The female elf character card mostly imo. Mage just fits the earlier plot well.
Weirdly it's doesn't seem to be something that's happened with other Inquisitors.
That is curious and I've wondered at it, too.
<- Doesn't look anything like Daenerys either
I think it's just the halla stuff.
*sigh of relief* I was beginning to think I was missing out on some huge secret/conspiracy thing by not choosing that look.
The symmetry. hes s Mage. People can easily role play why there would be attraction and a connection between the two. Also elves are stereotypically coded as 'ethereal other' so super white hair which is not typical would fit. That's my take on it. My chick was a brown hair green eyed rogue. I didn't like how the white hair looked in the game and the archer is really fun to play. I already had a human Mage that was with Cullen.
Hmm. I'm sensing some Tolkien-esque influences regarding the "ethereal other" - not to say it's not nice, I like the look quite a bit, it's just I always sort of imagined that the more human characteristics are representative of the plight of elves in modern Thedas, they've lost just that quality that sets elves apart. Plus my tabletop roleplay sense would go for wild elves, sun elves, moon elves, dark elves
and all the variations. I was just curious to see why the mood tends towards this particular elf look. I mean, I always go for complementary as opposed to this kind of symmetry, if we're going for a Solas romance heading in, then I'd choose anything except a mage for a first PT so I can offer a dynamically different perspective.
I guess because Daenerys is a fairly popular character at the moment so people tend to use that look? It's not something I've seen a lot of when it comes to Solavellan, though.
I missed a lot
so I probably didn't see a lot of variety that is, in actuality, out there. It just struck me that I kept seeing this theme.
Isn't it mostly female Trevelyans that look like Daenerys? I haven't seen elves that looked like her. Not here at least. If mine does, it wasn't intentional haha. I don't think she does, though.
I saw the pre-release Daenerys creation and I think it was a Trevelyan look - but I'm seeing it a lot in fan art and described in fanfics.
Who cares? People's characters can look like whatever they want, It's not wrong or bad for them to look similar to something else.
No insult was intended to anyone, I was just curious because I saw a pattern and wondered at it.
Haha, mine is a mage with white/platinum blonde hair so I'll bite...I picked it partly because of the pretty tarot card, and partly because the hair textures aren't the best.... I wasn't going for Daenerys exactly...but the mysterious/mystical waif trope just seemed to fit.
I'm pleased so many people apparently had the same idea, lots of lovely fan art that looks vaguely like my character doesn't hurt! I can't complain. My canon Amell and Hawke both had black hair, and my Shepard had red, so...I was set on blonde.
Good answer - I'm kind of sad for the same reason, though, some of the best I've seen so far has this particular look and I can't fit my Lavellan in there. ![]()
What? You mean the pale skin, silver hair, and pale eyes?
Yeah, that is pretty common. I can't speak for anyone else, but I don't do it to have my characters channel Danaerys. I grew up watching and reading The Last Unicorn, and was enchanted by the Lady Amalthea; a unicorn magically turned into a human woman, who retains her pale white skin, moon-white hair, and lavender eyes.
*snip*
Then a few years I fell in love with an animated movie called The Secret of Kells. More specifically, the character Aisling, a pale, white-haired, green-eyed fairy who lives in the forest, befriends a church boy named Brendon, and who inspires him to write the Book of Kells by showing him the wonders of her forest.
*snip*
Oooh, yes. I grew up on The Last Unicorn, too, and love it to bits - and the same with The Secret of Kells.
I can relate to that.
