real to him, and not just a future he can prevent.

But whatever his plan, I think Skyhold may be his lifeboat. And by us being there, holding a piece of his power, we may be the beacon. I dunno what any of it could mean for DLC if its true. I just want Tiger's happy ending. Even if it means diving into a Temporal Paradox to save her Dread Wolf.

Keeps The Darkness at bay?

Thank **** for that...

Im terrible about linking things on my phone but Im obsessed with that comic that has Anders all sad and Hawke comes out of the fade with sunglasses and a soda and a t-shirt that says "I got left in the Fade and all I got was this stupid shirt."

It's accurate.

I've seen that one!  Replace Anders with Fenris and that's my Hawke right there.  I've also read a theory that Alistair just talks endlessly about how amazing his girlfriend is and the NIghtmare gets fed up and kicks him out the Fade.

Man I have so many pages to catch up LOL. I was busy playing my Lavellan yesterday and I'm behind like 50 pages now.

Anyway there are a couple of topics I wanted to address before the thoughts leave me.

RE: Solas doing whatever is necessary to further his end goal, whatever that is. (End justifies the means)

I believe this is a true assumption of his character. I think that being part of the Inquisition might have helped him realize that pulling a Warden move is not always the answer to everything, and that there are irreplaceable people in this "world" that are worth fighting and dying for. (Lavellan :police:)

However towards the end, as much as he wants to tell you everything, he realized at that point when he was willing to forget his past, that he needed to toughen his heart and resolution. Lavellan got to him bad but he sacrificed his love for duty and an old guilt. So I'm actually expecting more of an extreme Morrigan out of him. Lots of questionable choices but all for the sake of a greater good for the Elvhen. Now whether we think those are necessary choices are another matter. I'm mentally preparing myself for the worst, but I've always said that Solas has the greatest potential for an amazing story. I don't think they'll throw him into a cliche villain mold but we should prepare ourselves for some drama and angst. There are tough choices coming our way.

RE: Solas being really prejudiced toward the people of Thedas. Is he racist?

I wouldn't go to an extreme like that however he can come off really strong and negative toward all the races, including modern Elves. I think he glorifies the Fade and spirits too much, the old days of Arlathan (even with all the negatives, I think he misses his people greatly) that the rest of the people just seem disappointing and predictable. He can come off a bit Xenophobic in some of his comments (I'm referring to the things he tells an Inquisitor he dislikes, heck even a confession in the balcony) but I wouldn't necessarily call him "racist", at least I haven't heard anything that made him that questionable. I do think he gives Lavellan a hard time, especially if you're RPing a hardcore Dalish Lavellan. When I first interacted with him, I was downright offended about his comments. As you get to know him better, not even romanced, but as a friend you can see the change in him slowly. I really enjoy that character progression. I wish there would've been a way to introduce him to our clan. Show him that not all elves are like those he has come in contact with in the past.

To end my post, have a beautiful runaway Solas!  :wizard:

(This is how I see him post-ending. May the Blighted Wolves take you Solas!)

Big images be big.

I would ask hawke where he found those future artifacts! What's a T...shirt? What are these bubbles stinging my mouth in the sugar water? I'd say hawke is an abomination.

It's Lady Hawke and she found them by being Hawke.  That's just the kind of thing she does.

It would be a hawke thing to constantly swap genders. I'd say she's an abomination.

Yeah someone definitely misclicked on who was supposed to have the blue glowy animation.  On my Trev'Quisitor that drank from the Well, Dorian was standing next to her and he was glowing.  Hopefully they address that in a patch.

Wow. Dorian? Really?  :D

Such an important scene and they do this. Bioware! *shakes fist*

Yeah it's Hawke so the qunari will probably see those sunglasses as a threat to their technological edge and launch a full scale invasion of the Free Marches.

Again.  They did the last one because Hawke sneezed at the wrong time.

Yess. That does make a lot of sense. I suppose the ultimate question is: when was the veil created? And presumably, this 'wall' caused something to go wrong beyond just a limited pool of super powered individuals. Perhaps it interrupted the lyrium's song, causing red lyrium to be born? Or, over time, someone else learned how to exploit the veil for their own ends.

That would be my guess. Those (or some of those, anyway) who put it up did so with good intentions perhaps. Protect the people and whatnot. But it was figured out, and now the system is hijacked by someone or something with less than noble intentions. Think the Rachni song from ME. The system has a single point of failure. Anyone who can learn to mimic the song....

I don't know... Sunglasses sounds like a qunari invention. It's like they're leaders in scientific research. Why I bet qunari wash their hands and will someday invent pasteurization. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if they invented sliced bread. Think of the efficiency.

I wonder if that's because when the Inquisitor touches it, he/she took a lot of its power.  Corypheus had no choice but to use his own powers, blight magic, to make up for what was lost.

And then of course using magic that was not of the orb's nature corrupted it.  Then like Mims suggested, it caused tiny invisible fractures within the orb.

hrmm

edit:  It did go back to green once the Inquisitor got control of it.

I just figured it was because Cory is CRAWLING with blightbugs. I imagine his insides look like:

Whoever made that post about Solas making love like James Deen, you are to blame for me following your advice not to, under any circumstances, do a Google search for James Deen porn, and therefore are responsible for this, which happened after I did the Google search for James Deen porn.

Come to think of it, based on the timeline we have Solas would have to be at least 2000 years old, and that's an incredibly modest estimation. Personally I'd wager he's at least 5000 and possibly older than 8000. He could have slept for a great many of those years, but still, damn.

Edit: Have a celebratory first-post-of-the-page Solas

Just watched a video of the end cutscene. It does go back to regular green ones the Inquisitor gets hold of it. It ALSO stays intact after s/he drops it, and it is clearly whole on the ground while s/he is walking towards Corypheus. Rocks start falling after he gets sucked into the Fade, and presumably after that is when the orb is broken. Once again Solas. Why couldn't you pick up the thing while Inquisitor was busy with Corypheus?

You guys are killing me with theory and I'm all out of likes.   Substitute theory-face:  :o

Before Liz's breakthrough, I'd been working under the assumption that the orb was like a fade-shadow conduit writ large: just a fast track to take in more fade, rather than a "fade-battery", but all of this fits so much better in terms of what we see at the end of the game.

And maybe this is nutbag territory, but I can't help but get the same kind of feeling from the dead/broken orb as I get from Mythal during the end scene.  She was human once yes- but by the end, doesn't it seem like her entire physical form is made of the same... stuff?  Even her clothes are the same color.  Her corpse isn't a dead human in actual clothing: it's all Earth, but lifeless.  Without Song.  Completely used up.

Am I reading too much into this?

Totally! The Veil would act like bad reception. It slows down the response time of the Fade to your will and limits the amount of Fade you can pull towards you at any one time. It's the PERFECT level cap... Hence mages for centuries trying to overcome it with 1) blood magic and human sacrifice, 2) blight magic, and 3) lyrium. Like cheat codes.

Which are... all things Corypheus utilizes in an effort to gain access to the Fade physically (both now and in the past) and mirror the power of the Orb.

Theory-face LIKE substitute  :o   Perfect analogy.

Yes, yes, gimme more of your thoughts, all of them.  I would reply to every single one of these brain-trains, but there's always like 10 people who beat me to it, and are generally on-point with my own thinking, which I totally dig.  I can't even try and talk to my hubby or kids about my obsession into video game lore, because I'm either met with a glazed and passive nod or crayons in the face.

On that note, do you ever wonder if the writers/devs/powers-that-be ever read any one of these theories, and go... "Damn it, you guuuyyyysss!  The fan ideas are WAY better than what we actually came up with!  Quick!  Get Weekes and Gaider up here, looks like we have a re-write to do!"
