Right? I'm betting Solas was really rethinking his choice of words when he called my PC graceful. Like running at top speed straight off a cliff, but not just any cliff- a cliff directly overhanging a dragon, but not just any dragon- the strongest dragon in the friggin' game.  

 

Smooth, Lavellan. Real smooth.

 

I don't know whether to feel good or bad that I wasn't the only one who plunged into the abyss.

 

Seconds passed and I noticed that Solas wasn't supporting me with backup fire, so I switched to him to check why: he was standing at the edge of the cliff where I'd jumped from, looking down at the Inquisitor with a deadpan expression that said 'Really, Lavellan? Really.'

 

I made him jump, too. Ha, take that!

I saw amazing Solas dream again... He was younger in that one. He had his dreadlocks.. it was so romantic dream and in the dream I knew that he was the dread wolf and he left me in the end but he was able to dissapear again similar way as cole and I remember that he was cabable of reading my mind and he was watching me from the dark corners and I rememeber being like

'' SOLAS T_T I LOVE YOU PLEASE COME BACK * cries out loud * ''

I really like the idea of the Creators interacting with the Neromenians and the Tevinter in particular, and Solas finding them annoying little brats. 

 

The hilarious subtext being that there's a good bet he's not entirely wrong about the flowers, given what we know about how areas like the Crossroads react to the "song" in elvhen blood.  

 

The frolicking is another story.  I have a really hard time imagining Solas... frolicking.

Brace yourselves. I made a thing, ya'll. I said I was gonna do it several (hundred?) pages back, and now it's done. Few characters have ever actually inspired me enough to make something like this, because all I have is windows movie maker and it's horrible annoying to work with. You'd think windows based software would work perfectly on windows. Hmph.

 

So, it's nothin' fancy. No special effects. Just a bitter sweet mandarin song with bitter sweet Solas & Tiger Festival clips.

 

The song was one of the first I learned in mandarin and it always makes me melancholy. I barely know the language - literally everything I learned, I learned from music -  and I can't read hanzi for crap, but I love Chinese history and culture, and I nerd out on it at every opportunity. I paraphrased subtitles on the video to fit in the time the lyrics allow. With some creative pronoun swapping, they can be imagined as coming from Solas, or Lavellan, or even the hopeful player.

 

There's a horrible video slow down at the beginning of the song that was not intended. Also you can barely hear the clip at the start. So yeah. It's pretty terrible I reckon. But it's mine. And like the mother of an ugly child, I'm still sorta proud of it. It's unlisted, so sharing here on the off chance someone else will like it too.

It took them ninety years as a ragged group that was not well-established in every nation to take him down. Zazikel was dealing with a Thedas prepared for Blights, with Wardens likely tagging along with every major army in Thedas just in case, and avoided death for ninety years while attacking all of Thedas at once from the mountains.. In vengeance for the Wardens' first victory, Zazikel annihilates the city of Nordbotten and takes Hossberg as his opening moves, All of this against the Wardens and the Orlesian Empire at its peak under legendary strategist Emperor Kordillius Drakon I, as well as a relatively strong Tevinter Imperium. Slain at Starkhaven.)

TOTH: 7809-7824: (Fifteen years. While a short run, the odds were really stacked up against Toth. The Wardens are at their peak, and he made the great strategic error of focusing the horde in Central Thedas. Directly between the two empires of Orlais and Tevinter, who are working together with the Wardens. It's a miracle he lasted as long as he did. No mention of cities razed. Probably disappointed Papa Dumat, but earned a grudging nod of respect for refusing to give up. Slain at Hunter Fell.)

ANDORAL: 8011-8023: (Twelve years. Even shorter run. Still did okay. Completely overwhelmed Antiva and most of the Free Marches, even taking out Warden-Commander Turab and the Antivan Royal family in person. Went up against Garahel, the Commander Shepard of his Age. Taken down by *SPOILER FOR LAST FLIGHT*

 Good show. On the other hand, beaten so decisively many surfacers thought the darkspawn had been exterminated permanently. Possibly a cunning plan on Andoral's part.Slain at Aylesleigh fighting Garahel and his crew of outcasts. )

URTHEMIEL: 8429-8430: (About a year. It took two Warden recruits and one badass Senior Warden a year to gather an army from one of the smallest and then weakest nations in Thedas and kill him. No griffons required. He managed to overwhelm some of the uninhabited parts of Ferelden, like the Korcari Wilds, as well as some successes in South Reach and the like. Some success in the Bannorn. Probably should have flung himself off Fort Drakon and committed suicide so he could respawn and spend a few decades building up forces to avoid embarrassing the other Old Gods. Razikale and Luscan don't have to do much to outshine him. At least he comes across as admirably tactical and douchey with the Tamlen stunt and Darkspawn Chronicles. Died in the Battle of Denerim. As you probably remember.)

Back before we knew he was a romance option, and people were complaining about how ugly and boring he was, one of the designers came in here and made this wonderfully long and detailed post about how much work went into the designs of all of the characters, and how deliberately they tried to make their appearances fit with their personalities, and how difficult it was to resist the pressure from marketing to make them "prettier". I'm not against Solas having had hair at one time, but his design in Inquisition was very carefully crafted. And that's also why I dislike people on tumblr complaining about how unfair it is that Solas doesn't look more like his concept art. The way he looks was a deliberate design choice, and is as much a part of his character as his dialogue.

But then I stopped watching them since DA:I came into my life, and suddenly my crush on Ross was replaced by my obsession with crush on Solas.   I might eventually get back into them though. I always do.

They do it ALL THE TIME and I'm frankly insulted. XD Two of my uncles are bald, and they're the best handwarmers ever. And, they're awesome, lovely people. The only good men in my life.

 

I'm also upset that there is a mod out that removes Solas' freckles. I try not to be bothered by it but...I have freckles. If someone dislikes Solas' freckles enough to remove them (and they're barely visible in the first place), I wonder what they're thinking when they look at people with freckles as well.

When I was first looking into the characters as they were introduced, I was honestly thinking there weren't a lot of romance options that appealed to me as far as looks went. Cullen was the only one that looked like 'my type' at first glance. But oh man did the personalities drag me in. Even Blackwall with his bushy beard managed to steal my heart. And Solas, as soon as I started talking to him back at haven, he got soooooo interesting, which I think is part of why I am so stuck on him, because it's a natural progression from introduction, to interest, to attraction/respect. I'm glad they didn't make them prettier, because they wouldn't be the same characters then.

Just watch when it turns out that Andruil was one of the nicest pantheon members before she got hit with the red lyrium whammy.  And June was secretly behind everything the entire time.

Of the Creators, I'm very wary of Falon'din after his ominous and Archdemon-y Song, suspicious of Dirthamen after all the nonsense in his Temple, (WHO PUTS THAT MANY ARCANE HORRORS TOGETHER? COME ON!) and suspect Sylvaise was the closest to Fanon Andruil in personality.

Shake the earth is interesting considering Arlathan is said to have been taken into the earth. But I like his song. Gets the blood pumping.

 ...have I mentioned how completely terrifying that song to Falon'Din is in terms of blight?   I'm willing to chalk up his mastery over "the dark that lies" to manipulative fade-dreams, though it's a bit unsettling how it mirrors Corypheus' description of the "darkness" he found and mastered in the City.  It's the line about how his faithful sing that makes me twitch.  Nothing like being stuffed with red lyrium to make a Song nice and loud.

 

That said, it has to be a red herring, right?  Still on board with Triple Threat Theory, still clinging to the idea that Solas and his soul are working in tandem... these days at least, if not the whole time.  Cole would freak the hell out otherwise, right?  

 

Right.   Everything is fine.  I'm sure it is.

That's the one that makes him "softer," no? My friend showed it to me and I was wondering why they'd want to do that, too. She put it best when she said, "Softer? Sounds revolution-era to me, describing Mythal (Earth) turning on him and supporting the rebellion.  Interesting line about burning the ground under his gaze though, given the weird defensive laser weapon we run into in the Citadelle du Corbeau.  That one's clearly just human-salvaged scrap left over from Halamshiral, but it's a starting point for imagining similar weapons' use in ancient Arlathan.
