Must try all of this.
So far I've only gotten the banters. Nothing when I speak to companions.
And Madame Vivianne can go drown herself in a river
She doesn't go together with my IQ at all.
Aw, I love Viv.
She's intelligent, badass, and cold as ice. Probably not the kind of person I'd care to be friends with irl, but I respect her achievements. She sort of took my dalish inquisitor under her wing, I think, which bemused my Lavellan. Vivienne's quite motherly, which is when she displays her gentler side. Her banter with Solas is amazing, too. She's one of the few characters who can match him for wits and wordplay.
@Jellobell: Think my favourite companion response to it is Sera. "Yeah I've seen the way you look at him. Bet he screams ELVEN GLORY when he does it.' If you ask her about him as a companion specifically after establishing your romance.
Oh, Sera. I like to think that that comment was revenge for Solas trolling her after she put lizards in his bedroll. And speaking of Sera, the way she shouts, "Elfy! Get up!" in this really worried tone whenever Solas goes down is rather adorable. I really do like their relationship.
And re: Cole. I made him human because it made for the best character arc imo. At certain points he says that he chose to make himself "forget" the Fade. Like in that stargazing banter with Solas in the hissing wastes. He's making a concerted effort to become "more real", and he is consciously severing ties with his spirit side in order to better be able to help people. It was a nice progression to taking him to the Fade in Here Lies the Abyss. Once again, he asserts that he left for a reason. Then you get those talks with Spirit!Justinia about the importance of memory in being able to change. And Cole's expressed an interest in learning and growing. Becoming more. So by allowing him to continue on that path, my Inquisitor saw it as giving him the chance to follow through on his original choice. And I loved how self-aware human!Cole was. He wasn't as uncomplicatedly happy, but he was able to analyze his own mind much better. That whole conversation about how he understood Rhys and Evangeline much better, and how he was was coming to enjoy being human melted my heart.
His personal quest is also such a lovely look at Solas's mindset, too. In my game, I'd done All New and then Here Lies the Abyss. So basically he went from seeing one of his only friends corrupted into a demon, to seeing legions of innocent spirits corrupted into demons because of the Grey Wardens' weakness. No wonder he was so freaked out at Varric's suggestions. But my Inquisitor, who had been paying attention to Cole, and who hadn't seen as many spirits corrupted as Solas had, made the call to allow Cole to deal with things as a human. And I loved that, even though he disapproved, Solas saw that Cole was actually doing very well, and acknowledged that he might have been mistaken. I thought it was a lovely character moment when Cole and Varric went off, leaving Solas and Lavellan alone together. In my headcanon, she used the opportunity to reassure him. After all, Solas values thoughtful plans, and she'd thought about this very carefully.
