Definitely. I just wish I had more to go off of, but I suppose that's just how they'll keep me coming back. I do wonder then, if perhaps the two members of the pantheon who don't become Old God Dragons (blatantly assuming that's true, totally get if that's not your cup of tea) didn't because they weren't capable of it?

I dunno. The brain fire I had yesterday is gone! Par Vollen's pyramids just don't have enough surrounding lore and codex entries for me to say anything about them or anything related to them with certainty. Like the Profane. I just... I can't even. The Profane only make sense to me if they were feasting on the Forgotten Ones. Which is creepy as ****.

I'm assuming in this scenario the two who didn't switch over would have been Ghilan'nain and Fen'harel. They would probably be either extremely powerful elven magisters that had been elevated to the pantheon, or some other form of greater spirit. The main issue with this theory is Mythal. Mythal is definitely the god most likely to be a dragon, but she's also the god least likely to have jumped ship. But then again, there's also so much connection between Dumat and Mythal that I suppose it can't be completely ruled out either.

Not a theory I am sold on, or anything. Just a thought. I would love to know a little bit more about the Forgotten Ones.

Thanks for this! Aww, that was kind of cute (and sad in a way).

Wait, he doesn't mention his infatuation to Surana?  I guess, yeah, it's because of the whole "Amell" thing since Amell is the one related to Hawke but still. (And yes it irks me too that the human protagonists seem to be favored.)

BTW has anyone noticed that all the human PCs in Dragon Age tend to be of noble origin or at least tied to nobility? Cousland, Amell, Hawke (through Leandra), Trevelyan...

Yes. Since Hawke is related to the Amells, he mentioned he knew an Amell once. If the Warden Amell was male, he says it casually. If the Warden Amell was female, he gets this dreamy look on his face and sighs wistfully. Since Hawke obviously isn't related to the Suranas, he never mentions them. Again, I understand the story reason, but come on!

And yes, I have noticed. It's one of the many reasons I refuse to play as a human. I was born into poverty and slowly climbed out as I attended rich kid schools all my life, and had to be the empoverished Jew among WASP kids born with silver spoons in their mouths. I relate to Thedas elves too much to be able to play a noble-born human with more privilege just from being born than most elves experience in their lifetime.

So I went to the DA wiki to read about the Par Vollen pyramids... and apparently, just like with egyptian ones, their locations corresponded to specific constellations. Interesting.

Also: "The pyramids and other ruins of Par Vollen's ancient civilization also feature murals of the natives interacting in a subservient manner with horned beings who are not Qunari."

I think it's the Iron Bull that mentions that the Qunari were fleeing something when they came to Thedas, and that the current Qunari are not similar to the Kossith. Makes me wonder if they were enslaved in some way?

The Kossith remind me of the Sith for some reason >.>

This is OT, but I wanted to share in case peeps hadn't seen it yet.

An easy-to-use hair recolor utility, for character creation, has been released on the Nexus

Bravissimo modders, you are all precious to me. <3

Oooh, I like that! Very good option as well. Although the breeding thing makes me a little ill. Mostly because that word makes me think of brood mothers and that... ugh. Makes me not want to eat for a week. I'll hop in game and grab that image of the half-human-half-dragon fresco in the Emerald Graves.

Well, Iron Bull does talk about the possibility of the breeding with dragon blood, but he does say something about being by magical means instead of... the regular way.  :)

 That would be amazing... I'm totally going to be sad if he doesn't say something like that now! But you solved my problem because now I need to find out if he does say something :D

I did a romanced warden Alistair with a dead warden hoping he would say something. He never even mentions her at all. There's not even an option to as him. When you leave him in the fade he says "for the wardens!"
It really upset me that he never talked about her.

I wanted something like "I'll see you soon my love" too. But it was like they never had a relationship.

Perhaps this was one of the things that spurred Fen'Harel to do his rebellion thing -- the fact that both he and Ghilan'nain weren't born into the pantheon but were raised up into it.

Okay, work has calmed down for me this morning so I'm ready to theorize!

Is that the right stage?

I would pay so much money for a book about younger Fen'Harel and how he became part of the Pantheon and everything that comes after. But we'll never have it because it would give away far too much.  :(

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a future book Solas makes a direct cameo in, though (arguably he had a presence in TME but that can't be confirmed). That's what they tend to do with game characters in the DA books.

I think it'll be really, really difficult for them to write about anything Ferelden- too many gigantic differences between games. I mean I guess they could go their own particular cannon route, but I think they try to avoid directly referencing our games, at least in past they have.

I like the idea of going into the past though, or from characters like Solas and the history of the pantheon. I basically NEED to have that in my hands or I'll write it myself my own way. lol.

Yeah, that really is the unfortunate thing. Most theories are plausible, since we don't really have a lot of direct evidence. There's evidence that fits a lot of different outcomes and possibilities.

I think it is a safe bet that dragons factor in somehow, given how important dragons seem to be to the universe.

Given that we have two sources of "pre-veil history" in the Chant and Dalish myth, I think there's just enough to sketch out the broad strokes of what most likely happened, so long as we account for the inherent bias and warp of each source and extrapolate backwards.

Nobody else has to be on board, of course, but I'm pretty comfortable with the Earth and Sun as draconic Makers, elf-spirits as the first Children, (with plausible divergence in Elgar'nan's nature possibly making him first, the Elves his Children with Earth) conflict between Sun and Child over obedience/free will sparks first rebellion, Mythal sides with Child, Sun struck down but not killed, sealed in Void and Stone, veil raised to separate Stone-Thedas from Fade, newly-physical Elves start society that eventually becomes Elvhenan, need for social structure causes Pantheon to form, etc, etc, etc...

This is no doubt inaccurate in spots (the moon is still weird- could it be the first attempted world from Dalish myth?  Elgar'nan's egg?  Somehow related to the veil?) but the overall structure seems to fit and helps explain why things work the way they do.

Anyway.   Whether the dragons we have today are simply the offspring of Ghil's beasts crafted in emulation of the first Makers, or actual offspring of the Earth depends a great deal on whether Elgar'nan is Elvhen or Dragon.   I can't find convincing evidence either way, at this point.

Though in a meta-game sense, the whole thing seems far more thematically satisfying if Dragon.  It would make the Earth's cyclical sacrifice pattern a bit more pat, ending in the reflection of Morrigan and Kieran.

Awesome! Does he say that about Surana, or just Amell? -_-

I understand the story reason, but it irks me that Cullen mentions his infatuation with the Warden Amell in DA2 but not Surana. (It just felt like yet another way they openly favored human protagonists over elven ones.) I would be really put out if she was left out this game too.

In DAI he says it about Surana.  I've never played an Amell and my canon is a Surana so I've heard him say the line a few times (I find it ironic that she didn't fancy Cullen back and then went and hooked up with Alistair.)

I was one of the people who was really hoping that the Surana and Brosca families would get a mention in DAI.  DAO had a lot to do with the Coulsand and Aeducan and the Tabris family cropped up a bit in the main game and Leliana's Song, DA2 with the Amells and Mathariel but the Broscas and Suranas get no love.

Yes, he dumps you because you don't love him enough.  If you take Knight Enchanter you immediatly enter into a romance with Vivienne.

Absolutely no. He is even happy about the Knight Enchanter, since it is based on the Arcane Warriors (elven lore). I don't know Necromancy.

No.  You get the same relationship with him no matter what class you play.  He MAY comment on your specialization - but that's for non-LI as well - if you're a mage.

See, a BFF romance with Dorian would be awesome.  Instead of kissing or sex we'd just high five each other all time.
