I can't help but like the hair. It seems to fit well with his character. That is- to have had both of the styles. Solas definitely seems like someone who would have had a 'meaningful haircut' moment. It is a nice marker to differentiate Solas from Fen'Harel rather than just have one a wolf.
If they released a hair mod, I'd probably use it for a play-through just for fun. But I wouldn't consider it canon.
My Mahariel too!I ship them more than I shipped her with my Amell.I tend to think of her letting out a huge sigh of relief once she puts that old outfit on. I imagine that she'd not been able to wear it the entire time she was at court and the tight corsets and hoop skirts must have bothered her to no end with their confinement. Also I'm sure she's quite pleased that it still fits after so many years, and especially since having a baby!

I have mixed feelings...I think the bald head fits his character better at this stage.He's "powerless" but wiser,most of the times hair is associated with power or physical strength,so Fen'harel without hair is the perfect symbolism for what he represents.I can't help but like the hair. Solas with hair is just... nope. Not seen a single "improvement" that actually improves on him. I think the designers got him just right.

I don't see Morrigan as being significantly hampered by uncomfortable clothing. What I do see is her angrily yelling about the impositions of society that say what she should wear. She'd probably agree that the corset is slimming but that she's angry that fashion dictated that she should wear it and not her own choice.
Morrigan will always be a delight of complex and cathartic negativity for me.
For my Mahariel DA:O was basically a downward spiral of alienation and tragedy all the way to the end of DAII leading to her developing chronic depression. Morrigan and her sass was a beacon for that poor elf's growing disappointment with the world. If she runs into Morrigan again I imagine my Mahariel having to have to deal with disappointment again along the lines of "Oh, you're happy now? And your son is kind of great. I guess I'll just... yeah." Imaren Mahariel doesn't get to have a happy life.
As I said, that render with Solas is pretty hot, and I like imagining that's how he looked when young. I wouldn't use a mod that made him look like that though. I agree that they got Solas exactly right. Same with all the other characters. Funny thing is, for DAO and DA2, mods that changed the character faces were one of the first things I downloaded (until I started making my own). Not that they were terrible or anything, but they tended to be rather cartoonish and I got tired of looking at them. With Inquisition, though, they nailed it. Every character looks absolutely perfect, in my opinion. I love Solas' design. And I love how the lack of hair emphasizes his profile and bone structure. He's not conventionally handsome, but his face is incredibly striking. And I love that he looks a bit aged. I wouldn't change a thing.

This is my canon young Solas. I just love the hair style. The hair in the front makes him look extra playful. Also, remember that he is a redhead.

I can relate to that actually.I gave Alistair Kailan's hairstyle before completing the game,because his original one was too modern for my taste.Surprise,surprise I ended up spoiling myself about their relation because they looked like identical twins.Fun times!I understand what you are saying. I do feel that the art department/ character designers were correct in giving him a bald head as it denotes both age and intelligence. It was definitely a great call. I love how that maturity plays against his occasionally boyish profile and laugh.
That said, I am totally that girl who made Zevran have short dark hair because it suited my mental image of him. With Solas and the dread locks, it's a bit more complicated a call for me. I love them, they're beautiful, powerful, and a smart play on words his sense of humor is wry enough to appreciate.
But my questions are these - would that very word play be what frightened him away from using it? Is the jaw bone charm the one thing he allowed himself?
I once entertained the thought of him having the dreads in an attempt to fit into the Dalish or ignorant people's assumptions of the Dalish, but his lack of vallaslin would give him away instantaneously.
I will definitely give the dreads a go one they are successfully modded in, but if they clash too much with how I envision him (like Zevran's blonde locks clashed with how I saw him) then they'll go.

This is one of the best renditions of Solas-with-hair I've seen so far! Of course, I prefer the bald Solas we got in-game but I wouldn't mind seeing a young Solas (maybe in flashbacks) who looked like this.
Playing DAI as a male Lavellan, and it's very strange hanging around Solas without romancing him. As a female Lavellan, he starts off very polite and friendly but detached, and becomes warmer, more trusting, and more passionate as you get to know him. As a male Lavellan, he starts off polite and friendly but detached... and kind of remains that way.

That is a good point, ne? It might be another point for headcanon. There was a tweet not long ago from Mr. Weekes where he mentioned that Solas might either be naturally bald, or ask it politely not to grow (magically, of course, haha).
