Yeah, for me part of it is because I struggled with appearance related issues growing up so I just don't want to be reminded of impossible standards. I know it's just fiction, but I don't like feeling like you have to be some perfect goddess with perfect skin for Solas to want you.
It's a common struggle I think many of us have, male and female. That's the thing with fanfiction, it can be a bit of fantasy fulfilment.

Btw, have you guys seen the mods for a 'smoother' Solas? Not really sure what to think of mods like these...I hardly ever like totally clean characters. Freckles, scars, wrinkles and little dents are what makes characters so beautiful! Especially now that we have the technology to make use of those defining features!

But the real question is: Could he even be more suave than he already is? 
So Solas was the one to look after Quizzy for 3 days after she fell out of the rift at the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Well one would assume that Quizzy might need some uh personal care during that time. Which makes the romance a bit creepy. Ugh why did I think of that.
I'd like to think it would be no different than a hospice situation. Perhaps the elven girl we first see after Quizzy wakes up helped in caring for a female's uh.. cleanliness needs? An unconscious person doesn't pose too much of a danger, after all, (unless it's my husband, who will go from deep sleep to a standing-combat position, in a matter of SECONDS.... 
)

I know, I struggle with it too. I'm trying to avoid the "unbelievably beautiful, incredibly powerful, irresistible honey dewed nymphs with the jewelled eyes and silken voices" for the fics I'm writing. Which may mean that they'll take a nose dive and nobody will want to read them. Doesn't matter. I like the thought of a Herald who was branded by the mark but has very little going for them in terms of beauty and skill. Most of the people in Thedas probably have little combat or leadership skills.
Honestly, I'd much prefer to read fic like that than what you described above it. Then maybe I could enjoy the Lavellan as well as Solas! Usually I try to ignore the Lavellan in fic as much as I can because I read fic for Solas, not for someone else's character.

I find it much easier to stay immerse as long as the story doesn't have too many descriptions about the color of Lavellan's eyes or hair or skin and things like that.

Not sure how that would be particularly creepy? Solas is several thousand years old. I'm not even thirty and I've already gotten to the point that I've seen so many gross personal things that nothing surprises me anymore. When you're taking care of someone who is sick, there's nothing sexual about it.

Eh, I can kind of understand why. They're not that bad together as long as they're not talking about Tevinter vs elves subjects, which is a sore spot for Solas. They talk shop about magic well.
I tend to backspace out of fics with certain personality types, Merrills are just not for me, I can be picky about the romance part too. I'm easy about looks though.

I dont think him giving her care is creepy in of itself. Ive worked in a dementia unit for 10 yrs so im with you on the gross part. Its more of his falling for Lavellan after wiping her bottom for a few days.
It occurs to me: How has no one done a piece of Solas fanart of him painting those frescoes? It seems like such prime material.
Edit: Actually hang on, there's potential for some fluff there. A fresco has to be painted on wet plaster or the paint chips off really quickly. Please, try not to imagine the heartwarming scene of Solas an Lavellan painting a coat of wet plaster on the rotunda. Do not imagine when they start getting into a paint fight.
I just figured out that at one part where you ask solas about the orb at one point that he says this sentence:
'' Nothing in any lore connects my people to the old god dragons who became archdemons ''
..... ...... ........ * the after feeling reading this sentence. * -.- how could I not figure out that something was odd at this point..
he never even calls elves his people so.. yeah.. straight sentence XD

I just recently turned 27, and the closest I've gotten to drunk was super tipsy. I wanted to get drunk off my butt on my 21st birthday, just to know what it's like and let myself know why it would be a horrible idea, but what actually happened was...
I had one mixed drink, tripped on something on my way to the kitchen to make another, and broke my toe. I figured if I was clumsy enough to break my dang toe while still sober, it'd probably be best not to get drunk. Ever.
