I just don't read the stuff I don't care about. I really enjoy reading some of the theories, lore and looking at the pretty art people post though. Personally, I'm not into the porn and smut either...but a lot of people are..and that's fine..I skip that part. Easy enough. :)

This is going to be pretty a-hole...ish but...

Aaaaaanyway.  I was going to make another Lavellan....I've grown tired of Atisha's nose...but then I decided, they are eventually going to add something to this game that lets us change the way our Inquisitors look..so I'll just wait and try to make a Quanari again to romance Bull with.  I am just having the hardest time creating a Quanri I am happy with. *sighs* Plus...this game just isn't as much fun not playing an elf..to me anyway.  I'll probably give up and make a new Lavellan anyway. Solas is just too irresistible.

Thanks for the link! Looking at it, hmm... Maybe it's just a really really difficult jump puzzle? I'm going to take a crack at it once I get to that area. Thankfully it's not in a one-time dungeon. Completionist run is still go!

In other Solas-related news, my cousin informed me last night that he rolled a female elf specifically to romance Solas for his fourth playthrough. He knows about the sads, mostly because I pestered him about how heartbroken I was for a while and had him watch the romance scenes. I'm looking forward to his reaction playing through the whole thing himself.  :D

I've been trying to get my sister to romance Solas for her third playthrough. She is also partly the reason why I got interested in Solas in the first place. She got the game before me so she was ahead of me by a few days and told me that Solas is a very interesting character. She played a Lavellan as well but when I asked why she didn't romance him she said it's because he was bald.  -_- That was when she was still early in the game though. She now finds him rather handsome and of course she knows about the sadness of his romance scenes via YouTube (she even cried at the final romance scene).

I just want her to properly experience the Solas romance since watching YouTube videos of it is not entirely the same thing. Plus, I want her to wallow in misery with me. :P

-----

And about Solas' quest finally triggering, I hope this patch comes to consoles soon. The completionist in me needs it.

Also, art. ;)

Q: have any of you found the hidden quest that starts with Parson's Battered Notebook? It's in the Emerald Graves. I can find very little information on it.

I do know what you mean.  I am extremely picky when it comes to art. I share a lot of art I don't really care for, but others might.

BTW...my mother does not want a Solas corndog. She didn't even ask about it.

Call it freedom corndogs. It's still prideful without the fictional character reference.

Thank you x3 sometimes I wish more ppl in this thread would watch these videos.. I mean I spend like 5-8 hours making a video and then most of the ppl ignore it and don't even see.. T_T

True and sad story.. lol XD

Don't be so hard on yourself.

I work very hard on my fanart. It takes 3 or more days to do one picture, if I'm not too busy with other things during the day, and I only get one or two likes on my tumblr page. Am I going to give up just because of that? No. I love making art and all of the work and frustration is worth it as long as I can smile and be proud of what I have accomplished.

Seriously, I was working on my Ghilan'nain picture earlier and I had to scrap and redo it in a fit of tears three separate times because my 3d model wouldn't pose the exact way I wanted her to. I worked around it, though and I am in the process of inking the lineart.

What I am trying to say is, do it for yourself. Do it because it makes you happy. You never know, one day you might strike some real good views and they will want to watch ALL OF THE THINGS. *shows unicorn pictures in desperate efforts to cheer you up*

I hope you don't take this the wrong way because I'm trying to be encouraging and text is a rough medium. But if the reason you're doing fan projects is to see how many others will look at it/like it/comment on it, you may wish to re-evaluate your approach. In the end, it will only lead to disappointment. Years of being practically unnoticed on dA has taught me well. I've learned you gotta to do these things because you like them, or not at all.

Now if only I'd practice what I preach and draw something again. That'd be great.

But... ffxiv just had a huge patch content patch drop... so I think I'll procrastinate a little more.

Everyone else has fanart covered anyway, right?

Edit: I got ninja'd. Rebby beat me to it and worded it better. :3

Does anyone have the answer to this question....

How old is Solas?

Assuming that the Pantheon was active by the year we're given for Arlathan's founding, that it was a 'golden capital' created after the gods came to the elves...

Arlathan was founded 8441 years before the events of Inquisition. So he's probably at least that old. Uthenera does wonders for your complexion, apparently.

I was just thinking of the wolves that the emerald knights had and what a possible connection to Solas there might be.

Or the wolves to Fen'Harel. Maybe nothing. Probably nothing.

I was just wondering about this yesterday too. Hmm...

EDIT: ooh, not top of the page but almost, so I guess I'll upload the art I posted a WIP of a while back

Re smut: I am pretty new to the fan scene, but what I think is novel about spaces like this is that it lets people disclose and examine modes of desire. It is very Petrarchan--when art becomes the locus for expressions and vocalizations of  a myriad forms of desire. Such expressions become a communal activity. The disclosure and publication of desire within a communal space is pretty cool and subversive.

When I say "desire," I'm not speaking about just eros. (Although I do love me some eros).

Also, I think that it is pretty awesome that people actively participate through a myriad of forms--music, art, writing.

Rambling!

Thank you x3 I also do fanart drawing and I am used to it. I do it for myself :3 Otherwise I wouldn't do them at all but I also like to share things with others.. maybe get some hints what I could do better? I like the feedback usually haha. I need unicorns <3 *_*

As I said here before haha x3 I didn't get it wrong. You are right. But I do it for myself :D That is the main reason I do these.. but I just want people to see them because.. I just.. I feel like that when I see something cool myself I feel happy and I feel like '' OMG OMGOMG ''
So I want other people to also get a good feeling.. you know what I mean? x3 I also like to get the feedback which I also mentioned before.

I just want to make people happy and get requests! :3 and ideas! I love doing good for others!

I imagine even before the great city of Arlathan there were city-states that belonged to each elven god before being united under one empire.

SCIENCE. YES.

Ok I have a few things to add because this is one of the few times I can actually be relevant! Joy.

For your fire & coal theory:  the coal isn't actually irreversibly lost- as matter can neither be created nor destroyed.  It is a combustion reaction! Chemistry! Fun! Ok so: Any time you burn something, what you see is an exothermic combustion reaction - where the compound and air combine to form water & carbon dioxide as products.  These two products are always formed. The compound, coal in this scenario, has of a lot of carbon and hydrogen bonds, that is where the C's and H's come from in your products. Water and carbon dioxide are not inert compounds, they can react with a lot of things in the environment, so perhaps instead of the earth -in your scenario- being irreversibly lost, perhaps it is merely in a different form, waiting for an opportunity to react with something.  Like maybe create/form something entirely different? Different is not always bad!

BY THE WAY. Did you ever get my response to your PM? I tried to write things clearly but uh... sorry. I got excited. I hope I helped.

No argument there.   I think that this is one of the examples where the game laws are twisted rather than directly reflected.  Representing a "used" combustion resource as anthracite coal doesn't make any sense, logically, but the writers probably thought it would be both too obvious and lose some inferred meaning (Mythal being a more concentrated, "ancient" version of the Stone's Fade)  if she and the orb turned to vapor and ash and blew away.

And yes, I got your reply!   I'm still... kind of... wrapping my mind around it.  @w@  Because physics.  So much physics.   But thank you!   It was really helpful!

Gosh, it sometimes boggles my mind that Solas is actually very, very, very old:wacko:

(Yes I know, he's an immortal god-but-not-really-a-god but still... dat age gap. :P)

I totally understand that feeling, Janesutin. Sometimes, I am so proud of what I have done and I want to share it with people and...I sometimes have expectations, which is wrong of me. I get the hope that a few people will go, "WOW! THIS WAS SO AMAZING THAT I HAD TO TAKE A COLD SHOWER AFTERWARDS!" but then...nothing. I cry a little on the inside. Then again, I still get some love and a little is still enough for me.

I'm not able to watch videos on my laptop right now, for some reason and it is really ticking me off, but I will subscribe to your channel so that I don't miss any videos.

Also, on the subject, DA is holding a fan creation contest so...maybe you might want to try that out. idk. :P

For our theorists: Several people comment on water pouring into the Fade from the real world, and in Crestwood Cole can comment that water is more familiar to the demons than other substances (something like that, I didn't cap the actual quote so I can't remember his exact wording). Can water really physically pour through the Fade, and if so what does that mean?
