This is super good stuff. Skyhold's place in the larger picture represents a huge chunk of missing theory in my head, and you have a much better handle on the lore here than I do. How did you piece together the Peace Tree / War Table connection? And the hot springs-Dalish connection. Is that direct codex, or inference?
@w@
The Art of DA:I has a page about the Peace Tree/War Table, with a blurb about its origins. The Emprise hot springs story, I'm not sure if there's a codex, since I'm pretty sure that was from one of the landmarks, and those aren't always recorded. One that lengthy might have a codex though. I believe it was a landmark in one of the coliseums where the dragons hang out. It was framed as a Dalish elf explaining the lore of the area from a Dalish perspective.
Hmm, I can think of one place it might be there. I'll go wandering around on Friday (damn I'm not going to get to play for two days ><) and see if I can find it. Thanks
There's a place in Exalted plains with Halla statues like that iirc. Ghilar'nain's grove I think it's called. It's the general area that you go to for the Wyvern heart in Vivienne's personal quest. Not sure if it is the same place though. There may be statues like that in other places too. I've seen people saying it's in Crestwood, where there's a different wyvern you kill for a quest.
Oh. Thank goodness. For the not Solas part anyway. My heart sunk straight through the floor when I clicked play and thought it was him. I need to watch that show. Really soon, too. Netflix is losing it at the end of the month. Marathon time.
And Dr. Tea, you ought to be ashamed of yourself! HMPH.
It's ok.
Same. Yes. So much the same. I will never be okay with that plot development ever.
Spoiler
Ianto's death was dumb, but that was the moment I decided to never watch Torchwood again.
I tried to get into the show because it was on Netflix but it was just...not that great?? I actually tried because Merrill's VA is the main character on the show and I had great success with Claudia Black(Morrigan) and Farscape(MY FAVORITE SHOW EVER).
If there is any show that Dragon Age fans need to get into because of their VA, it's definitey Farscape.
This line always confused me but it occurs to me that she's referring to the actual talk they had that evening, before she fell asleep and went stalking Solas in the Fade.
Yeah that makes me crazy, too; I can't figure out what she is going on about unless it has to do with the talk about what happened on the way to Skyhold. Also, one of the conversation options in the jail is "This isn't about me..." which I have never picked, but maybe she is just impatient because she started all this by asking to know more about Solas and he seems to be waffling around talking about himself (duh).
Fair enough. But I think there are dragons, and then there are... Dragons. The first are Ghil-created battle replicas of the second, which are the original seraphym forms of the Earth/Sun.
...in theory.
The way the world looks to me, none of the Pantheon (aside from Mythal and possibly Elgar'nan) have the ability to shapeshift directly into dragon form. Mythal (Earth) and the rest of the Pantheon are fundamentally different entities. The others have to enter a Uthenera-like state before their OGS can be redirected into a dragon body, if that makes sense.
I understand, I think.
I think I've missed too much of your posts (I stopped following the thread, it sometimes takes an entire day of reading to catch up).
How does that work with Morrigan being able to transform into a dragon if she drinks from the well?

If you switch your brain off it's pretty good fun for two seasons. Viv's actress is also in it as another member of the Torchwood 3 team.
He is a porn actor. I am not normally into (visual) porn but I was persuaded to have a look when a poster on here said they thought Solas would make love like James Deen. Hence I watched the porn, then I wrote the porn
I wanted to just expand on James Deen, but I will put the explanation in a spoiler for those that prefer not to hear about porn. I guess it could be classified as NSFW. I really don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.
Spoiler
James Deen has become famous in the porn world for his not typical porn look and style. He looks like that nerdy skinny sweet guy that you would enjoy being in a relationship wit,h as apposed to a beefed up macho-man with not a single hair on his body that wants to do the most unpleasant positions. I haven't seen the stuff Sashimi was telling us NOT to google, but most James Deen porn tends to really focus on the woman and pleasing her in his scenes rather than the woman being a thing with holes that he can put his penis into. He has gathered a large following of female fans because he portrays sex in a way that many women find more pleasing. Also, he just looks a bit more natural/normal. He doesn't have insane muscles. He's kinda skinny and has hair on his body the way men do. Anyway, enough about that.
Hm, how about Elgar'nan agreeing to raise Ghilan'nain to Pantheon level in exchange for breeding him a physically superior slave-army?
When the empire goes down, this new race is left leaderless, and break off into factions disagreeing on how to govern themselves.
I must admit, there are elements of the Qun I like.... "existence is a choice", "suffering is a choice, and we can refuse it", "it is in our power to create the world, or destroy it".
Totally Solas-y bits in there, right? Solasy bits that have been twisted over time to support a message of tyrannical Order? The rise of the Qunari and the Qun is crazy suspicious in my head: it's just the Andrastean rebellion and the twisting of the Chant, but with horns. I know it's far too early to be this certain, but there's no doubt in my mind we're going to find the same eternal players at work behind the scenes.
Shhh I still totally believe it, but we gotta keep it quiet in case somebody else thinks it is weird that it is I, not my game character, who has feelings for Solas!
I knew that was you!
Anyway- *turns pink, coughs* -secret's safe with me. Have to resist letting the game get too meta, or we'll wind up with a hopeless long-distance crush on some Weekes guy in Canada we've never met.
Also, creepy coincidence, Amazon claims my copy of WoT V.1 is scheduled to be delivered today too. Time to dig in and take this whole thing apart, yeah? @w@
Teatime, you are so cruel! How many people are now going think that was actually Solas? Rather than Ianto... pure evil!
I loved Torchwood, well, most of it. As soon as I hit the series where it was claimed that Torchwood was moving to the states I closed my browser and never went back again. I'm sorry, but there is no Torchwood without Cardiff...
You're not missing much, that series was absolutely terrible.
They took a great premise, "What if everyone on Earth stopped dying, regardless of injury... while Jack is the only person who's now mortal" and made it absolutely boring, added the same old tired jokes about how the US and UK use different words for the same things, included too much filler and dull subplots that went absolutely nowhere, made how the immortality works inconsistent from one episode to the next, then ended with an explanation for it all that was frankly ludicrous.
I gave up after season three. That ending was so stupid.
Spoiler
Yes, Jack. Take your very human, very mortal boyfriend into a place with creatures that can release toxic gas at will! THAT will work wonderfully for you.
That ending was atrocious, especially since I always suspected that the 456 were merely con artists who were using the same kind of blood control as the Sycorax in Doctor Who's "The Christmas Invasion" into conning us to give them drugs (they did find out they were junkies after all) and had no real power to destroy the world.
I doubted that their species even knew about Earth either or had any plans to attack it, how hard is it to imagine that they were like the Sltheen family are to the Raxicoricofallopatorians, a bunch of bad eggs from a relatively nice species, who find backwater planets and decide to screw with them?
Spoiler
And Ianto's death was so very preventable, it was downright dumb of Jack to act so cavalier with his life by putting him in that situation.
Coupled with how easy Jack seems to bounce back later on after sacrificing his own grandson, it does make me question how they ever expected us to root for this character ever again? It gets worse when you remember how the Tenth Doctor's final gift to him, was to help him over Ianto and the death of his grandson by hooking him up with Alonso for a booty call... uh, what?

I think she's having deja vu because they talked about Haven and she doesn't yet realize she's in the Fade. I like to think her talks with Solas have been so vivid that it's hard to tell if it's reality or not. I don't know how people do it who can't roleplay their PCs as having heads half in the Fade as it is. Solavellan= true kindred spirits.
Can we also mention that the Freed Are Slaves mosaic features Qunari slaves? Not Elven? And it's like, way friggin old? And the Tevinter magister being a newer addition/ fix?
And what's that... SEVEN people overlooking the slaves? SEVEN? How many Old Gods are there? SEVEN?
Codex Entry Below
Agh I knew I was going to miss stuff because I'm not a completionist and can never find all those dratted pieces. BSN to the rescue. This is the stuff I bought the Prima guide for but it's kind of useless.
*sprained shoulder and can't type but hanging out in blanket fort anyway*
