If you reconcile them, then they both accept/forgive each other (or at least are willing to work together) and become a bit less ruthless, so it works out pretty well  :)

They're both as bad as each other, but to be honest, I'm fine sticking them in an somewhat slightly abusive relationship because Briala annoyed me with how she was so condescending to the Dalish Inquisitor and acted like they weren't doing anything for the Elves... when she herself only really gained power and prominence because she was sleeping with someone powerful.

She's like the Elven version of Vivienne.

That PS4 result, yeah? That's me. (At least considering how often I started over after the intro cutscenes.)

Did you say this to me? I use PC :)

I found an interesting norse mythology tidbit that ties into the "June - dwarf" theory today. Dwarves in norse mythology does not procreate the normal way, they make themselves via smithing. June is suppose to have created himself and is the god of craft.

And some legends say the were co-creators of the human race. 4 dwarves holds the world up - titans. Just going to leave that here.

Totally not related but funny in a "yuck" way, they are said to originate as maggots in Yme's corpse and dvergamål (laguange of the dwarves) is the echo we hear (still not related to anything).

Yeah.

I'm completely on board with the "Pillars of the Earth" in the codex being literal titans, a super immune system boost crafted by June in an attempt to hold back the blight.  Likely much larger than golems, if we assume the height of the Deep Road passages was a necessity rather than the Dwarves building on an imposing scale for no apparent reason.  Begs the question of exactly who was hunting them in the codex, though.  An ally of Elgar'nan's faction, sure, but more than that...?  *baffled shrug*

As this is the Solas thread should we make a group to post the semi academic and the worst of the tin foil theory that ties in to it? A lot of the stuff we do theorize about may or may not stem from a want to understand Solas but we might bug people if it ends up completely off topic? I'm happy to stay here and equally happy to create a theory group if that would be more considerate to people who don't want to read wall of texts with crazy and/or academical theory.

I hope you stay here. I think part of the charm of the thread is the crazy theories and I don't always have enough time to go to separate areas.

Whatever is best for the thread of course but that's my vote. I think most anything that is indirectly dragon agy is on topic.

They all annoyed me, so I forced the three of them together on my most recent PT.  Meh, screw Orlais.

Yet Another Theory on DWARVES and THE STONE

-snip awesomeness-

That's some creative thinking! I love it! It sounds rather plausible, especially because of what Danga says

The only thing - isn't June a male?

Once it's done, I'll be sure to PM a link to you since this thread moves so fast :)

Please do, I'm at work and may not be able to see it until I leave, so I'd hate to miss it.

Yeah... I suppose that is for the best. Rights for elves sound cool but I guess it's better to play the long-con.

edit: Just wiki'd. Briala becomes Marquise if with Celene. ok.

Yet Another Theory on DWARVES and THE STONE

How can the Stone simultaneously everywhere and in one place? There is a core. Think AI core. Think cybernetics.

We have speculated that 'The Stone' was crafted by June. Move away from the traditional, medieval idea of crafting from metals. June was interested in the ideas her Pantheon brethren were interested in - manipulation of spirits, godhood, and the ultimate goal of true immortality. But she took a different path than Ghilan'nain's trapping of spirits from the fade. June set out to see if she could artificially create life. Actual lives, who would devotedly worship her for eternity.

<snip>

This theory gives more weight to existing debates within Thedas. We may agree with Solas' unfavorable opinions on the Qun - a way of life for those who, for whatever reason, choose to give up their individuality for the greater good. Yet what of those whose 'collectiveness' cannot possibly be a choice? That for dwarves, it may be a part of their very existence? Are we still to tell them that the way they live is not the correct way?

Aaand that's all I have for now. Disclaimer: not expert in any of these things, just a fan.

*lies down on the floor and laughs*

<3

This is all amazing.   I'm on board- but with a biological rather than cybernetic slant.  I think the truth is likely somewhere in between: innate biology augmented and writ large by June's craft.  The dwarves-as-immune system thing has been beaten into the ground, so I won't dig it back up here, but there's no doubt in my mind that Stone Sense is tapping into a larger neural network connected and created by veins of lyrium.   The twist being that they're simultaneously deconstructing their connection to the larger entity and attempting to recreate its central purpose in their society in the creation of the Shaperate.  Tragic, really.  I'm surprised Solas' banter with Verric isn't more pointed than it is.

When Dagna taps in and talks about how dizzy she gets, it's literally the feeling of the planet spinning through space.  Of course, whether you want to get on the express train to Crazytown with Thedas being Mythal/Elgar'nan's literal Child (bonus - the fade is her Soul!) is another thing entirely.

Are we at that stage already? Did I miss the smut?

In any case, re: June being male...

It could be that the sex of certain gods was more ambiguous? In some myths entities are not given a sex, but had qualities of both men and women.

Or could be, and I didn't watch the video because I'm at work, but hell, they could always have a male essence reborn into a female.

I'm torn on this front between not wanting to miss anything (we all know how blasted fast this thread moves) and the nagging feeling that we'd lose an important part of the balance here by carving out all the theory bits.  I need my down time, no-theory fluff and kittens as much as the next MechaMordin component.

Being able to tag and filter posts would be an elegant solution, but I don't see Bioware hopping to it just to make our lives easier.  =w=

Wouldn't a group exist with the trhread itself - so it can basically be used as some kind of "index", etc?
(I actually don't know how groups work so the one above is more of a question than a suggestion)

Yes. Body-hopping souls means gender can go either way. Let's go with that. Thanks Ave

Aww madrar! <3 I love your creation theory and one of these days I am going to get around to replying to it in full!

Honestly, I slept on dwarf-related thoughts and the Cybernetic Theory is how it all accumulated in my head when I woke x.x unlike Solas, I obviously need my wake-up cup of tea!!

More passive without the existence of aggression. What is objection about my comment about agreeing with you? If you keep them all alive, it's possible to see them all in DA4. The epilogue says that making the three make-up kiss wasn't genuine so the truce was only temperary. But they said the same about the other options. Briala could give rights to the elves but that doesn't mean it's going to be enforced across the land. You can't change people with a new set of rules when the people of Orlais don't seem ready. It's a gradual thing to change culture.

edit: Whatever choice you make, it's to end the civil war temporarily. The fate of Orlais would be vague at most in future games.

I'm not entirely sure how groups work either, honestly, though I'd assume they're more like a conglomeration of similar threads than a tool that would allow us to flag individual thread posts.  Is anyone here more familiar with them?

I suppose we could take a stab at making a "Mordin" group, if theory-crafters don't mind posting in two spots...  Or maybe someone's willing to pull all this stuff out and reformat it as we go into something like a theory-wiki?

A big ask either way, I suppose.  It just feels like Team Mordin is really getting somewhere with our overall understanding of the DA universe, and hate the thought of key insights being swept away and lost in the massive floodwaters of this thread.  @w@

I think having a specific place for all information is a great idea because the wiki is terrible sometimes. I think we should certainly find a place that we can create our own "wiki-like" area where we can group topics together and list theories. I'm not sure if a group is the best place for that or on some kind of website. I'm just afraid if a group is created all of the theory minded folks will abandon ship and the thread will lose it's charm.

What exactly do you wish to do? Just isolate theory chat or keep track of theories, cross-referencing them?
