Have you all heard this soundclip btw? It's pretty amazing.
But what if instead of leaving, Solas died?

What is this?!

Josephine will if you talk to her; Cole and Cassandra will mention it in banter with Solas, but they won't talk to you about it directly.

Oh thank god. Aithne just wants a hug.

And I have the card playing scene comnig up, so I'm headcannoning that they're taking her out for drinks to cheer her up.

Really? I like it most. Prefer taking a rift mage with me any day.

I picked Rift Mage but more for story reasons than the actual skills. The KE trainer seemed far too formal and regimented with the ranks and stuff. As for Necromancy, pulling spirits through the veil and forcing them to possess dead bodies. Nopenopenope. She really has issues with the whole slavery thing involved there. (Those issues are one of the reasons she merrily let Solas kill the mages in his quest and would probably have killed them herself if he hadn't).

Which left Rift mage, which seemed to be the one most tied into the mark on her hand which she really wants to know more about.

I think the ability to shapeshift into a dragon is something all the elven pantheon have, no?

I base this assumption on status of the gods (I remember not only Mythal having a statue with dragon wings)..

Anyhow, a dragon egg.. Wouldn't be bigger than a human. I can't see it as the moon :S

Fair enough.  But I think there are dragons, and then there are... Dragons.  The first are Ghil-created battle replicas of the second, which are the original seraphym forms of the Earth/Sun.

...in theory.

The way the world looks to me, none of the Pantheon (aside from Mythal and possibly Elgar'nan) have the ability to shapeshift directly into dragon form.  Mythal (Earth) and the rest of the Pantheon are fundamentally different entities.   The others have to enter a Uthenera-like state before their OGS can be redirected into a dragon body, if that makes sense.

What is this?!

It's from Torchwood.  It's a spin off from Doctor Who aimed at adults that had Gareth David-Lloyd playing one of the main character, Ianto Jones.  He was originally meant to be a really minor member of the team but the showrunners found he was fantastic at sarcasm.  So he went from 'coffee guy' to 'major character and main character's love interest'.

Teatime, you are so cruel! How many people are now going think that was actually Solas? Rather than Ianto... pure evil!

I loved Torchwood, well, most of it.  As soon as I hit the series where it was claimed that Torchwood was moving to the states I closed my browser and never went back again.  I'm sorry, but there is no Torchwood without Cardiff...

Ugh, The Qunari and the Kossith are a huge gaping hole of "no idea" in my theories.   I suspect they're an ancient-Tevinter Imperium-era breeding attempt to bolster the inherent Will (blood song volume) of sacrificial slaves by mixing elven and dragon blood, but that's not based on much more than an offhand comment by Corypheus that they were "a mistake" and that making the attempt seems like a logical move for Tevinter that would have blown up in their face.

Brutally strong, iron-willed dragon-slaves?  Yeah.  Nobody saw how that could have gone wrong.

Anyway.  Strongly suggestive, but not definitive.  We do know that magisters that pushed the envelope (so to speak) didn't like to do it anywhere near the heart of the Imperium itself.  It would make sense, then, that if this were an ancient experiment that backfired in rebellion, that the Qunari started a good distance away from the parts of Thedas we're familiar with.

As for the Pyramids and ancient humans, and exactly what went on there...  *utterly baffled shrug*    I suspect there was extensive dream manipulation involved both in building the Qun and preparing these ancient humans for the idea of willing subjugation to Order, but more than that is pure speculation.

Where do you get your sources?   Does Sten reference Kossith at all in DAO, or is it all Iron Bull dialog?

Sten doesn't really reference the kossith that I'm aware of. He shares several tales of Ashkaari, presumably Koslun, but nothing specific.

The kossith being 'different' from the Qunari and likely being different in appearance, and that the Qunari are not the majority comes from Iron Bull's dialogue.

The Par Vollen Pyramids: http://dragonage.wik...s_of_Par_Vollen

The constellation: http://dragonage.wik...llation:_Solium

How the Qun started according to them: http://dragonage.wik..._entry:_The_Qun

It's interesting that it's claimed that before the Qun, most kossith prayed to animist gods. And that the Qun became law, the temples built to honor the gods were destroyed and the priesthood was either reeducated or exiled. Perhaps this is simply inaccurate, or perhaps the Qunari established a theocracy in a single nation that proved anathema to the rest of the kossith, and that is the cause for their exile.

It's also possible that the pyramids are just devoted to the Sun constellation, and not Elgar'nan or his father, and we're crazy theory-crafters. But what are the odds of that?

Hm, how about Elgar'nan agreeing to raise Ghilan'nain to Pantheon level in exchange for breeding him a physically superior slave-army?

When the empire goes down, this new race is left leaderless, and break off into factions disagreeing on how to govern themselves.

I must admit, there are elements of the Qun I like.... "existence is a choice", "suffering is a choice, and we can refuse it", "it is in our power to create the world, or destroy it".

<snip> So I owe some thanks to Dirth Enansal over in The Black City Thread for bringing this up. http://dragonage.wik...ales:_Sacrifice http://dragonage.wik...reed_Are_Slaves http://dragonage.wik...Tales:_Invasion I've only started to look over them, but wow. Like.  :o So seven magisters are depicted. But so are Qunari. And someone is messing with the record of the picture. Two of the Seven in particular are messed with. Corypheus and the Architect, I would guess? Corypheus sounds like he's as close to being in charge of them as it got, what with the Conductor title. But we haven't met any other confirmed Magisters. Does this somehow tie into the Qunari kossith issue? Why is it called "Freed Are Slaves"? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?

<snip>

How about this one:

Are the horned men amongst the magisters here:

1) symbols for magisters who drink dragon blood in order to enhance their abilities or

2) Qunari, involved in the journey to the Black City?

Fun headcanon: Once, Qunari and Tevinter Magisters cooperatively launched a campaign to reach The Black City. They discover the "Maker" has long abandoned the throne... but the city, not so empty. They discover an ancient, immortal (corrupted) dreamer. In his anguish, and against the objections of their Qunari companions, Corypheus or another of the magisters, make a deal with the being - resulting in a corrupted Old God breaking free and inflicting "The Blight" upon the world. Furious, the Qunari delegates advise their kin to denounce magic and those who abuse it - breaking ties with Tevinter. Cue endless war.

That's the best part of Solas, though!  I forget who conceived of him as another Player in game (had to be Sister Squish, right?) but that's exactly how he works.  That's how he's able to be the eternal thorn in the side of both Order and Chaos.  You can't kill the guy.   He has so much control over his fade shadow presence (his "spirit" or "soul") that it's capable of acting as an independent self: a separate entity interacting with Thedas through his physical body- just like we work through Lavellan.  You can kill Dirthamen as many times as you want- the guy is just going to reload and come back.  The game isn't over until Falon'Din decides to throw down the controller and walk away.

So no dead Solas.  Not now.  Not ever.   Not unless you somehow destroy Falon'Din as well.

Shhh I still totally believe it, but we gotta keep it quiet in case somebody else thinks it is weird that it is I, not my game character, who has feelings for Solas!

In other news, my World of Thedas V.1 arrived! Yay!

For Josephine, I think she has to exhaust all of her other opening dialogue/you have to finish her personal quest. For the banter, maybe try wandering around for a bit with all three of them in your party? Cassandra actually kept asking Solas about my Inquisitor's vallaslin even after he said it was done in a private moment and she said she shouldn't have asked... >_> I don't know why that happened, but it was really awkward.

Tell me about it. Cassandra in my playthrough won't shut up about my Lavellan's vallaslin whenever I have her and Solas together in the party. =__=;

Probably a bug.

Oh. Thank goodness. For the not Solas part anyway. My heart sunk straight through the floor when I clicked play and thought it was him. I need to watch that show. Really soon, too. Netflix is losing it at the end of the month. Marathon time.

And Dr. Tea, you ought to be ashamed of yourself! HMPH.

Ah I never talked to Josie much that game, so that explains it. I actually wandered around with my party as Solas, Cass, and Cole to just to try and get some banters after all that... and they said not a peep :( I finally got annoyed and just decided to go get the end of the game over with :(

There's a banter bug that makes companion repeat banters.  Either that, or Cassandra has an Anders-level interest in vallalin.

Super late to the Myers-Briggs discussion and I'll be busy catching up from the posts from last night but...

ENFP here!

Interesting how many NFs there are in this group!

Is there a link? I haven't done one of those in years. All I remember is I am an I ><

Someone found it in Crestwood, I believe?

Hmm, I can think of one place it might be there. I'll go wandering around on Friday (damn I'm not going to get to play for two days ><) and see if I can find it. Thanks :)

Starling for my Lavellan.  In the same vein as the raven mentioned by scintilla, starlings are intelligent, social, and adaptable, with a surprising capacity for learning and mimicry.  Also not typically the sort of animal one thinks of as scary or intimidating, but the little creatures are very hardy and resilient, capable of thriving almost anywhere as long as they have a flock.

Huh, my biology nerdery is showing

My Lavellan's name is Starling!

Anyone know where it is that scene happens? I know the place with the lake scene with Cullen takes place actually exists in game; but I don't recall seeing the place Solas took us in game.

It's the wyvern cave in Crestwood. I actually did a quick analysis of the place.
