I'm not questioning his card game skills, just his ability to keep his tongue in check when he's got some drink in him.  

 

If we were given the chance, I'd love to see more drunk Solas. We saw a bit of it in Halamshiral. It was a joy to see him loosened up a bit.

 

It was just...dude, talk to me like that more often hot damn. Just the way the word "sex" is hissed from his lips just...oh my god. *runs to take cold shower*

 

I'm inclined to agree. Or rather, I just don't know anymore. I certainly think Solas is ruthless enough to kill a friend if it will further his goals... He kills Flemeth/Mythal, after all. (I use the word 'friend' intentionally... When i said 'master' i meant the dude he's working for/the person whose goals he's helping achieve, not as in 'master/slave.') But... Somehow it doesn't quite fit. As someone mentioned, Solas doesnt seem particularly interested in the Eluvians... Though he could just be hiding said interest. Or, that ship had sailed with the whole breach/Cory fiasco. I could really go either way with it. We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.

Though for the sake of picking a side, I'm gonna go with... I think Felassan was working for Dirthamen. Cuz that would complicate matters. And be kind of cool. Aren't the ravens his, after all? He's been watching us the whole time through their eyes. Creepy...

 

I know, I feel like I'm missing something. Like, it makes sense and then it doesn't. 

 

And Felassan "doesn't hear the blow that killed him". With that phrase, I'm inclined to think it wasn't a spell that ended his life. Magic makes a lot of noise.

(Going to indulge in a bit of rather off-topic biology nerdery and character analysis here.  Not trying to knock any opinions, just adding a few extra cents on the animal motifs)

 

Prey animals aren't trembling and fragile; we just think of them that way as a literary thing.  And you don't have to be a predator to be freaking terrifying.  Elephants, gorillas, hippos, elk, and yes, deer can all seriously mess up humans and other animals that threaten them.  Even what we think of as small prey animals (rodents, passerine birds, etc.) will viciously fight among themselves and against other species for resources.  Nature is red in tooth and claw, and so is Dragon Age

To follow up on off-topic nerdery, it is great fun to check out medieval bestiaries. (These were compendiums that worked kind of like reference works. They gave you the natural history of an animal (or rock) and then gave the reader a moralized (i.e. Christian) reading of what that animal represented.

So here's something I've been wondering... We always assume the lover was a man. Could it have been a woman? Like in Tyrdda's legend?

 

Are you talking magic theory Triad?  Totally gender independent: just 2 sources of Will and one Fade.  The big examples just happen to center around Mythal, which sets expectations a bit.

I don't think so. Although its possible he could have been the second one calling for help. Ultimately there's no context for what that was supposed to be, but it seems almost as though they intended to mirror Flemeth's betrayal with a flashback or an echo of Mythal's. 

 

It always surprised me that he uses the saying "fenhedis", even if that dialogue calling for help wasn't meant to be from him.  Normally in the DA world, all of the swear words are usually the "inappropriate" areas of some deity- ex: "Maker's balls" / "Andraste's flaming ass" / etc.  So I always assumed fenhedis (which someone translated out to mean wolf dick?) was an inappropriate reference to Fen'Harel.  So I mean, seeing as he IS Fen'Harel... Like the only time I would think this swear would be appropriate would be like if he was about to go and give some big public speech in front of all the pantheon and his pants decided to give a premature standing ovation, and just "FENHEDIS NOW IS NOT THE TIME".  He says it in a banter with Sera, but I guess Sera just has that effect on people.

I think his mystery is what gets to most of us. He obviously loves the Quizzy but here's so much unknown that we NEED to know, for good or bad. And Halamshiral was just a tiny glimpse of the whole Solas leaving us reeling from the incredible depth of character we haven't seen yet. So frustrating and unfulfilling.

Heh, I decided to make my second video using an Evanescence song for Solas (Lacrymosa).  Sometimes I feel like I can't find the right song and I'll search through YouTube for ideas, and occassionally I'll feel like I have to make a video with a particular song.  Most recently I felt compelled to make a video for Cullen's romance with this song.  What has DA: I done to me O.o;  :

Solas was where Varric was when the explosion happened, according to a trailer. In some tavern nearby.

 

One of my biggest questions when it comes to Solas is how much he was aware the opening of the orb would be catastrophic. Did he know that Corypheus would use such an important blood sacrifice and didn't care? Would the orb have caused so much destruction if the Inquisitor hadn't intervened and ripped some of the power from it? Did he know that it would cause such a mess but under normal circumstances it would have been more contained or stoppable? He definitely didn't seem happy with all the chaos Corypheus wrought with it.

 

These are the kinds of things I hope we learn in DLC. If not Solas' plans, which I doubt will be completely revealed, at least an idea of when exactly Solas "woke up" and the details behind how Corypheus ended up with the orb. Solas isn't an idiot so he must have had a plan in mind that at least made some sense, right?

There's a reason why dom!Solas (and by extension, dom!Fen'Harel) has become my new Dragon Age guilty pleasure.  In-character?  Not necessarily, but I don't care.  It's devastatingly hot.  I was so scared but so turned on by his anger during his personal quest.  Which is 100% f***ed up 

 

It does make me wonder what my Lavellan would think of him if she could see everything about him.  The rebel god, the gentle teacher, the wolf alone and without a pack.  It's hard not to fear someone like that, with so much power and duality and so many layers to him.  But I'd like to think that she could eventually work through that and still love him knowing everything he is and was.

I am reasonably certain what he expected was for Cory to hack the orb, and for it to destroy him. But only him. I believe the explosion and the hole in the sky was probably more our fault for crashing the Sacrifice-the-Divine party.

Depends on what kind of dom you're thinking! He may not be dom in every sense of the word - he probably, like we've said, knows exactly what he wants in the bedroom, and is very self-assured. Silk ties and the such may not come into play, but holding down her hands? Pressing her against the wall...directing the moment itself with gentle but firm touches and...

I'll admit, dom!Solas is my guilty pleasure as well. I know it's not for everyone and it may seem OOC, but I find it so irresistably hot.

And I'd like to think my Lavellan would accept everything about him as well. That is, after she gets over the whole "I am Fen'Harel the Dread Wolf, who gave my orb to Coryphenus and may have started this whole Breach mess" bit.
