I must admit that one thing I do admire about Solas is his self control even if you take him on the Hushed Whispers quest and he is sick from inhaling red lyrium, yet he still gives nothing away.    I'm also glad I did his romance first because I came at it fresh and without cynicism.    I really do see saw between love and anger now.    I'm actually looking forward to doing the run as a male elf and not being blinded by love, so able to take different dialogue options instead of the heart icon.   It will be interesting to see whether we end up buddies or not.    I also noticed that the cards for my Dalish hunter include that of a black wolf, which I assume is meant to indicate my prey or possibly my outlook on life as that of a wolf - which is superbly ironic given what we now know about Solas.     I wondering whether to give him a wolf name, not that the in game characters will respond to it, but even so it will be fun to have my Inquisitor wolf confront Fen'Harel.

Wow. That was an hour of people speaking, hardly saying anything. As if every sentence was just a desperate copy of "Sorry... I really cannot tell you." I so felt their pain.

Anyhow.. I don't know. That break he speaks of... that is a bit like the ME-ending-debate all over again. Tell the fans what they want to hear. Maybe they really intended that from the start but I am not convinced. Maybe because all the other "breaks" in voices (with Cullen or Blackwall, e.g.) are so massive and this one is barely (?) there. Why not make it a bit heavier, let the Inquisitor ask what's wrong and let Solas come up with some vague explanation or simply change the topic to speak of the vallaslin? That's their usual style.
 

 

 There is a break there - it's really really subtle.  It's the 2nd time he says "the truth". There's a pause and his eyes shift. You can see before how happy he is, how assured he is. It takes two seconds for that resolve to crumble and his eyes narrow and his speech becomes a bit less composed.  Blackwall and Cullen are not as smart and not as composed as Solas.  Solas is quicker on his feet.

I have wondered if unlike Ghilan'nain who was uplifted to godhood Fen'Harel simply became so powerful that the Creators had to count him as one of them. By putting him under their banner Elgar'nan and Mythal could perhaps control him a bit. I think the story he tells about his origins is true it's just not the whole story and happened a millenia ago. 

 

I have many Wardens but as we're talking about Surnana I'll stick with her.

 

While my Lavellan isn't at all Merrill like she's a rank amature in the cesspool of human politics compared to Katerina. Anriel wouldn't understand the level of cynicism she holds but they do share a love of exploring and discovering new things. If they got along would depend on what brought them together.

 

Solas would hate Katerina because she relentless and with such a high cunning stat he'd never get away with the 'I saw it in the Fade' nonsense with her.

My Lavellan has a mischievous streak, but between getting together with Solas and hanging out with Sera, she's a real terror now.  I imagine that her response to Mother Giselle's conversation about Dorian's "influence" over her was to dissolve into a fit of uncontrollable giggles, then loudly and egregiously flirt with Dorian whenever Mother Giselle's around for weeks afterwards.

Looked into that strange idol from Dragon Age 2.

It's the central figure of an altar... to the Old God Dumat. The hell is that doing in an ELVEN ruin? 

Here's some stuff from the wiki about the altar

1) You pick up the side quest in.. Corypheus' prison.
2) The altar ITSELF is IN the Grey Warden's Prison Tower? How did anyone decide that having an old god ritual altar in the same place as a Tevinter magister's prison was a GOOD idea? For all we know, he was likely ecstatic to be so nearby.

3) The items required to complete the ritual are: Crown of Dumat, Dumat's Sacrificial Dagger, Dumat's Ritual Scroll, and the Sacred Urn of Dumat. All of these Old God Dumat items... located in the Gray Warden Prison Tower too. 

4) Should you complete the altar's ritual, your journal updates to, "Sacrifices made at the altar of Dumat appear to have pleased the old god. The altar now appears dormant."

5) Your reward for doing the ritual is an accessory called, "Chain of the Penitent"

The important take away here is that this statue is representative of Dumat. It's not Elven. It's certainly not anything from the more modern, angular styles of Tevinter. What is an idol of Dumat doing in an Elven ruin? What purpose would there be to place that there? Why would the elves who built this place put idols to Dumat throughout the most holy, deep, and ancient portion of the tomb?

 

It doesn't line up with what we know of the Dales elves but it seems an awful lot like they were worshipping the old Tevinter gods.

Yeah - at 4:20 - hence the really really subtle.  He also chooses his words carefully and before he's all eloquent as normal.  After that point he talks in fragments for a bit to try make up for it. 

 

You also have to think outside of the game too - the developers can't have some charaters KNOW what's going on and some don't.  The impact in the future DLC and the games is going to be how how the PCs deal with the reveal - not just a romanced Lavellan.  So if your romanced lavellan already knows taht Solas is Fenharel and **** is about to go down - why is she just sitting there? Why isn't she rallying people to get him.  The game would be so different. So they couldn't have it where they just told her.

 

She is smart - but again I've complained about this - when it comes to Solas they made the Lavellan a little starry eyed(guhh...). I know it's nothing you want to hear. This is the SAME reaction everyone had when the podcast came out a few weeks ago.
