If all bald elves are Solas, is this also Solas?

So if a city elves shaves their head... they become Solas?

Does that mean... keeper Zathrian is Solas? That bastard kind of deserved to die though... I'm glad I didn't have to lift a murder knife to assist him on offing himself. That curse was awful.

I will admit, I didn't like him at first. But,after talking to him in Skyhold and doing his personal quest, Solas has grown on me. Still no hope for Vivienne though.

Viv makes great points, and I love her character, but it's her condescending attitude that makes me narrow my eyes. I went to the "rich" schools, so I've had enough of that B.S. XD

Terrwyn is actually getting along with her in this PT...so far.

Hi everyone!

Long time lurker here!

But I got a funny occasion to introduce myself so here it is. I was about to do some screenies of our lovely bald elf when this WTF moment happened and I couldn't help but to share it with you guys (Thanks for the courage impulse Ajna :P ). So here it is:

https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be (sorry still trying to figure out how to put the video directly in the post).

Oh and by the way, I wouldn't have been able to make it without guys when the "feels" happened to me back in early December. So thank you so much. Best thread eva! I love you all!  <3  <3  <3  <3

EDIT: This video is about a new version of "Dancing with wolves" I'd say XD

Hello! Should I say "welcome"? You've been here for some time now <3

It looks like Solas has some cookies in his pockets  the wolf is all like "give me cookies maybe plz?"
But apparently Solas likes them too much, he won't share. Such a dread wolf.

I agree, i mean on a large scale. Christianity was a ground shaking religion that put the idea of purity for everyone high on the list of ideals to follow. Idk I wasnt intending a religious debate as i dont want to offend anyone.

Yeah, I'm not really trying to debate anyone's religion. Also, I'm coming at this issue from a nonbelievers angle. From that viewpoint, I'm trying to get at why religion would hold up 'purity' as something worthwhile. I know a religious person say, well, because god said so. But, again, why? Well, control over who women have sex with was viewed as a need in society due to inheritance issues. Naturally, when religions formed (Christianity borrowed from these much older religions), they codified this 'need' into their religious doctrines. Religion was and, often still is, a societal glue and law enforcer. It props up values that society already holds dear and often codifies them.

ETA: Oh yeah, YAY Solas!

That ****** moved my furniture around. Which for me is my strawbreaking moment. I'm sure Abaeni, Aubrey, or Eavan,  my inquisitors,  wouldn't care, but that made me grit my teeth so hard!

I can defiantly see the Arlathvhen thing. And if they fall in love and want to stay together, then one of them moves to other clan. I just can't see the average Dalish, one who has no desire to leave their clan, want to start boinking half the clanmates, then be ok with switching families.

Again, it depends on the individual. However, I also don't see someone who has a lot of sex being stigmatized (like the are in our society for example). For the Dalish, sex is just another fact of life. You can't really afford to be coy about it when you have so little privacy to begin with. So if you have sex with a bunch of your friends but don't decide to marry any of them, I don't see anybody holding it against you. You're probably expected to test the waters a bit before you get into a committed relationship. That's often how it goes in real examples of small tribal systems.

Also, "switching families" doesn't have to be permanent. In fact, in nomadic hunter-gatherer societies, if you get into an argument that makes it too awkward to stay in your band (usually around 20-60 people) then people often take a trip to another band where they have family. Then, after everything's blown over, they go back. It's a useful way of maintaining group solidarity.

First, thank you very much!

Second, yeah, it's crazy isn't? Did I accidentally typed something in the console that would have triggered this? I have no idea but it was hilarious :D

Third, this makes me wonder... If we ever find him in a DLC, maybe our Lavellan should try this trick? Who knows, he might reconsider his position on the matter? <_<

Hmmm I'll show myself out now...

This calls for a blanket fort.

tumblr_inline_mqf1uyhhfo1qz4rgp.jpg

For my 18th or 19th birthday (I can't recall exactly, it was a couple years ago), a friend of mine convinced me that the best way to spend it was to create a blanket fort just like this one, which we ultimately dubbed "Fort Wizard"... and now I come to think of it, that's probably the most normal birthday I've ever had?

  :P

Paternity isn't necessarily only important for agricultural societies. There are nomadic cattle herding societies where paternity is extremely important. I'd say that it's more a reflection on the division of labour. You can see control of reproduction being less of an issue in societies where women are relied upon more for subsistence (such as in hunter-gatherer societies). But the larger point still stands. Since we see no functional difference between the roles of men and women among the Dalish, then Dalish women likely have a lot of freedom in choosing who to marry, when to marry, and whether they have sex outside of marriage.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just saying that for the most part, we've seen and heard about definitive partners, not a free for all. (Please do not read that last sentence in an insulting tone)

I appreciate Viv more in this second playthrough.  I am also amazingly close with her so I'm just gunna ride it out and see where it goes.  Everyone LOVES me right now - except Solas.  Just finished Adamant and Cole's quest - he massively disapproves at the moment.

I don't think his true form is a wolf.  I think he looks the way he is, an elf.  The elven gods seem to have been shapeshifters though, so I imagine he can take wolf form.  And as that unfinished fresco may suggest, a wolfy dragon form, especially since dragon shapeshifting was apparently an elven god thing in particular.

I like this idea. But even Mythal is not depicted as a dragon in her mosaics. All the pantheons appear to be elves. All except him.

Well we've heard about "definitive partners" in the context of marriage, which fits. Marriage is a formal declaration of relatedness. A relationship with a lover, on the other hand, is something very personal. I can see the Dalish not wanting to discuss their lovers openly. But by that same token I have a feeling that, because of how small a typical clan is, everyone knows anyways, so you don't really have to discuss it.

I get where you're coming from that depends on the individual and the clan. It really does. But a lot of people can't have sex without forming emotional attachments. And I personally don't believe its society, I think it the way people are. Especially if you live in a tight clan with them your whole life, attachments are made. Feelings get hurt,

Agreed. In fact, according to the codex, Witherstalk is a safe, abundant, and reliable form of birth control. That's something that we didn't get until the 60s! If birth control is in fact available, then I can't see why the Dalish would be all that rigid about sex outside of marriage, and I suspect that it really isn't that big a deal.

Well it would be called wither stalk, wouldn't it? But it doesn't sound too much fun for the guy...

I like this idea. But even Mythal is not depicted as a dragon in her mosaics. All the pantheons appear to be elves. All except him.

Likely because it was the animal he was most closely associated with.  Mythal isn't known as the 'dread dragon'.   He's known as the "dread wolf" likely because it was the shapeshifting form he most preferred - or the only one he could do.  Ghil'hanain(I dunno the halla chick) is not depicted as an elf, rather she is known by her most favored animal - the halla.  Someone on here suggested that this may signify that both stood outside the pantheon.  They were gods, certainly, but were not originally so. Or something else.  We'll find out more I'm sure.
