Yes, the only thing that might make it iffy is if he truly would rather be alone.  Edited to add:  By which I mean in a way that goes beyond introversion.

 

But I think it could be fascinating if my theory about him being race-gated to characters who can't dream turns out to be true.  Then not only is Solas the mind of the Inquisiton, but he's also attracted to a person's mind instead of their physical body.  And really, that would be awesome, because he'd be literally loving that person for who they are.

Solas: Sure though I did not think it would be so strange as to examine the properties of your hand and figure out how it is tied to the Fade.

Solas: You looked like you were hurt when you closed that last fade rift. I just thought it would be a good idea to know why.

Inquisitor: Oh. Well uh...in that case never mind what I said you can...uh take my hand and examine it then.

Solas: Is something wrong Inquisitor?

Inquisitor: No, no, nothing wrong at all. I just thought you were...

Solas: Inquisitor, if I were to ever make such an advance on you at all it would have been much more clever than this. 

Inquisitor: I should have known. Sorry Solas.

Solas: Sorry is not going to cut it. You insulted my intelligence so much that it is going to take a lot more than an apology to make up for it.

Inquisitor: Well, what do you have in mind?

Amen. People automatically assume that the intellectual and focused and introverted characters are not interested in romance or other people. And many things in the media have held up that stereotype. I personally hate that trope and don't think that Solas's past introversion and avoidance of people means that he can never get close to somebody or fall in love. Here's hoping BioWare breaks the mold and doesn't turn him into another Mordin type.

 

Also, the more I think about Solas being race-gated, the more I REALLY don't like it. He's all about looking beyond and being open-minded. Not wanting to be with someone just because they can't dream seems really silly to me, for someone who is meant to be so open-minded. I would accept him being race-gated but I won't lie, I'd be giving a serious side-eye until I see how the game explains it.

You're totally allowed to give it the side-eye, but romantic / sexual attraction doesn't belie close-mindedness.

Honestly, "gated against people who can't dream" is the ONLY race-gating I think I'd accept with Solas, if he's an LI, because of his supposed open-mindedness.  Yes, it would stink for him to be gated against anyone at all.  I would definitely prefer it if he's available to all.   Unfortunately the reality is... we don't know who's going to be gated.  My suggestion is to point out that it could be Solas, rather than Varric, IF the gated romances aren't already revealed.

 

My gut is still telling me that it is Varric, though, and my primary disappointment in that is that it means two returning characters for women, rather than new characters to get to know.  Otherwise, I really can't say I have anything against Varric, beyond my preference for Solas and my hope that the final LIs are bisexual so all have equal options.

ahhh. so true. i keep hearing people say that he seems too introverted and too much of a loner to be an LI. i'm an introvert and a total loner and i can be very romantic (when it comes to love and just my outlook in general) (one of the reasons i was drawn to cassandra i think)

i mean, he might want to be alone, and that's fine. but i'm just saying, i like to be alone too, i want to be alone most of the time, but i am still very invested in my relationships and when i love i tend to love very deeply

 

I think that the intellectual and introverted traits that he has could work towards giving him an even deeper romance just because of the fact that he'd probably want someone that he can connect to on a deeper level. That definitely makes sense to me as i'm much the same. I just don't see where those silly intellectual = can't love ideas come from.

Can't agree more. Solas being intelligent is something I think would make him very unique in this game when it comes to the romantic aspect of the game. I very much would like to see a romance where the LI uses their intelligence to flirt with you in a way different from all of the other LI. The banter I posted some posts above was me wanting Solas using his intellect to flirt with the Inquisitor in his own way. It would be a nice change. I can kind of see Solas being the one hinting at an attraction for the Inquisitor before the Inquisitor even attempts to make a move or notices when Solas is actually showing interest in him/her.

sorry I'm late I just haven' been in a very talkative mood today....

As a fellow introvert, I am completely bias towards Solas and I think it would be a really deep and wonderful romance even if it ended in tears. I'm just so unsure right now if the devs agree. (Honestly, I just have a feeling that Iron Bull's romance is not going to be all fun and games people think it will be. Between PTSD and his belief in the Qun...it could get a little rocky! That is not a bad thing and I think it amazing that they worked really hard to make him available to everyone.)

 

I can see Cullen, Viv and Varric race gated based on what we know. Solas would take some explaining based on the comments made about him. I am not sure I buy the dreaming theory fully (though it is a good one) cause all the Inquisitors will have the magic fade hand that could by pass that whole thing.

I have to say, I find the idea that he would dismiss someone for not being able to dream the furthest thing from open minded. It would give me the impression that he feels they're not worth getting to know because they can't connect with him in the way he wants.

I'm not sure they'd have planned Solas to be gated against dwarves because Iron Bull was surely also gated towards dwarves. Seems more likely the other male LI was gated towards maybe Qunari.

Hmm... Hard to say. I use the internet to find things to go out and see. And, regarding knowledge, the internet is kind of a double-edged sword. On the one hand it makes knowledge and discovery easier to access. On the other hand, it makes it easier for people to spread lies and harmful ideology. But, Solas seems to be the type to think people should be free to believe as they wish and walk their own path. Also, I'm sure he'd find google earth incredibly handy while looking for cool places to wander to.
