I love Cassandra too much to be mad. Also I cannot roleplay as religious. I can roleplay as having respect for other people's beliefs- which I did. I just pretended I said 'don't be rude'.
I don't play characters that are religious either (I just can't; I'm too secular in real life), but my characters do revere history, tradition, and heritage. The Temple of Mythal is a remnant of Lavellan's people's history, culture, heritage, tradition, and so on. The fact that Cassandra shows such blithe dismissal of a people's culture just because it's not her own is what bothered me. It's like, "You would never say 'why are we bothering?' if this was a Temple of Andraste. You would believe we should show respect for that place and everything it stands for instead of charging blindly through, yet we shouldn't show respect here just because it's not your god, not your heritage, tradition or culture?"
See, I actually felt bad for Cass at the Temple of Mythal. I had Solas and Cole with me, so here's my Lavellan nerding out over the Temple, Solas and Morrigan being snippy, Cole being...Cole, and poor Cassandra.
I also was willing to cut her some slack since faith is such an important part of her life, and the Temple of Mythal seems to rattle her. What does it mean for her belief if all this creepy ancient elven stuff works and is real? It's the same reason why Sera reacts so badly to the Temple, though Cass is tactful enough to keep it to a few lines rather than a full-blown argument.
I also just adore Cass. I pretty much adore everyone (except Blackwall. Sorry buddy)
Yeah, for all my griping my Lavellan still considers Cassandra one of her closest friends and most trusted allies (right next to Dorian) despite their differences in religion, beliefs, cultural values, and approaches to solving problems. I just still don't feel she showed her best colors at the Temple. ![]()

How well would your Warden and Quizzy get along? (Ignore question if you play self inserts
)
And how would your Warden react to Solas or vice versa? (So the post is at least somewhat on topic!)
Edit: You can of course also ignore the questions altogether, that works too ![]()
AND I hope the use of "vice versa" is correct in the second one ^^
And how would your Warden react to Solas or vice versa? (So the post is at least somewhat on topic!)
I must ignore the question.
However: we had Skyrim house modding today. Don't bother with "on topic".

Random Post of the Day:
I have concluded (after giving this way too much thought in lieu of Doing Work) that my canon Lavellan fully expects Solas to return, because of the anchor if nothing else, and that when he does she is going to take him by the ear until he's on board with a 'Free All The Things' invasion of Tevinter.

I'm not sure why this post made me really happy, but it did. Here, have a like.

My (Mahariel) Warden would like my Inquisitor a lot, I feel like--he's always had a soft spot for other elves to begin with, and he'd respect her ability to lead something like the Inquisition, especially while holding on to her own beliefs and not letting all of the humans walk all over her. (The letter from him in the game made me really happy, haha.) Her inquisitive nature/thirst for knowledge might remind him a bit of Merrill, too.
I don't think my Warden would like Solas much at all, because he's... really pro-Dalish... he tolerates the beliefs of other elves and doesn't usually get pushy about things, but he would not be happy about the attitude Solas has regarding the Dalish. He would be confused about how the hell my Lavellan and Solas ended up together, honestly. He might offer to set her up with someone from his clan. >_> They might be able to get along eventually, but it'd take a while, especially if he saw any of the interactions between Solas and Morrigan. If Morrigan doesn't like you, my Mahariel probably won't.

1. My Warden, Hawke and Quizzy all have similar personalities... and they also look almost the same... and they are all mages... I hope I at least gave them different names... *ahem* I think they'd get along quite well. I've picked Surana for my canon PT; I think that my Lav wouldn't be comfortable talking to a Mahariel, since it'd be hard for her to return to her old culture and people knowing that so many things they believe in are wrong.
2. My Surana'd like him. She's all about magic, the Fade, and history, so she'd probably trail after him asking to tell moar. She'd be skeptical about some things - at least at first - and I can totally imagine them ingaging in some kind of intellectual debates about magic ![]()
So I've been looking into a lot of elven language stuff and I noticed that all of the elven gods have very literal translateable names.
Falon'din
Easy one. The translation is used as his epithet. "Falon" = "friend". "Din" = "not" or "isn't" and is often used to denote someone who is dead (so someone who "isn't"). Thus, "Friend of the Dead".
Dirthamen
Trickier. "Dirtha" is the verb form of "Dirth", which is "speak" or "knowledge". "Men" I have no idea. So his name probably means something like, "[something] speaker".
Elgar'nan
"Elgar" = spirit. "Nan" = vengeance. So..."Spirit of vengeance"? It fits with his myth and supposed temperament.
Fen'harel
Our beloved Dread Wolf. However, given what we know about the corruption of the word "Harel", it's probably more like "Rebel Wolf".
Ghilan'nain
From what I've managed to piece together, "Ghilan" means "path". "Na" is "your" and "in" is "with" or "inside". So a possible translation might be, "The Path within yourself".
Andruil
All I can puzzle out for her is that "An" = "place". I haven't seen "dru" or "il" used in any elven words (so far as I know). So she seems to be "Place of [something]".
Running short on time. So if anyone wants to tackle June and Sylaise feel free. ![]()

Warden and Solas;
My warden and Solas would... probably not get along. Amell is a bit egotistical and eccentric. They'd have intelligence as a common bond, but ultimately, I think Solas would dislike Amell for the same reasons that he dislikes Morrigan. Amell has a very set idea about what he thinks of his magical research, and he isn't interested in hearing outside opinion unless its from a trusted advisor. [AKA: his wife.] He's a bit of a snob, and doesn't really care too much about the common man. He's not evil, just extremely slow to break from pragmatism. He's very different from his righteous cousin in Kirkwall.
He's very devoted to Morrigan and Kieran. While he can be a bit 'out there', if he had any reason to believe either of them were in danger, he would bluster around making a nuisance of himself.
Warden and Lavellan;
They would not really understand each other. Although my Lavellan has interests in magical research, most of Amell's theories are still grounded by the circle. She would find him a strange human, and probably not like having him around. He has a habit of getting into everything, and as something of a busy-body herself, she would be a bit put off by suddenly having this overactive human to run circles around in addition to everything else.
Dirthamen
Trickier. "Dirtha" is the verb form of "Dirth", which is "speak" or "knowledge". "Men" I have no idea. So his name probably means something like, "[something] speaker".
Maybe something like "Keeper of knowledge"? (= keeper of secret knowledge, keeper of secrets)
Or "Speaker of... " something.

I actually love the idea of my Warden and Quizzy teaming up. They'd be the buddy cop duo: the cynical-but-good-hearted veteran (Soria Amell), and the energetic and idealistic newbie (Clariel Lavellan). While I'm glad we got to see Hawke and quizzy team up, I think my Lavellan and Amell would have gotten along much better.
As for Solas, he would drive my Amell absolutely batty and vice versa; she's basically a grumpy, practical action hero. The older she gets and the more she sees of Thedas and its people, the less patience she has for the detached, know-it-all attitude that Solas has. Thedas would be a better place if instead of musing over the nature of evil, good people just got off their asses and applied the boot of righteousness. If she ever heard Lavellan talk about the relationship and breakup, she'd probably just tell Lavellan to dump his sorry butt ![]()

These are great questions.
Tabris and Lavellan: I think they would get along. I imagine my Tabris was casual, nonchalant, sassy and smart-mouthed in her heyday, but the years have taken their toll. Where she was once energetic and vivacious, now she's older, wiser, tired and worldweary. Her decision to keep Alistair a Warden and become Bann of the Denerim Alienage has haunted her because she constantly fights with Queen Anora over how her people should be treated. I think she's still deeply dedicated to her people though, and would love to meet another living elven hero who is also trying to help the People. Not only that, but one who is younger, fresher, making real political changes, and is going farther to gain elves' right than she ever could. Lavellan, in turn, looks up to Tabris for being one of the most influential elven heroes alive, and would be thrilled to meet her.
Tabris and Solas: I think she would like him at first, until he let slip that he doesn't respect most elves / doesn't really consider himself to have much in common with other elves. My Lavellan is diplomatic and open-minded, but my Warden is pig-headed about her devotion to elves. A lifetime of "knife-ear this, and knife-ear that, and knife-ear fall behind!" has left her judging people almost solely based on how they view elves. She's wary about liking them until she knows what their views of elves are. If they show open-mindedness, acceptance, and/or sympathy, she likes them. If they reveal some prejudice, then it's "Nope! Bye!"

I don't have any Solas gifs, but I did get some decent Dragon hunting screenshots using flycam.
"Should we, or shouldn't we?"

"Too late. We did."

I still blow chunks at using it on cutscenes though. Willow Senpai, please teach me.
Argh! You all get likes from me right now ![]()
It's so cool to read through this. Exactly why I love it when you can play your own char instead of just playing with some guy you can't influence ![]()
My Lavellan was always a fan of Hero stories. Then I realized that she also must have heard of the Warden then... And I guess they would come along quite well. Lavellan mildly fangirling about Tabris. They'd not agree on everything, especially because Lav is such a rookie and Tabris basically lived a soldier's - or better: A Warden's life for over ten years now. Tabris is rather practical, Lav is a little dreamy. But they'd have enough common ground.
And Solas... He's not a fan of City elves, Grey Wardens... I guess it would be complicated between the two of them!
So I took Sera along for the temple of mythal quest. Garnered a lot of disapproval. She called Abelas "Dusty Butt" and made fun of the ancient elf woman who was guiding us t.t
I was so unimpressed with her. Like is it too much to ask for you to be silent if you can't be respectful?
DAO: Romanced Alistair (made him king I was elf and did not spoil so I did no know)
He dumbed me
DA2: Romanced Fenris (He leaves you, comes back gladly)
ME1: Romanced Kaidan ( leaves you on ME2 )
ME2-3: Romanced Thane ( HE DIES T_T)
DAI: Romanced Solas (DUMBS YOU)
OMFG BIOWARE WHY YOU PLAY WITH MY FEELINGS
I have a quick question for the lore specialists on this thread. Was it ever canon that the other elhven gods also have foci, or only Solas/Fen'Harel? The fact Dorian calls it by another name and links it to the somnarium makes me wonder a few things.
I'm just going to put this here
No, I am not obessed with the Elven Pantheon...Not all all. Nope.

Solas says that they are elven artifacts, used to channel the power of the gods. This, and his banter with Dorian, is pretty much everything we know about those orbs.

Oh yeah, I agree. Personal Story: So I went to the industrial/goth club in the city with some friends - it's a super famous club - at one point(80's-90's) it was the PLACE to be if you were into that. Now it's not uncommon to see people not in the scene there. It's chill. So we're there. I'm dancing and my drunk friend is just making fun of all the actual goth kids there. I'm like 'no dude, this is their space. just be cool.' that's how i feel about cassandra. i can't hate her though and I feel for her a bit. she must be freaked. her religion is entirely based on faith. the unknown and the unseen - as solas says ' i like the idea of your maker. no desire to prove/show himself'(or whatever). with the temple of mythal - the gods are very real. the stories coudl be very real. their power and magic very real.
My greatest sorrow is that, despite stealing all my mage clothes, Solas does not wear them for his final meeting with Flemeth. I would have paid good money to see Solas dressed up in the crazy pimp outfit for that.
Flemeth: ...
Solas: Don't laugh my girlfriend made it for me.
Flemeth: oh that's just precious.
Did someone say pimp Solas?
I think he is dashing ![]()
