Alright guys - so if Lavellan was a fermented fruit juice.. what fruit would that be?

 

We were talking in the drawing chat about it potentially being a type of berry because the Dalish are nomads. But the Free Marches are like the breadbasket of Thedas so perhaps there are like orchards and stuff? I NEED YOUR VOTE.

 

"Breadbasket of Thedas" implies that they grow a lot of grain. Bread is made from various types of grains - wheat, barley, oats, etc. It was also a staple for most common folk until... modern era. 

 

As for your question... EDIT: It's a good one, and hard to answer. I originally thought berries too, since berry bushes often grow in the forest and I imagine the Dalish often gathered it. It's light, sweet, and a little tangy. For Revera though, I imagine some sort of citrus fruit. Something light and tangy, but which thrives in winter. Probably lemon. Mint julep! I'll be over there.

Regarding ages: Sitting here at 30 somethin, I'm sure my parents, my sister, and all the kids from HS who gave me grief about it would have figured I'd be out of this gamer phase by now, especially when it came to obsessing over the characters in them. Joke's on them. I'm a terrible excuse for a grown up.

 

And now most of them play video games too.

 

As for draw chat. Sorely tempted, but it would require digging out my itty bitty bamboo tablet and hoping it works still. I lost the will to draw over a year ago when I was bogged down with requests for character portraits. I got super burned out and then just plain stopped feeling like drawing anything. And every time I go back to dA I get weirdly discouraged. It's petty, I know, but I see all the fanarts of who I want to draw, and they are crazy amazing and I say to myself, why bother? They've got it covered. 

 

Now my dA has been untouched since June of last year. Sad, no? The last time I felt decent about what little talent I have, I was drawing a lot of Loki. Solas is getting to the point where he's that same sort of muse to me, but I just dunno if I can be arsed. Blat.

Since we're all sharing ages, 31 here. LOL. Also, people keep mentioning their husbands, and I'm just sitting here in forever alone land. T_T Seriously, though, I love the fact that the ages in this fandom are so varied.

 

I wanna join the draw chat, but I am still learning how to do digital art without it looking terrible. I got out of drawing for a while (I used to do it all the time when I was younger), but I recently got a Wacom tablet and am very, very bad at it still. I need to practice. ^^; How often do you guys plan to do the draw chats?

In my personal headcanon nothing ever happened besides what we see in-game... somehow it seems more tragic, I guess, for it to have been this intense emotional meeting-of-minds kind of connection that never had a chance to become anything more. *sniff*

I like it that way too. :)

 

I got a total "this is the night" anticipation vibe from the last romance scene. Maybe that's just me. Lavellan seems kind of nervous. It's not how I'd picture them if they'd been sleeping together for a while. On the other hand Lavellan claimed Solas quite forcefully in the fade. So it's not like either of them is particularly shy. This romance is a nice departure from Bioware's usual predilection for virginal awkward romances. Solas is confident guy as one would expect from a rebel god.

How anybody got the idea Solas is asexual is beyond me. But everyone is free to roleplay the romance as they please, of course.

 

 

Sidenote about Solas with hair: not my thing at all. Especially the most recent one posted here everyone loved. I find it quite repulsive even. The one of young Solas with dreadlocks is ok.

Also... I find his eyes ugly. :huh: They are so squinty...

Everybody is drawing Solas with abs and I'm just sitting here asking "When does he have time to to exercise except out in the fields?" All he does is read, sleep, and paint a freaking fresco. If you didn't know, frescos are attentive hard and time-consuming.

 

Yoga can do that.  Here's a pic of Rodney Yee, for example.  And FYI, Mr. Yee's yoga videos are awesome!

You know, this is the first time I don't feel "old" on a gaming thread. Or the internet in general. I remember my short-lived involvement with the House M.D. fan community that seemed to consist of teenage girls age 12-17. It was mildly disturbing seeing them all crush on Hugh Laurie. *g*

 

I'm 30 for another few months. Still in denial...

Yeah, being from pretty much the first generation of kids who had video games, I think that, because it was kids who took to them first, there was an idea that they were similar to other kids 'toys' which we'd move on from... but they were all soooo wrong, games are a breakthrough akin to TV.

Feh, 34 and neither have I.  Not a morality thing, just couldn't shake stupid cog sci perspective during formative years.  =w=  Clinical understanding of effect + exposure to people with Korsakoff's kind of puts a damper on the "fun" part.
