*nervous laughter*

...have I mentioned how completely terrifying that song to Falon'Din is in terms of blight? I'm willing to chalk up his mastery over "the dark that lies" to manipulative fade-dreams, though it's a bit unsettling that the description mirrors how Corypheus describes the "darkness" he found and mastered in the City. It's the line about how his faithful sing that makes me twitch. Nothing like being stuffed with red lyrium to make a Song nice and loud.

That said, it has to be a red herring, right? Still on board with Triple Threat Theory, still clinging to the idea that Solas and his soul are working in tandem... these days at least, if not the whole time. Cole would freak the hell out otherwise, right?

Right. Everything is fine. I'm sure it is.

Except for Sylaise. That chick is crazy.

EDIT : Pretend my post isn't here. I'm deleting what I've written before someone has a chance to witness my nonsense. I am an uncultured swine & should never try to analyze poetry. Nobody saw anything.

  1.
    The Pretender
    Song by Foo Fighters
  2. Keep you in the dark
    You know they all pretend
    Keep you in the dark
    And so it all began
    Send in your skeletons
Sing as their bones go marching in again
    They need you buried deep
The secrets that you keep are ever ready
    Are you ready?
    I'm finished making sense
    Done pleading ignorance
    That whole defense
    Spinning infinity
Boy, the wheel is spinning me
    It's never ending, never ending
    Same old story
What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
    You're the pretender
What if I say that I will never surrender?
What if I say I'm not like the others?
What if I say I'm not just another one of your plays?
    You're the pretender
What if I say that I'll never surrender?
In time or so I'm told
I'm just another soul for sale, oh well

...OH.

I got it now.

Nevermind.

The timeline officially involves no math for Caddius now.
I think there's a lore error in the World of Thedas timeline, throwing some dates off by one year. And that's what been tripping me up. I'll do the timeline the way I'm doing it now, and if there is something wrong with how I handled it, someone else can figure it out and explain it to me, and I'll fix it.

<snip>

I'm glad ya'll like the vid though. Makes wrestling with movie maker even more worth it. And Capri, I'm chuffed that you think my Tiger Festival is cute. I always thought she was sorta plain compared to the rest. And she's really bad at looking good in screenshots.

Oh, but she is cute!  ^_^ I always thought that my Lavellan looked plain (and boring) compared to all the others I've seen (and mine looks really bad under certain lightings... ).

EDIT: I wonder, do others sometimes feel that way about their own Inquisitors? Like when you create a character then compare it to what others have created then you think, "Gee, my character doesn't look as awesome as that character over there?" I sometimes feel that way...

Oh well, it's just a thought. Feel free to ignore it.

Off topic, but does anyone else jump off of all the buildings in Skyhold because it's faster to get around, and then forget not to do that out in the world and take massive damages? Cause I do that all the time.

I do that sometimes. I jump off cliffs when out in the world way too many times just to get to a certain destination faster, but damn, is it a waste of a potion (or two). ^__^;

People bashed him for his baldness?? BORING?! Ugly?!

Yep. It's actually kinda funny how disinterested most people were in him in hindsight. If you want a better sense of how the BSN reacted to him at first, then here's an interesting thread from last march. Bonus for a hilariously prescient OP.

http://forum.bioware...romance-for-pc/

Ever since this guy was confirmed everyone seems to have been dissapointed how ugly, boring and most of all BALD character bioware dares to fling at us.This irritates me a bit because we have not even heard anything of his personality or history.

That is why I think it would be funny if he turned out to be in the end the best LI Bioware has created or something so all naggers would have to awkardly eat their own preconceptions.

EDIT: Okay, re-reading this topic, and these posts are absolute gold. I'm ironically liking practically everything. I mean, just look at this:

His skinny little legs absolutely crack me up. As vain as it sounds, I won't romance someone I do not find aesthetically pleasing at least a little. I mean, they needn't be a goddess or god to the eyes (I'm not lol) but I do require a smidgen of attraction. I definitely do not see this in Solas. At all. But there will be tons of people who do. Which is what matters. It is only the "main romance" if you so choose. You needn't romance anyone.

Can't...breathe...

With ME, definitely.  It's really, really hard to make a Shep who looks relatively unique, yet awesome.  Though the facecodes help, and between that and Gibbed, I managed to tweak Shep to perfection.

With Inquisition...I'm pretty happy with my Lavellan and Adaar.  But Lavellan took three tries and well over 5 hours in the CC, and her first incarnation was bleh.  Adaar somehow took like 20 minutes

"Pride and Prejudice" - A Romance Novel by Patrick Weekes.

An elvhen dreamer possessing a singular fortune of ancient knowledge is confronted with a powerful elven woman from the countryside of Thedas. Her family's want of intellectual and cultural propriety leads him to initially disdain her and consider her beneath him due to his prejudice, wounding her pride. A battle of wits begins - the character traits of pride and prejudice swimming and swapping between them in such intervals that they seem indistinguishable - forcing them to learn that they are more alike than either one would have guessed. A respect forms between them that blossoms into an unlikely romance. But can they overcome their differences in background? Their faults of character? Can they be humble enough to forgive and be forgiven in turn?

------
We'll just have Abelas play the role of Lady Catherine de Burg - "But what of your people, shemlen?!" "My people were the elvhen and I am the elvhen's daughter. So far we are equal." "OH! THIS SHALL NOT BE BORN. ARE THE SHADES OF ARLATHAN TO BE THUS POLLUTED!?"

I'm too tired to polish this right now, but anyhow:

First movie screens, now with captions matching his her vallaslin...

These two posts seriously made my day. I about died laughing.

Now I can go to bed happy and face the first day of the semester tomorrow in good humor. Good night!

I absolutely love Bioware for allowing Solas to be the wonderful, bald, forty-something year old heartbreaker we know and love <3

Right on! Nobody bashes bald guys in my hearing! <3

brb need to go hug personal bald guy

I played ArcheAge for a few months (quit after the publishers let the game economy go to crap), and the best part about it was that you could double-jump and open a glider. So you could glide off cliffs and mountains and everywhere. Well, for weeks after that I kept double-jumping off heights in EVERY GAME and being surprised when I fell to my death. >.<

BED-TIME CRAZY THEORY:

The Ghilan'nain and June working together and accidentally creating the darkspawn makes a certain amount of sense to me. The Blight twisting women into broodmothers and producing corrupted copies that just happen to be born warriors screams 'bio-engineering' to me.

So can we blame it this way?

Andruil: Brought the Taint back from the Void, went crazy. Cured, eventually.

June: Enabled Andruil by building her a crazy awesome Void suit out of curiosity whether he could do it. Red lyrium.

Ghilan'nain: Darkspawn. Jesus. A+ in Biology and a gold star for creativity, but Jesus.

Falon'din: Taking advantage of the chaos to try to usurp power.

Sylvaise: Trying to show-up everyone and seize power.

Dirthamen: Probably with Falon'din.

Mythal: Having the audacity to be murdered at a crucial moment. Probably in charge of quarantining corrupted gods and Elvhen.

Elgar'nan: Spent most of his time putting down rebellions and brooding in a manly fashion. Maybe he actually took down Barindur with a volcano as retaliation for Mythal? If you subscribe to the Elgar'nan=Dumat theory, that is. Or even if you don't, and Dumat just got the credit because Dumat and Elgie share a certain grand old god style.

Fen'harel: Tossed all of the gods and the Blight away in prisons and hoped for the best. Took a nap.

So weird thought that came to me right as I was about to fall to sleep and it hit me and I need to write it down so I don't forget it.

We mentioned today the hilarity of June being the betrayer, the one who orchestrated the downfall of the Elvhen Pantheon and how, if he were Sandal, he'd be the last one we would suspect. There are strange things about June. There are few depictions of him. He is said to have created himself despite being called the sibling to Sylaise and Andruil. His tools associated with him changed over time and were clearly foreign to what was common amongst the elves. Moreover, he had few if any depictions or presence within the elven pantheon narrative the further you go back in time. His vallaslin is clearly from a different shape language from the others - it lacks the sinuous, delicate, or fluid hand of the others. His is practically approached with monoline and little line weight variation. The background of his mosaic is practically dwarven in style.

BEWARE ALL WHO CLICK HERE. I have literally no idea what I typed or am typing and this is LITERALLY a pre-sleep thought. I give it NO water. So if you're into tinfoil hat theories to the MAX then open this. If not, please move right along. I will be the OPPOSITE of offended. Grateful, actually.

Spoiler

If June crafted the darkspawn, it could explain why they originated in the Deep Roads- the dwarven territory. It could also explain why the prisons of the old gods are located in the deep roads- because if June was intentionally infecting other gods, it would make sense that he would have a "convenient" solution to their problem: a prison of his own making to lock them away in his own territory.

I am totally enabling this and that's totally ok. Because crazy bed-time theories are awesome.

EDIT: So like after he infects the old gods and they get locked away in his prisons, they become like his pets now.

I'm really curious as to what the Old God prisons actually looking like. How do the darkspawn break in? Or is just touching the prison enough to wake up the Old God and corrupt it? (Pretty awful prison, if you ask me.)

If the Wardens ever could marshal the forces to cut their way to an Old God without alerting them, how would they break in?

I like the idea that June screwed up and caused a ton of problems, and then teamed up with Solas in desperation to prevent the end of the world.

The line Solas has talking about the flaw in sharing power, "I can still see the lines of her face," or something like that makes me suspect either Andruil, Ghilan'nain, or Sylvaise. But Andruil doesn't strike me as a full on villain. A jackass, certainly. Tainted by the Void and the Blight, yes.

So Sylvaise foolishly manipulating the other Creators, June just experimenting with runes and magic, and Ghilan'nain going full cackling mad-scientist. Maybe June was trying to make an alternate source of magic, as the Taint?

Banalhan. Place where the Blight originates. Also the place of nothing, yes? Sounds like the elves attribute the Blight to the Void.

I think it's getting close to my crazy theory bedtime too.

A tiny question relative to the bed time crazy theory, mostly because I'd like to get it sorted in my head official like:

The Veil: Did it exist when the ancient elven demi-gods roamed the earth? I was under the impression that it did not. And that, like Solas said, spirits flit in and out of the world at will. Meaning Falon'din knew the secret roads in and out of the Fade that spirits themselves used and that's why it was his area of expertise. It doesn't change much about the theory. I'm just trying to establish when the veil came to be. I assumed it was after the ancients were locked away. Or possibly part of the method for sealing them?

SANDAL AS JUNE:

End of Origins.

Darkspawn attack Sandal en masse.

"YOU FOOLS, I MADE ALL OF YOU! I CAN UNMAKE YOU JUST BY SCRATCHING MY BUTT! *one-shot multi kill*"

Demons attack in DA2.

"I overthrew the gods. You're just lickspittles."

Sandal as an evil mastermind is wonderfully weird and hilarious to think about.

I remembered not being happy with my Shep a bit when I created her. Something about her cheekbones always bothered me but I learned to love her anyway. :P

For Lavellan, it took me two tries to get her looking the way I wanted her to. She looked like a little boy out of CC on her first incarnation and I eventually didn't like the vallaslin she had on her (she originally had one of the fuller Mythal vallaslin designs). Second try turned out much better and I opted for the simpler Mythal vallaslin.

For my Trevelyan, it didn't really take much time for me to create him. He kind of looks like Krem, actually. Same skin color and same hairstyle, but it wasn't intentional. It just happened. xD Though I've also seen other male Trevelyans who look like him.

I don't think we know. The complex dynamic between Falon'din and Dirthamen relating to the Fade makes me think it was present during the Gods' heyday. Solas's very vivid descriptions of a muddled world, as well as the mysteries about Skyhold, make me think it was created. (Also the tribal legend mentioned on a weapon someone mentioned hundreds of pages ago.)

I'd like to think the Veil was created, the Black/Golden City was created, and the Old God Prisons were created by the Elvhen or related forces, over a span of centuries if not millennia, as they refused to die out to the Blight or dragons or whatever the hell else life threw at them. Desperate measure after desperate measure, until at last a handful of slumbering Sentinels and Fen'harel, and the wisp of Mythal are all that remain.

This gives them a lot of time for trying to adjust to the new way of things, adding things into their spheres of influence, changing roles, lots of wars amongst each other, the game-changer that was the Neromenian Dreamers, the Quickening, etcetera.

:)
