I won't lie, in-game topless Solas does sound quite appealing.

Oh I know it I have had a few of them,but lately tumblr is really starting to turn me off I don't get how some people think of Solas Fans as being sexually repressed O.o I think I'll probably just switch to word press or something to post my stuff on I dunno though

You guys make me feel better, thank you :3 I never interacted with the DA fandom on tumblr (just TMNT and some Mass Effect) so I was like "whaaaat????" when I was told to shut up about how Solas looks at Lavellan.

I have to say I really, really love Solas' profile. Like he's not classically handsome, but he's really attractive. It's kind of weird lol and hard to describe :3

I agree! I think Solas has a rather handsome profile, to be honest. Yeah, not your typical handsome but there is something attractive about him. A type of strange, ageless handsomeness to him.

Honestly, I don't know, I just really like him. xD

Really, there are many aspects of Solas that could make him very unlikable to the right eyes. If you didn't gain his favor in your first playthrough, I can imagine not being fond of him at all. Even if you did, he's heavily flawed, says some unfortunate things and can have quite the unpleasant attitude sometimes.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful. Reading constant bashing of your favorite character can get real tiring, real quick. I can imagine that's how Sera fans feel and I know that's how Anders fans feel. Not fun. I can only hope that's not the position Solas fans end up in after Solas does whatever he plans to do in a future game.

 

Well, of the 4 other people I know in real life who played/are in the process of playing DA:I, only one other person loves Solas (was very sad she couldn't romance him as a male qunari) - the other three can't stand him.

I believe I saw a post like that in the Tumblr tag not long ago. Someone basically mocked fans appreciating how Solas looks at Lavellan, using increasingly ludicrous examples. But it's hard to get irritated by it again with such a lovely screenshot to look upon. This thread really is balm for the fandom-weary fan, I'll say that.

EDIT: And I can tell you why you like his profile. Its actually... rather boyish. There's a youth to his profile that's utterly charming.

They must be so incredibly bitter to jump on that. Here's a story, a work colleague of mine who is an older lady and very very into fantasy and I, got talking about DA:I, she knew all about my obssession, she knows I'm a gamer and that I took a week off in Nov especially to play DA:I and do nothing else.  Anyway, we got talking about the actual game and I got into Solas and the romance and she sounded very interested so I wrote down his name for her and told her to check it out on YT when she had a chance. 

Anyway, long story short, last week, after she'd had time to sit down and watch the romance on YT the first thing she said to me when I saw her was "I did look!  Oh, I can see why you like him...his voice and his EYES! So expressive!".  This from a woman much older than myself (and I'm pretty old), who has never touched a game in her life, she's just super into fantasy and she does like elves. The first thing she mentions is his face/eyes and how much emotion they convey, so you know what? Arse to those people on tumblr, this woman was blown away by the depth and emotion in there... you're right to go on about the way he looks at her!

That doesn't even make sense. If we were sexually repressed, then our sexual desires would come out in ways other than explicit fanart and fanfic. We would be... I don't know... having psychosomatic symptoms instead like women in Victorian times.

oh yeah. it's soooo easy to accidentally make eye colors and makeup too bright/intense in this game. I wonder why they chose that dark lighting for the character creator.

That's a strange attitude because I don't think Solas fans are different than the fans of every other male character when it comes to the sexually-charged art and fic and posts.

 

Is it because Solas doesn't have a sex scene/can be seen as asexual so people are upset by fans that lust after him? Is it because so and so person thinks he's ugly or dislikes the character and, as happens a lot, can't stand how popular he is? Those are the only things I can think of but hey, that's bound to happen to every character eventually. It's amazing how many people are downright nasty about Cullen or Alistair or any of the super popular LIs.
