I got a good mix of heartbreak/non heartbreak.

LOL everyone says that about me and the other girls in my family :3  We get carded until we're in our 40s!  I like the idea of Lavellan looking young and sweet because then when she sets ppl straight it's like FFFFHHH *_*  Kind of like how I thought Solas was going to be a shy nerd then he turned out to be smooooth

Then the biggest question of this theory is: who stands the most to gain from having the veil in place? 

 

 

I believe the answer is the Individual.  I'm too fried from wrapping my mind around the orb to get into it much, but the veil divides the world into Possibility and Will,  Fade and physical Blood, two halves which together create the magic of Choice: it creates a world where change has meaning.  It's all very Miltonesque.  Free Will, the exercise of Choice- it's all meaningless in a world where change is just temporary, illusory. The Fall from Eden wasn't a punishment.  It was done on purpose.  Willingly.  

 

In the post-veil world, existence has an intensity, a weight to it that would not have been possible in "Eden".  And even though it's achieved at a price of cyclical pain, death, and betrayal, there is an earned measure of joy, beauty and meaning that would have been unattainable without the Fall, and is all the more precious for it.  

 

That, I believe, is why the veil was created- and this is why Solas fights so hard to maintain the Balance that makes Choice both possible (vs Order) and significant (vs Chaos), no matter the cost.  Peace without the preservation of Free Will, without Choice, is the same as defeat.

Solas's personal quest (All New, Faded for Her).  I haven't seen much flycam of that or the scene where you first meet him at the rift.

 

Also, because my mind is currently in the gutter, flycamming sounds like a dirty word.  *is actually twelve*

Actually I guess my Alistair one was heart breaking, because I was an elf and couldn't be his queen, so I sacrificed myself and made him stay a Grey Warden....ended up letting him die in Adament because I couldn't stand the thought of my Hawke leaving Fenris and their possible FenHawk babies all alone. Alistair went to go meet his hero of Ferelden.

So I guess it wasn't a healthy balence after all.

Can you pretty please flycam the moment when Solas grasps Lavellan's hand & shoves it into the first rift?  I'd LOVE to see that at another angle because - need MOAR Solas facial expressions.

Awww. I dunno. I'm the one who won't even let her Sims die. Ever. So, when I go to theorycrafting, I always bring enough lifeboats. In this case, I imagine there's a very specific reason he took us to Skyhold. Morrigan tells us that the stones of the keep are steeped in ancient elven magic. It keeps the Darkness (whatever that is) at bay. It is a very. special. place. And he brings us there, even if he doesn't like us and hands us the proverbial house keys. He needs us to be there for some reason.

Look. I'm just preparing for the worst.  So even if only slightly the worst happens, I'm not an emotional wreck. 

 

Sidenote: You didn't let your Sims die?  My Sim towns were veritable blood-baths. I had some stringent population control goin' on there.

Hmmmm....that does sound unhealthy. While I apparently tend to be a masochist in Bioware game, IRL I've been with my guy for over 5 years. Though I suppose he is the complicated sort. If he hadn't have been so different I probably would have been bored like I was with the rest of them. So maybe you just have the find the right, complicated person. XD

Yeah, today i was playing another early Lavellan with Solas and Cass, and i was thinking, "Man, just going by their conversations, Cassandra a is CLEARLY the better person (over Solas) and I should do things to get her approval. I just love her to bits...BUT...I don't want to have sex with her, so...

I, too, would like to see this because I am interested in the expression Solas is making when she pulls he hand away from him at the end.

Hey, I didn't do the "My Lavellan" thingy yet. So, one last post before bed.

3. Which god's vallaslin does your Lavellan use?

Mythal (ironically)

 

4. How old is your Lavellan?

Fairly young, around 23, tops

(I'm afraid my 21-year-old mind can't properly roleplay someone who is significantly older than I am)

 

5. Did you intend to romance Solas when you started the game?

Not ever. Actually wanted to pull some sort of "heroic duo" with Blackwall, but the game turned my expectation of the characters around. I couldn't care less about Blackwall. But let me have Solas!

 

6. What is your Lavellan's relationship with her clan?

She was a pretty annoying child (always wanting to be a "real hero", and pissing of the other kids with it), so the others in her age kinda ignored  her, which resulted in a rather lonely childhood, exploring the woods on her own. When she grew older, she came along better with them, and always found comfort in her father's stories and her keeper's kind words. She was still enthusiastic about leaving the clan, because she always wanted to see the world. ...Adventure! (But she still loves them. Or loved. RIP, people.)

 

7. What are your Lavellan's religious views?

Before the Inquisition happened, she believed in the Creators. Prayed for protection or a clue what to do next. But the more she found out about the past, the more uncertain she became, up to a point where she refused to drink from the well as long as she wasn't sure as to what Mythal even was. When she met her as Flemeth, she pretty much lost it. "The All-Mother is Kierans granny? And June has a brewery in Denerim, sure. I'm out." Now she's an atheist.

 

8. Did your Lavellan drink from the Well?

Nope, as mentioned above. Not a fan of the whole serving thing.

 

9. Did your Lavellan have Solas remove the vallaslin and why/why not?

Yes. Because at that time, she already had so many doubts about her gods. Her clan was dead, her culture not what she had believed it to be. Her people had sworn they would never submit, and she knew that there are many in Tevinter who fight to be free from slavery. How could she not let Solas remove the markings, knowing their intended meaning? It was also a sign for herself; she wasn't the same anymore. She didn't need the vallaslin to proof herself to anyone.

 

10. What response did you choose after Solas broke up with you?

Sad, sad, sad. Poor baby, she was heartbroken.

 

11. How is your Lavellan taking Solas being gone and how are you taking it?

She tries to continue as best as possible. Help people. Make things right. Tries to focus on those things, not to think of him. But at night, she just wonders what he might have done, why he did it. And one little voice always asks her if she knows for sure that he really loved her, and she can't say yes.

I am SAD. I KNOW he loved her. This game gave me a bad case of feelings, I tell you. *sob*

 

12. What would you give for a Wolf Hunt DLC?
