I like Varric and I think I'll take him if I think there is a likelihood of needing some good ranged weaponry, swapping him out with Cole, because he is going to be better in tight situations.   This is what I used to do with Isabella and Varric if I wasn't playing a rogue myself.   On the whole I tend to go with a two mage, one rogue, one tank make-up and my first Inquisitor is definitely going to be a mage.

I know right, we're happy with tweets that even have the word "Solas" in it, doesn't matter in what context. But we'll be satisfied soon enough I hope, unless all of a sudden the world ends on Monday and we'll never get Solas info.. (that's the only thing that could stop the reveal, right? right!?)

Wow I woke up earlier than I thought. Now that had some rest I can tirelessly wait for new information until 1 a.m. again. Love the thirst gif! I'd say it describes the thread (or at least me) pretty accurately

 

btw Since some are posting who they might take around: I am probably going to be switching companions a lot but in a party with Solas I would say Male Human Mage Quizzy, Solas, Varric/Cole, and Iron Bull/Cassandra

I wonder if Solas isn't someone who follows the Chantry, or possibly someone who doesn't believe in the elven gods. He might be like Anders and despise the Chantry because of the whole "Mages are jerks" thing.

Haha welcome then, to our silly little village! As we're used to calling it. Stay a while and listen to our ramblings, which will probably become increasingly unintelligible because the day that Solas will reveal ourselves to us isn't far off anymore! (assuming that that day is somewhere next week, hopefully monday  )

I really hope the theories that Solas has some TME/ancient elven related ties are true. I'll be honest, if he turns out to just be a city elf apostate that ran off into the wilderness, I will be a little disappointed at this point. I mean, maybe if I knew early, but all the wait makes me hope it's something big.

I know what you mean. I have big hopes for this, especially since he's the last to be revealed. It'd be a bizarre if your resident Fade Expert and apparent Rift Expert just happens to be a runaway apostate. It just screams 'Ancient elven magics'.

You all realize that Sheryl herself "liked" this post, yes? So probably the best course of action.   "Team Crushed Expectations" could mean anything, including that this particular crew just really doesn't gel and/or is perpetually disappointed in one another. The writers were just playing. Wouldn't freak out about it.

I know what you mean. I have big hopes for this, especially since he's the last to be revealed. It'd be a bizarre if your resident Fade Expert and apparent Rift Expert just happens to be a runaway apostate. It just screams 'Ancient elven magics'.

And weren't there pictures of Arlathan released some time ago with the implications that we'd find it? It seems weird to do that and only have a couple city elves on the team.

Thing is, wouldn't being some sort of ancient elf be something that you'd find out as we went along?   I can't see him turning up and admitting as much straight off.  He'd try and pass himself off as a simple apostate until he knows if he can trust you or not.   At least that's what I would do if I was an ancient elf, particularly if I'd seen how elves are generally treated.  I'd guess that nobles, clerics and others might see me as a threat and try and get rid of me.    But an unassuming apostate would pass under the radar and allow me to study how the land lay before making any sort of reveal.  

 

So it is going to be really interesting just how much is revealed.   The less we are told, or the more commonplace he seems in comparison to the others, the more likely Solas is more than he seems.

Well, they were willing to tell us that Cole is on the spirit/demon spectrum and Iron Bull is a Qunari spy, so I wouldn't be surprised if they just came out and said it if Solas was an ancient elf.

Agreed I wouldn't want him to be on Anders' level of "fighter for freedom." I would rather him just be someone who is actually willing to use logic though. There were times in DA:O and 2 where I thought to myself there is no reason why some of these characters act the way they do such as Riordan not telling us sooner about the warden having to sacrifice themselves  or Anders blowing up the chantry.

If anything I think Dorian could be the revolutionary that most players might enjoy. Didn't the interview say that he disliked certain things about Tevinter? It would be interesting to see how he progresses as a character and what the other companion say about him.

Morning!  Soooo....... those dev tweets have me so curious.  I've loved Cass since the first time she went 'bullshit!' in DA2 and was hoping to use her in my party a lot, but wasn't sure how she'd get along with the misfit types I want to group her with.  Sounds like it'll go well... since I've already decided to use Cole as Rogue Choice A, and am leaning toward Solas as my default mage, I love that they'll seemingly get along.  I could definitely see her and Solas having intellectual debates, and her natural curiosity being directed toward Cole and overcoming whatever suspicion she may initially feel.  

 

I also rather like the idea of her playing 'mother hen' with Sera and Cole... what with Sera being determined to ignore Cole and Cole with his newfound penchant for mischief.  I could totally see him playing pranks on Sera while she just gets more and more frustrated until she can't help but do something back... And Cass being all "Knock it off, both of you!" 

 

As for the whole 'crushed expectations' thing... Think of all the people crushed because Sera was a fem only LI, and all the people (granted it wasn't a lot, but enough...) disappointed that Cole won't be romance-able at all.  And here we are, this sad little lot of Solas fans, whose hopes of getting something, anything, about our favorite elf have been crushed over and over again when it's not him but EVERYONE ELSE who keeps getting revealed while WE GET NOTHING   *takes deep breath*  I'm okay. Really.  We're all okay.  Surely they would not be so cruel as to not give us something next week....

I agree I like what they did with Cass. Also it looks to be not only great for banter, but a great party setup:
