Urks! Friend of mine is past Winter Palace Quest and suspects Solas is eiter a priest of Fen'Harel or the Dread Wolf himself.

I need an argument why he can't be! ... I know it's hard, seeing how she's totally right, but I don't want her to know for sure so early on ^^

The best lie has some truth.

Just tell her "He's something, but I can't tell you what and you can't spoiler it for yourself."

Does anyone have a link but without Kieran/OGB?

If you mean the scene in the Fade then that doesn't exist without Kieran.

I don't recognize this scene. Is it player made?
Or is it just not familiar because the graphics on my xbox are crap?

You're right. Telling her there's nothing at all sounds unbelievable. ^^

Honestly, I didn't get it until I started watching the show. So it's probably all mixed up with my love of how they are doing the characters and show overall getting mixed up into it.

Since we're still talking about Sherlock... yes, it's really like Solas. You see Cumberbatch and think he looks WEIRD. You need to experience it to understand it. I too had a moment when I thought Solas actually looks a bit like Cumberbatch. During that scene where he talks to quizzy after the attack on Haven in the snow by the blue fire. Very well done scene.

I still think Solas looks rather ugly, but from certain angles, like Sherlock, it's... damn. But it's mostly the voice with both of them for me and their personality. But I gotta say, like discussed the other day, Solas has a really nice body for an elf. That camp outfit suits him very well. Both he and Sherlock have that slim but slightly muscular physique.

And YES, smart is sexy as hell! Like omg...

(I'll never comment on his looks again because I'm too old for this girly stuff. Nevermind that I could stare at Dorian's patch of bare shoulder for an hour. This is all sooo beneath me. I need to keep nurturing my fake aloof  asexuality image. So not drooling over anybody. *cough*)

It's the final romance scene taken with flycam to get another angle.

He is the Dread Wolf himself: Dread wolf slept like abou 1000 years..

in the end he says that basically he had all his power inside the orb ( mortal could not handle it ) and he says: '' I was too weak to unlock it after my slumber ''

<-- so after his sleep for 1000 years...

He is the Dread Wolf because.. Flemeth says that she is Flemeth but is carrying Mythal with her. She is a part of her BUT she says '' You should not have given your orb to corypheus.. dread wolf '' and he does not answer in any other way but saying that he could not unlock the power after his long sleeping time which he had time to search the fade basically and knows so much about it.. more than anyone else... he says it was his mistake. I believe he IS the Dread Wolf itself. Now.. the way he reacts to everything and since it was told straight that he is it is obivious.. now the storied about dread wolf are another thing because he seems to be always reflecting to that the fact that those stories were not really correct because ancient elven is not so known language anymore so it is very hard to translate. (which he seems to be able to know perfectly which is the reason your character does not understand some pars where he speaks the ancient elven.. yet I find it funny how she is not questioning him about it I mean.. she might think it is what he learned in the fade but.. she does not questio that he does not look so old and he speaks it perfectly? Always when he wants to... knows things about the orb and everything else that no one else does.. haha I think lavellan is being as ignorant as we all were with the first gameplay and she was not really focusing on those parts so well lol)

Yea, if there is no OGB in your world state you just go to a grove and summon Mythal and have a nice funny convo with Flemeth. And as much as I love Morrigan, I died laughing when Flemeth showed up because Morrigan was so set on drinking and had no regard for the consequences.

But Morrigan doesn't care, does she? She even harassed HoF into killing her and take away her grimoire.

She certainly does not seem to... as she seemed when either you or her had to drink from well to be only power hungry.. honestly.. after you decide to drink from it she acts so bitchy. I hate it because you can see that she wanted that power for something else too after the breach is closed.. she is so ignorant.. does not never seem to want to know the whole story or a thing about everything or have a doubt. She seems like a person that '' BECAUSE I THINK IT IS LIKE THIS IT MUST BE ''

Yet she agrees if she is mistaken but she does not think things further the way she should.. sadly.

Do you know the phrasing on that? There's a difference between has passed it to and her wanting too.

This is Flemeth from the previous two games. In this game, Flemeth's story comes to a head-- she knew that Solas would summon her, and that he would need to steal her power to further his plans. She knew that because they are both elven gods... yet Solas has slept for a thousand years and his power dwindled, while she was killed long ago and a spark escaped from her into the body she now holds. She has nurtured that spark, and knew that Solas would need it. He was once her oldest friend, but she knows that in his drive to restore the elven people he will kill anyone-- even her. She intends to let him have the power, so long as she can pass the essence of her god-hood onto Morrigan, a gift Flemeth had always planned for her daughter yet one Morrigan misunderstood as hostile possession."

Is there somewhere to read all of the lore regarding the elven history? I've only seen the wiki page and it gives what feels like snippets of a very large story.

So am I the lone ISFP in this thread? I've seen plenty of variations of the Is, but didn't notice a fellow ISFP yet. :'(

I MISSED ALL THE GLORIOUS THEORIES! *weeps*

That being said.

Okay, yeah, Liz got it. I think. Yeah. Qunari, dwarves, elves, all slaves marked by variants of vallaslin in the days of the Pantheon.

A few caveats for some of the conversations going on after.

Ironically, I think Solas would make a wonderful Ashkaari. Both he and Koslun have story elements in common with various religious philosophers. The locusts and the Blight thing is...quite interesting.

I really don't see Par Vollen as the domain of Dirthamen, Falon'din, or Fen'harel, in any combination. While the Anubis angle could point out, it's very specifically pointed out that, while there are some bodies interred within the pyramids, they are not mausoleums. It seems their purpose was religious. And they match up perfectly to the Sun Constellation, associated with Elgar'nan.

Giant, horned creatures that struggle with violence and bloodlust. Sounds exactly like the sort Elgie would want.

The pyramids were likely Elgar'nan's own temples, complete with Well and Sentinels. The horned figures depicted as being honored are likely figures like Abelas. Slave-warrior-priests, devoted to guarding the Pyramids.

As for the Arlathan Empire spanning the world. Well, why not? It doesn't have the typical logistical problems. The elves didn't settle everywhere, they settled in places they liked. Arlathan Forest, but not Tevinter. Orlais and the Arbor Wilds and the Dales and the Frostbacks and Sundermountand the Brecillian Forest, but not the Bannorn. Eluvian travel let them hop between their pick of real estate. Why not hop to other colonies?

As for the question of why the kossith colony was in the Korcari Wilds, well. Personally, I suspect the writers were trying to salvage the screw-up of ogres being present in the First Blight. Or maybe they were blown off course. A civilization capable of colonization means a civilization that's organized into a nation-state capable of funding such expeditions and one that has competition in trading and goods, generally speaking. And from what the Qun speaks of the kossith homeland, it sounds quite settled.

The Qunari's Viking thing? Pardon? :o

I mean, I drool over the Arishok AND surprisingly hygienic Norse raiders. But I don't really see any connection.

For the Qunari/kossith having originally been slaves thing, it's worth noting that their religion was animistic before the Qun.

Ok, so that still seems to indicate to me that she doesn't oppose what Solas wants to do. The question is can her godhood be separated from her power? If not, I would say Solas definitely has all of Mythal now (and could if he chose to control the person who drank from the well) and will later pass that on to Morrigan if she ever gets to the point where she would be willing.

Also... Par Vollen Pyramids. The F*** is up with that?  It's like the Qunari were Spaniards waltzing into Thedas' Aztec/ Incan Empire.

I dunno... this means something, but what? WHAT?!

I've only just started my second playthrough where I want to take notes and then I need to play DAO and DA2 again because I remember only the bare bones. So at my rate, I'll have a theory when DA4 comes out. Maybe.

EDIT: See, I forgot already, maybe the whole Anubis theme does work. I'm not sure, I must investigate that at some point... I'm not sure yet which of the crazy theories I believe.

You write too much... too fast... can't you... can I have this thread as an audiobook? Or we split it into different threads, so I can at least keep connected ideas somehow... connected... sort of? Aaahhh

To be honest, the wiki is a hot mess and it doesn't connect Codex entries to other relevant codex entries very well, if at all. One I can think of off the top of my head that was lacking any connections to other codex entry wiki pages at the time was The Guide of Falon'Din. Took me forever to find it because I couldn't remember the exact codex entry by name. Which that wiki pretty much insists you do.

Maybe this needs to be a Solas-threadwide project.

Where we can theorycraft all information in one place.

Nah, she's just sketchy around details and avoids telling the whole truth, like someone we all know. And, like she said, she just wants to preserve what once was. I picture her romantic like that, yeah. Morrigan is well-versed in elven lore, it's not her fault, the lore itself is glitchy.

But because of her survival instincts, harsh childhood experience and overall psychological trauma she wants her mother dead. Oh well. And, in my opinion, old habits die hard, she won't change her mind, even after plot-twist-dances and astonishings revelations.
