I actually just reached Kiss#2 today. I'm about to do Wicked Hearts, so that'll be fun. I'm kind of headcanoning that after Kiss#2, and "dance with me" is when they're going to do more than cop a feel. Solas might be a little drunk, but I feel like (in keeping with the Game) when he asks Lavellan to dance he's hoping she'll be able to read between the lines of what he actually intends.

I found a few gems in the shoves-your-hand-in-a-rift scene. I'm still editing the others but here's a non-Solas one for once.
I guess not even Varric can keep his pants on around Solas.
So anyone that never played Awakening.
So then this Varric thing is an easter egg and it was really a schleet? ![]()

What's amusing about Varric's schleets is that I'm pretty sure they're running with Bianca backwards. How does that even work? Wtf Varric, what else are you keeping from us?

Bianca is just looking back to her beloved in confusion, wondering why he's running to the opposite direction. Quite heartbroken she must be.

lol indeed
I animated 3D models before, it is a lot easier to remove that hand on her hip by just rotating the arm from the shoulder to make it go back.. For his arm to go dip towards "the coconut" seems deliberate to me
I think Solas animator is a Solasmancer
they probably wanted to RE-ENABLE SOLAS

Agreed. Howe was one of the few DA characters that was definitely a "bad guy," but even then if you play Awakening you realize he was apparently a pretty good father and one of the only people Nate Howe liked in his family. So even he has redeeming qualities, and when you kill him and take his lands you end up ruining Nate's life in a big way even though it wasn't his fault at all. Plus it allows Amaranthine to wipe away all of the family's accomplishments which again, is pretty sucky. Does the whole family deserve that because Howe was dumb?
Plus the hundreds of people the PC kills without making any sort of judgement on the value of their lives beyond "they are attacking me and attacking me = bad".
Not to say that Solas is justified in killing the mages, but more that justifying any death is pretty difficult to do.
Exactly. I actually felt bad my first Cousland PT that I relished Howe's death so much and took it for granted that now the Wardens own everything that was ever his. Then I met Nathaniel and realized that Howe's actions didn't reflect everyone associated to him and I really like his son.
This is exactly why I liked the fact that there was a smattering of dialogues that enabled you to talk your way out of killing more people, if you had the persuasion or standing to do so. It was great not to have to kill by default, though I've had PT's where just killing everything that looked at me sideways was just part of the character. Nasty piece of work, all of those.

Referring to an earlier comment on Howe, I got the impression that he was kind of a crap father.
Delilah does not seem to regret his death at all. Nathaniel holds a lot of resentment, but he also put his father up on a pedestal. Would a good father team up with his own mother to line up his little boy and criticize every aspect of his appearance? Howe then squires him off in the Free Marches, rather than with a Bannorn lord where he can visit him easily. I think Howe was a resentful, jealous mass of a human being that only treated his family well in comparison to how he treated everyone else. *shrug* That's just me, though.
I did feel bad that Howe's actions basically nuked the Howe dynasty out of political existence. Nathaniel was the best.

Yeah this seems to be more than likely to me too. Unless we get some other fancy explanation. However if this was a possibility, what is he expecting will happen when all these "Gods" wake up? Hey yo Fen how you been? Must be nice not having to be imprisoned for THOUSANDS OF YEARS?!! BOOM.
Oh Solas. What was plan B? Not break up with Lavellan?
Should have stuck with Plan B. *shakes head sadly*
I love this explanation. I would imagine my Lavellan sat him down too and told him a few things about her life and her experience being Dalish. Solas really needs perspective in the modern life of an Elf. It's not as fancy as that of Arlathan's but it's what they're dealing with now.
LOL I bet. I would imagine any Dalish boogie man might not be your ideal lover. Imagine when Lavellan finds out or if she puts things together later. [snip]
No kidding, right?
About a week ago, someone asked how would our Lavellans react to learning Solas' true identity?
I didn't really know how to answer at the time (still don't), but I imagine shocked and overwhelmed would be there. However, thinking about it further, I feel like Solas' many disparaging comments about the Dalish and modern elves would come bubbling to the surface. That my Lavellan would get angry and basically call him out on looking down on Dalish and modern elves for dealing with the hand he (is implied to have) dealt them. It's like, we've lost everything because of you - our immortality, our homeland, our culture, memories - everything. We lived in slavery and subjugation and the wilderness for centuries because of a decision you made in the distant past, and are coping the best we can with the limited information and resources we have, and you dare look down on us for not living up to your standards? How dare you?!
My Lavellan didn't choose the "angry" option when he broke up with her; she was too shocked and numb, and too proud to make a scene. But I imagine she would be angry if she learned his true identity, and learned that all this time, after putting up with him badmouthing her people, that it turns out he was in some way responsible for their plight (even if it's not in the way the Dalish remember him for), and that he has the gall to look down on them for dealing with their plight in a way he doesn't like when they don't have the option to just go to sleep and wander the Fade to avoid it. "I would love the option to sleep through a thousand of years of slavery and subjugation and wake up after the dust settles. But I can't. None of us can. We have to actually deal with being conquered and enslaved, and pick up the pieces after it's over. And now we have to listen to our gods sneer at us for scrambling around in the dirt instead of descending from on high to help us? ***** you too!"
I imagine she'd still love him, defend him from others, and forgive him eventually, and try to help redeem him if he went down a dark road; but for that moment she would have a lot anger she would need to get off her chest.

I don't buy the theory that the Old Gods and elven gods are the same. Solas even says, "Nothing in any lore connects my people to the Old God dragons who became Archdemons."
Yeah. That's pretty much the writers speaking through Solas, highlighting the limits of codex-limited theorycraft.
He's telling you the truth: there is literally nothing in any lore that connects the Old God dragons to the Pantheon. You have to read between the lines to come to the conclusion that they are one and the same.

Oh, I agree entirely. Howe wasn't an ideal father, and I think Nathaniel saw more what he wanted to see at first, yet he was surprisingly insightful at the same time. But I also would add that Nathaniel basically admits that the man we knew as Howe was not at all the father he knew before he was sent away, so I imagined that he must have had some redeeming qualities. From afar, it's easy to justify his label as a singularly evil person and slap on "horrible parent" to that, yet... Nathaniel did have fond memories of him.
He still deserved to die, and Nathaniel agrees based on what he sees in the aftermath of his father's madness. But I agree that it was perhaps harsh to demolish the Howes completely. (Thooough as a Cousland I wasn't too sorry. He killed my baby nephew and would have killed off the entire Cousland family if his plan had worked.) I imagine that in the Beyond his punishment is to see what ruin he's brought upon his house.
Yeah, I guess I still really, really don't like him. ![]()
Edit: HAH! I actually have a Solas screenshot to post.

So the broken orb consists of 3 large chunks and 5 small pieces. I gotta say, altogether it looks like it should make more than one orb.
Or the piece that Solas picks up is actually the same as one on the ground and the animators didn't think anyone would notice.

Hello friends, sorry for interrupting! Yesterday I made a Solas/Lavellan choices questionaire and received a ton of response posts. So I decided I would tally up answers, post the most popular choices, and add my own comments and musings about our Solas related choices and canons. Unfortunately, this may take me another day or so, so just bare with me! It's a bit more work than I expected...I had 48 people fill out my questionaire 0_0 now multiply that by the amount of answers (12) and you get my tears a lot of work. The biggest problem is I need to wait for my Likes to resupply, having everyone's filled out questions under my Liked posts makes it sooo much easier to navigate, and I also don't have Word and am doing all this on my email
. Anywhosewho, if anyone wanted to post answers but missed the opportunity my original post is on page 2147, just make sure you PM me the page you posted your answers or else they'll get lost in the tidal wave of posts from the Solas Thread!
My
for all the lovely replies to my questionaire. I will be back with the results *pulls cape over lower half of face and disappears into the shadows*

Oh my Lavellan was angry and responded accordingly. I just think she never really saw it coming. She's traumatized. lol anytime someone asks to go on a walk with her in a secluded lake, she's gonna be expecting the worst!
She's still angry and when she gets a chance to talk to him again, it'll be very similar to yours.
"Solas you will sit right there and listen to me. Oh it's my turn now!!" *raaaaage* Then maybe some hot angry sex and hopefully trying to come up with a solution to whatever the hell he's up to. Elven Glory indeed.

I don't think those constellations are an actual link between the old/ elven gods, but rather an indication of Tevinter supplanting elven tradition with their own.

AH. So no apparent internal structure. No raw lyrium either, unless that was vaporized by burnout, which suggests Liz is probably right about the dimensional pocket thing. It does seem to have the same overall tone and sheen as Mythal's empty vessel, which is... interesting. My brain wants to connect something with the volcanic glass angle of obsidian and dragon fire, but... hmm. The conchoidal fractures look a lot more like anthracite coal. Thematically, that's probably a better fit. Nothing solid to pick at yet, though.
Thank you so much for this!! I'm all out of likes, so theory face: ![]()

To me it seems to take things farther than the writers intended, rather than reading between the lines.
