I took Solas, Viv, and Dorian around for a while as a mage. Team Mage was the sassiest, and surprisingly badass. Everyone had a barrier and everything else was on fire. And Solas definitely gave as good as he got. After a while I swear he and Viv were enjoying themselves way too much.

I remember taking this trio to the Emerald Graves area. The one with the trees, brontos and giants. Let's just say, no one survived longer than 1 minute on Nightmare, even Viv and my KE had to solo these things. Again. Mayhap my AI is especially glitchy, who knows...

I also love dragging Cole along due to his marvellous banter and environment comments (like this random "war in the Fade, waged with human rage"  ). But Cole just loves to die in every fight *sigh*

So did the Elvish have arenas? Saw a codex mentioning a rumor of one in exalted plains. One wonders who would have fought there. Slaves against slaves? Slaves against beasts? Or maybe they were too refined after all. I think the gods would have enjoyed such sport, especially Andruil.

 

There's three of them in Emprise du Lion, the ones with the high dragons hanging out in them.  I remember some promotional screenshots of them describing them as ancient elven arenas.  The location is interesting, considering the Dalish lore connected with the place.  It's where Elgar'nan is said to have fought and buried his father the Sun.  (Hence the hot springs, The Pools of the Sun.)  Maybe the ancient elves felt they were honoring that victory by continuing to have battles there, whether they were slaves or otherwise as gladiators there.

Words of wisdom: When exploring the third arena in Emprise, do not run blindly straight through the arches at the top of the hill.  It leads to a very long drop onto the head of a very angry dragon.

Just watch when it turns out that Andruil was one of the nicest pantheon members before she got hit with the red lyrium whammy.  And June was secretly behind everything the entire time.

Of the Creators, I'm very wary of Falon'din after his ominous and Archdemon-y Song, suspicious of Dirthamen after all the nonsense in his Temple, (WHO PUTS THAT MANY ARCANE HORRORS TOGETHER? COME ON!) and suspect Sylvaise was the closest to Fanon Andruil in personality.

It gives me soooo many Solasmance feels! Parts of it fit for from Solas POV and from Lavellan's view - mostly her's all parts of the relationship. I'd point out what parts are what but I dont think it needs it.

 

Also..well..huh..now that I think of it..this is about to be a SPG (Steam Powered Giraffe) spam of Solasmance songs.

Right? I'm betting Solas was really rethinking his choice of words when he called my PC graceful. Like running at top speed straight off a cliff, but not just any cliff- a cliff directly overhanging a dragon, but not just any dragon- the strongest dragon in the friggin' game.

Brace yourselves. I made a thing, ya'll. I said I was gonna do it several (hundred?) pages back, and now it's done. Few characters have ever actually inspired me enough to make something like this, because all I have is windows movie maker and it's horrible annoying to work with. You'd think windows based software would work perfectly on windows. Hmph.

 

So, it's nothin' fancy. No special effects. Just a bitter sweet mandarin song with bitter sweet Solas & Tiger Festival clips.

 

The song was one of the first I learned in mandarin and it always makes me melancholy. I barely know the language - literally everything I learned, I learned from music -  and I can't read hanzi for crap, but I love Chinese history and culture, and I nerd out on it at every opportunity. I paraphrased subtitles on the video to fit in the time the lyrics allow. With some creative pronoun swapping, they can be imagined as coming from Solas, or Lavellan, or even the hopeful player.

 

There's a horrible video slow down at the beginning of the song that was not intended. Also you can barely hear the clip at the start. So yeah. It's pretty terrible I reckon. But it's mine. And like the mother of an ugly child, I'm still sorta proud of it. It's unlisted, so sharing here on the off chance someone else will like it too.

Does anyone else have that problem of turning into a complete moron whenever someone else is in the room while you're playing the game?

I went from casually taking down dragons in Skyrim to trying to sneak attack a dragon with an arrow from a vertical cliff, only to fall on top of it, get launched across the map and set on fire and be taken out in one hit from a wolf.

I was in the Storm Coast when I fell down a cliff side in front of a cave mouth.  Took a good chunk of damage.  My companions didn't warp down to me.  Then I hear footsteps ... aaand a deepstalker casually walks up and kills me.  Yes ... a deepstalker.  I was like ... really?  REALLY?!!
