I think the most hilarious thing is Varric stuck in the background while the schleet escapes with Bianca.

I wonder how the animation progress actually works..
Dev1: Let's just stick them in the in the air by the player for a few seconds. it's not like anyone will notice.
Dev2: Yes, great! And when Solas walks away, let's have him walk into a pillar and have him stand there, thinking about his life choices for a few seconds.
Dev1: Perfect!
I found a few gems in the shoves-your-hand-in-a-rift scene. I'm still editing the others but here's a non-Solas one for once.
I guess not even Varric can keep his pants on around Solas.
WHY AM I OUT OF LIKES?! I'm at work and I had to stop myself from laughing out loud like a mad person. ![]()
"Vhenan... I have to tell you the truth. In the ancient days of Arlathan, when our crystaline cities spired through the trees... I had to take drastic measures. The people were falling, our Gods failing, and we were being invaded. The only way to save the People was to seal both them and these invaders away forever.
I have made it my eternal duty to find those remaining, to keep the people safe. But with the breach, they are spilling forth into the world again.
I must leave you, vhenan. Because of the schleets. They wait and have mercy for no man."
I managed to read that in Solas's voice without my head exploding.
Solas, Oghren, Dog, and Morriganythal. The party that was always destined to save the world.

I can see this, Solas being overly dramatic and grim and Lavellan looking at him utterly confused thinking "The **** is a schleet?"
THEIR EVIL KNOWS NO BOUNDS
We have Little Bobby Schleet here scuttling away with Bianca and brings it over to their secret base.
Bobby: Sir sir! I have brought with me a most valuable piece of technology!
The Schleet General: Good job kiddo, Oi you ragged pantaloons! Take this to engineering, see if they can replicate it! We prepare for WAR!
DUN DUN DUUUUN

I still like the twirling arms of Flemyth from the epilogue : )

lol do you think if Solas would've met Merrill first, he would've found her equally fascinating? I'm treading in dangerous ground but I could see it happening. However you could argue Solas' connection to the Inquisitor is deeper because of the Anchor but you know that could go either way.
... That's a really good question.
I don't think they would, but not because I wuvs Solas and want him all to myself.
Solas mentions that one specific thing he loves about Lavellan is that she shows wisdom, a subtly in her actions, and that few show an understanding of the world around them.
I love Merrill, and she can be surprisingly insightful... but she's not that wise, and doesn't show that much understanding the consequences to her actions, or understanding of the world around her. I mean, what? She wanders around Lowtown at night, and when Varric tells her she shouldn't because it's dangerous, she blithely says, "Oh, no one's attacked me yet!" "I know, and it's costing me a fortune." He even gives her string so she won't get lost. When she first visits the Alienage, she excitedly mentions that people here greet newcomers by beating them up and taking their money, but sadly no one around here likes her enough to give her that greeting. Hawke can potentially say, "You saw a man get mugged, and your first thought was that it was an initiation?" If Merrill moves in with Hawke in Hightown, she goes around walking into the nobles' gardens, picking their flowers, blissfully unaware that the guards are glaring at her for trespassing. When Sebastian laments losing his home in Starkhaven, she innocently asks why doesn't he just call the guards?
Again, sweet, surprisingly insightful and open-minded, she doesn't that much awareness in herself or her surroundings.
Also, I've noticed that Solas values humility and self-reflection. If he expresses worry or doubt about what the Inquisitor is done, if you stubbornly defend your choice with words to the effect of, "I know what I'm doing!" or "It's too late to turn back now," he won't like it. I like Merrill, but I've noticed she doesn't do that much self-reflection. Worse, any time someone tries to talk her out of doing something (not just into giving up on the Eluvian), she stubbornly defends her choice and refuses to change her stance. Like, again, Varric trying to talk her out of wandering around Lowtown at night. Or obsessively working on the mirror to the point that she forgets to eat and sleep; and needs Varric to deliver food to her, and get Hawke to get her to leave her house every once in a while (if she hasn't moved in).
Heck, even just her belief in her Dalish dogma. I can imagine Merrill earning disapproval for statements like, "Your 'Maker' is just a story you humans use to explain the world. We have our own stories. I don't need to borrow yours." Or "Anders... there's no such thing as a good spirit. There never was. They are all dangerous. I understood that. I'm sorry that you didn't." While Solas admires free-thinking, I think declarative statements like, "This is what I think and I won't change my mind" don't sit well with him because he likes to be open to new ideas. When Cassandra tries to nudge him toward the Maker, he admits that he likes the idea of a benevolent god who does not feel the need to prove himself.
While I think Solas might like Merrill, or at least admire her conviction, passion and open mind about certain subjects, I can't really see him loving her romantically the way he does Lavellan.
And I'm not just saying that because I like Solas. I really put a lot of critical thought into this.
Well...This is what, the second time the schleet joke has come up?
So why did I cry-laugh just as hard?
Can we all take a moment to contemplate that Corypheus's plan failed because the elderly Divine Justinia called for help like she'd fallen and couldn't get up, then the moment he was distracted, she SLAPPED THE ARTIFACT OUT OF HIS HAND FOR THE WIN.![]()
I really understood Leliana and Cassandra's devotion to her after that.
Ok, screenshot time. Spoilers for size.
Solas shoving your hand in a rift.
Solas being offended that you don't want your hand in a rift
And Solas trying to look like a cute little apostate.
Soooo, running around redcliff talking to people I just heard a quote from Solas I have never heard before (probably because I never ran around with Vivianne in the party). He said "Sometimes to achieve the world one desires, regrettable measures must be taken". Trying hard not so slide into pessimism... but man that makes me feel like he's going to do something catastrophically bad ><
That's a pretty good comparison. I don't think they're that different, when you put it like that.
As for what he plans? I don't know. All we really have to go off of is Cole's reading of Solas' mind.
<snip>
Based on that, until given contrary evidence, I'm just going to assume he wants to wake the elvhen pantheon, or the whole sunken Arlathan, or whatever he might have sealed away in the past that led to the current present for elves everywhere. Since he describes the Orb as something that greatly enhances magical ability, he probably needed its power to reverse what he did in the past. It's kind of like in the game when you first try to seal the Breach. Corypheus pour a great deal of preparation and power into creating it (only for Justinia to slap it away into the Inquisitor's hands at the last second), and Solas figures that closing the Breach would require the same amount of magical power used to create it. Likewise, whatever magical power Fen'Harel had in the past that had allowed him to seal those "masked in a mirror" has now dwindled from a thousand years of slumber, and he needs that same amount of magical power to open whatever he sealed. He was going to use the Orb, but Corypheus took it and ran off. He tagged along for the game partly to help repair the damage he caused, and partly hoping to get it back after Corypheus was defeated. Then it broke. Who else has that amount of ancient elvhen magic lying arou - *gasp* Flemeth! "Oh, Mythal~!"
I personally don't know what to think, so I'll stick to this theory until more information becomes available.
Yeah this seems to be more than likely to me too. Unless we get some other fancy explanation. However if this was a possibility, what is he expecting will happen when all these "Gods" wake up? Hey yo Fen how you been? Must be nice not having to be imprisoned for THOUSANDS OF YEARS?!! BOOM.
Oh Solas. What was plan B? Not break up with Lavellan?
I know, right?? I guess all we have is headcanon. *sigh*
I do imagine that during one of their many long discussions, Solas made a rather dismissive comment about Lavellan's devotion to the Dalish, and she said gently, "Of course. They're my Fade spirits, Solas." Considering how much we know Fade spirits mean to Solas, even when they are twisted and corrupted into demons, I think Lavellan explaining her love for her people by pointing out his love of Fade spirits would have it sink in for him.
I love this explanation. I would imagine my Lavellan sat him down too and told him a few things about her life and her experience being Dalish. Solas really needs perspective in the modern life of an Elf. It's not as fancy as that of Arlathan's but it's what they're dealing with now.
I don't think they would've got along.. She has pretty strong opinions of Fen'Harel XD
LOL I bet. I would imagine any Dalish boogie man might not be your ideal lover. Imagine when Lavellan finds out or if she puts things together later. I'm gonna go back and pay attention more to Merrill and what she had to say about the ancient elves. If I'm quite honest, most of it went under the radar for me.

Those flycam shots are amazing! Thanks for taking them. It makes sense for him to look intense when he's shoving her hand in the rift - he's probably thinking, hey, that's MY power! <grumble grumble>. But then, Solas is trying to appear all innocent in the next to last pic - oh no, nothing suspicious at all about me, hehehe. In that last pic I like to think he's a little pleased with himself for saving Lavellan's life. His face really displays quite a range of emotion for someone characterized by his disciplined restraint.

Yep. #strokedthecoconut, indeed. >_>
I just heard that quote about 10 minutes ago. I got it while talking to one of the mages by the side of the road, a young elf. I didn't have Viv with me, so it's not related to your party. I was like, "Oh, Solas, honey, no."Soooo, running around redcliff talking to people I just heard a quote from Solas I have never heard before (probably because I never ran around with Vivianne in the party). Well well well, what have we here? Solas gets more handsy than we first realized. Dirty old man, please go on.
I know, right! And then he just strolls off all nonchalant like he didn't just light a fricking bonfire in poor Lavellan's pants on purpose.
Yep. #strokedthecoconut, indeed. >_>
lol indeed
I animated 3D models before, it is a lot easier to remove that hand on her hip by just rotating the arm from the shoulder to make it go back.. For his arm to go dip towards "the coconut" seems deliberate to me
I think Solas animator is a Solasmancer

lol Merrill you're making a terrible case for yourself. Ok, I'll take Solas back, thanks for playing.
Yeah I liked Merrill but when I tried talking some sense into her back with the Eluvian business she was really hard to reason with. That would've driven Solas mad. At the very least it would be interesting to see them interact. I know she had some interesting views about the Eluvians but yeah her views about spirits and the Fade?

I know, right! And then he just strolls off all nonchalant like he didn't just light a fricking bonfire in poor Lavellan's pants on purpose.
IKR ?
No wonder she looks so put off ![]()
