I like to imagine that a few years later Solas is exploring the Fade when he runs into his Lavellan. She doesnt see him so he hangs back a moment. He watches her longing to talk to her when he sees a boy of about 8 asking about his father.....

So I just made a new, amply mustached Inquisitor, and noticed something. When they get to the ruins of the Temple of Sacred Ashes, there's this exchange. (Apologies if the dialogue isn't a hundred percent accurate.)
VARRIC: You see that, Seeker? Red lyrium.
CASSANDRA: I see it, Varric.
VARRIC: What's it doing here?
SOLAS: The Breach could have drawn on the lyrium below, corrupting it.
Should I take this as confirmation that Solas has dealt with red lyrium in the past? ![]()

There have been a few fanarts of Solas painting. If there were more, I'd love to see them.
I wonder how Solas would paint the Inquisitor?
Also, I love that Solas's location in Skyhold is literally right under Leliana's nose. It's no wonder he wasn't high on her list of people to check out - any time she wondered what he was up to, she could just lean over the railing. Talk about hiding in plain sight.

It occurs to me: How has no one done a piece of Solas fanart of him painting those frescoes? It seems like such prime material.
Edit: Actually hang on, there's potential for some fluff there. A fresco has to be painted on wet plaster or the paint chips off really quickly. Please, try not to imagine the heartwarming scene of Solas an Lavellan painting a coat of wet plaster on the rotunda. Do not imagine when they start getting into a paint fight.
I did one..

So I have a confession.
A weird one..and I feel like you guys are the only ones non-judgemental enough to share it with. Lol.
I have this app on my phone called Relax Meditation or something. Basically it has all these ambient sounds you can play to help you sleep.
Its got everything from campfire to cat purring to oscillating fan.
The best part is you can mix them, so say you can put forest sounds with a lake sound or something. Create little scenes. And you can save your favorites, and name them.
So the other night I put waves, thunderstorm, rain on tent, nighttime, and campfire and saved it as a favorite. I named it Storm Coast. So when I fall asleep it's like I'm in my tent at camp on the storm coast.
I know, weird.
But it gets weirder because I basically did one for every location. Lol. And even one for skyhold where it's got people talking real low in the background and a fire, like you're in your chambers.
I regret nothing.
Regret nothing! That sounds awesome! I should..probably...find that app. XD

The Solas knowing about all the lyrium in the Temple of Sacred Ashes also goes with the idea of Andraste=Mythal's Vessel, and Mythal commanding Havard to drop it off in one of the old Elvhen mountain temples, much like Skyhold. Hence the Mythal murals, hence the abundance of lyrium, hence Corypheus doing his ritual in an old elven sacred place...
And the red lyrium of course ties into all the wonderful theories about Andruil's...medical issues.

... Didn't Andruil and Mythal have their big bad show down in/ on a mountain?
They did.
In the form of a giant serpent.
Which is probably distinct from the 'divine' form of the dragon, but still.

Random question. Why do we get to have all kinds of eye colors, but we can't have pink or purple hair?
on topic: Solas is hot.
Why is it that there is magic for sex changes but we can't have blue or green hair? *baffled*

It's relaxing to imagine yourself at camp in the Graves. Fire roaring, wind through the trees...they even have a wolf howl, though I find it a little overbearing if too loud.

It's interesting Mythal chose the form of a serpent to battle a blight-infested Andruil rather than a dragon. Isn't it stated that dragons have a higher resistance to the blight?
Snakes (most reptiles) have a temperature dependent immune response, so theoretically a serpent would be at a disadvantage fighting an infected xyz at the top of a high mountain because of the cold.
I'm probably just reading too much into it. Because that's what I do.

Spoiler
Are you an ancient Elvhen God about to make a universe altering decision you might regret in two or three millenia? Have you recently murdered a good friend of your’s in an attempt to further said potentially terrible decision? Did you in the past month commit to being forever alone after one of the hottest make out scenes in video game history?
STOP NOW. Seriously, stop the eff now, and try a sip of Lavellan fermented fruit juice. You’ll be ready to hop on a boat to the nearest secluded island for eternity. We guarantee it.
Find this on my tumblr here.
I guess now would be the time to point out Barbour's Dalish Quilted Jacket.

In Greek and Latin Dragon was referred to any large serpent, not even necessarily mythological.
We see this mostly in eastern myths but still.
Could be something similar going on here.

Ooh that's a good point. I always assumed they stay warm because they can do fire-stuff.
EDIT: And I did not know that the word dragon actually meant something. I like learning, it makes me warm & fuzzy inside.

I always just think of how myths change over cultures and that's how I relate my (paltry) mythological knowledge to dragon age.
The Chinese, for instance, still use a relatively serpent shape in their dragon imagery. The western Europeans may not have used the same shape over time and so may not have considered their dragons very serpent like at all. But they all have a rooted history somewhere.
Anywah, melting pot of ideas I guess.
Or could be something completely different hahah

This is directly from a wiki, only because it sums it up better than I can.
The word dragon entered the English language in the early 13th century from Old French dragon, which in turn comes from Latin draconem (nominative draco) meaning "huge serpent, dragon," from the Greek word δράκων, drakon (genitive drakontos, δράκοντος) "serpent, giant seafish". The Greek and Latin term referred to any great serpent, not necessarily mythological, and this usage was also current in English up to the 18th century.

Why is it that bear and druffalo fights are more exasperating than the end fight with Corypheus?
You'd think he'd be a little tougher to beat than wildlife!
