oh my ... Remember the little post i made with the drawing on my calendar? Well ... I continued it and I remember the time we took up that solas had a kitten in his pants, hence the huge bump

I kinda drew a kitten down there.

/snip

Shhhaarrreee???

Same here! This thread is amazing <3

I feel kind of like an ass though, because I asked yesterday on twitter about Solas, but I didn't see their previous tweet about their family emergency. Ugh, I feel like a grade-A jerk. I deleted the tweet though and I'm super happy that the Solas thread sent out well wishes for all of us <3 I hope everything turns out okay for them and their family, and sending many good vibes to them. I lost my aunt last week so I know that feel all too well, unfortunately.

Auuugghh! I feel yah. I've goofed pretty badly recently. (nothing Bioware related, but goofed in general)
/pats
Edit: And here I am goofing yet again like, how could I simply glaze over the fact you've lost your aunt recently? I am really sorry, even if I might not know you and you might not know me. I guess.... you can take my condolences for what it's worth I ergh... that wasn't a good move on my part... ... ...

Just in case anyone in here isn't able to watch LadyInsanity's video, this is what David Gaider said about hedge magic and mages (I left out a few words, uhs, ums and the like but it's accurate otherwise :) )

Gaider: Hedge mages don't have a specific magic, it's magic that hasn't been developed.  It's like a river that gets dammed and thus the power sort of seeks alternate means of expression.  So the hedge magic can cover a wide variety but what you end up with is somebody who's not actually doing spells, their natural magic talent is expressing itself in ways that normal mages consider to be 'well you've basically ruined your talent' because once it does that there's no way to go back.  A hedge mage cannot turn around later and learn how to do proper spells.

Edit: Sorry if someone already did this, I've had a little trouble keeping up today :pinched:

I should've said in the first place: the meerkat pictures should also be reposted.  Because they're awesome too.

This entire thread is awesome.

I keep looking at the other character threads to see your lovely photoshops  :D

Sometimes I wonder what the people who pop in here from other threads think of our ultra-hippy madness....

This makes me even more super excited to see Solas in-game, partly because it's Solas and partly because DAT COMBAT, but I think we can be pretty sure that Vivienne is going to be ruthless with him on this subject.

Interesting. I'm curious as to what Solas's fighting style will entail now.

So while Karm got dibs on that particular masterpiece, I decided that the Meerquisition needed to be a thing.  Unfortunately the only other suitable photo I could find had only 9, so mine only has the companions...

I don't know why but Solas' face in that picture is making me giggle so hard.

I too wonder what that means for Solas and his so called 'improper' spells. And if they're improper due to conventional standards alone. (He is the Rift mage right? That kind of gives us a clue as to what he's up to) I was about to go into a thing about 'doesn't that make Morrigan a hedge mage as well?' But I guess the wikipedia entry states that 'witch of the wilds' are in their own subsection of apostates.

Different doesn't necessarily mean bad, and he could be paving the way for a new sort of magic... and if he's actually the death card instead of the hermit... great change... ... ... the 'big bad'... ... hmmmmmmmmmm... much to ponder.

Dear Solas thread as a gentleman who inevitably will share a haircut with our lovely dreamer , i ask you do people still have issue with him being bold and think is unattractive ?
Ps: any of my past boyfriends never did mind me shaving my head, as part of adjusting to the inevitable future  :P

Interesting. I'm curious as to what Solas's fighting style will entail now.

[PW]: On the battlefield, Solas’s expertise with the Fade lets him manipulate magic in ways that would never occur to most mages.

The hedge mage thing combined with this line from his interview really do make me wonder if he'll be different from the other mages.  I would assume somehow he'll have access to regular spells since they've implied that all mages have access to healing and such, and I don't know if they'd essentially create an entirely new class just for Solas (but he's amazing so he'd deserve it :P).

I know all mages manipulate magic in some way, but I wonder if the magic from Solas' specialization will work differently from normal spells.  Will there be more "channeled" talents rather than precise spells?  Will he manipulate his surroundings or even open up his own sort of rifts in a Bioshock Infinite sort of way?  Maybe we haven't/won't see Solas in combat demos because some of his magic is special, new, or semi-spoilery so they want to keep it under wraps.  Perhaps he summons spirits with their own abilities/magical effects instead of casting the spells directly.  Who knows :P

I think a lot of us love the bald look at this point.  If the game artists came in and said "Ispan, we will give him any hairstyle you choose, just say the word" I'd ask them to leave him bald.  He's hot the way he is :)

In a general sense, I don't think the majority of us take any issue with his lack of hair whatsoever; hell, to many it's pretty damn attractive. However, there are (as there will always be) people who find it unattractive, but still became highly interested in him due to his perceived personality.

I don't think bald = unattractive; some people rock it, some don't. Pretty much goes for any haircut. Let people look how they want to look is my motto. Pretty people come in all genders, shapes and sizes.

For the record I never had a problem with Solas' baldness, I think it looks good on him.

I must say that he didn't catch my attention at the beginning, (well, he certainly did but a I was more attracted to other companions)  but after reading his character interview I was so fascinated that I overcame whatever "issue" I had with his aspect. Characters gradually grow on you and that's exactly what Solas did on me. I'm sure his story will be very interesting and have lot to offer.

Plus, I remembered having loved another bald elf before

Spoiler

So, I came back to this thread and...Um WUT?

Just as some of you are doing, I'm wondering how Solas will work on the battlefield but I'm also wondering HOW he became a Hedge Mage. He was never a part of the circle but..there was no one there to teach him "proper" magic? Was he adopted? Abandoned, maybe, and just tried to make the best out of his powers?

The man grows more intriguing as the days roll on..

I was initially turned away from it at first, but then it grew on me somehow and by the end I didn't mind it at all and still found him very attractive. It's part of why he's Solas! And once we got info on his character, oh man I was beyond sold.
