Cole was announced on Monday, with his interview on Tuesday. There was a Varric interview on Saturday because the Iron Bull VO vid was released Friday a couple weeks ago, but I wouldn't count on anything until Monday.

It was put up on the 23rd (Monday) and his interview was put up on the 24th. 

 

Hmm.. Varric's character interview was put up last Saturday (it says 7 days ago on the website) but I still highly doubt we'll get anything today.

Good to know. Also do you know if any have been revealed on a Sunday? I vaguely remember Cole being revealed early in the week, but I'm curious as to when his screenshots were released.

I think they showed Vivienne's picture and quote the Sunday before E3 but I could be wrong.

I feel like it's been kind of all over the place. With the holiday, I'm thinking we'll either get everything on Monday, a Monday/Wednesday split, or stuff at the end of the week. I can't imagine it won't be this week, though. Part of me is expecting a Monday infodump simply because I'll be gone most of that day and will probably miss the initial Solasquake in the thread if it happens then. 

 

I'd be thrilled with Sheryl too...she's written some really excellent stuff, and her twitter is hilarious.

 

I'm most excited about the interview we'll get. We've spent a LONG time with about zero clue as to what the guy's like.

No problem! I've been keeping track of it for just these instances. And the hopes there will be a pattern. I live in the same timezone and am only about 10 hour drive from Edmonton so it's easier for me. I was hoping yesterday would be another VO and today Dorian's interview so that threw things off. Guess they are just doing whatever! Sad there'll be a couple days more till Solas :[

Okay, anyone else noticing something who's read Asunder and Masked Empire?

 

Not to spoil anything for you, but particularly Masked Empire.  The city elves greatly admire the Dalish.  Team Crushed Expectations could mean that Cole is disappointed because Sera won't talk to him, Sera is disappointed because Solas (who may be Dalish) isn't what she thought he'd be, and Solas is disappointed because Cole doesn't have many insights into spirits or the Fade.

 

It could be disappointing if Cole is asked about whether or not he knows about the Creators being trapped in the Eternal City, since he seems to be dealing with something of an identity crisis, and might not possess much knowledge about the Beyond.

 

Then Team Mutually Respectful Theological Debate could refer to Cassandra being a Chantry follower, whereas Solas believes in the ancient elven gods.  In that case, Cole would most likely be the catalyst of the conversation.

 

It would be nice if Solas was Dalish, since it would provide a contrast to the plethora of Andrastian perspectives that currently exist. Although, as you already addressed, his lack of vallaslin suggests he may not be one of the People.

 

Alternatively, given that we know Solas lacks vallaslin, the theory that Solas is an ancient elf might pan out.  Even then, though, I think Sera would be expecting Solas to be Dalish, since why would he come out and say "I'm ancient and I woke up from uthenera back in Arlathan." But if she does know... well, that's even more crushed expectations if he's not what she expects of an ancient elf.

 

Just bear in mind that the general city elves think of the Dalish almost as demigods, or something.  At the very least they hold them in high esteem because they are FREE--and surely they are welcoming to other elves, etc.--they are everything elves should be.  But the reality is that the Dalish are isolationist, flawed, hung up on the past, and even arrogant.   And it's even worse if you're a City Elf and realize that the Dalish don't really care about your rebellion, and even that they might turn against you once you and your enemies sufficiently weaken one another... I am hoping Solas is not that kind of Dalish.  I really do hope he turns out to be ancient... because the implications that he would be the kind of Dalish who doesn't care about the plight of the city elves would be rather disappointing in regard to his character/personality...  Doubt I could stay a fan of him then.

 

Actually, we hear some city elves regard the Dalish as savages in the City Elf Origin, and they even looked down on the elves who tried to live lives outside of the Alienage as 'flat ears', so I don't think it's accurate to say the general view of the Dalish is positive. The Dalish are isolated from a society that criminalized their culture, outlawed their religion, and runs them off when they stay in a single place for too long - and that doesn't even include templars pursuing them to capture or kill their mages. I don't think it's fair to hold it against the Dalish to stay away from a society that's hostile to them, and I don't see it as a flaw for them to want to restore the knowledge of their past - it's not as though they can build much of a future when their way of life is a matter of survival. As Merrill points out, the templars and the hostility from humans are the reason why the Dalish are nomadic.

 

Both the city elves and the Dalish have an unrealistically high expectation for what their ancients were like.  Should Solas turn out to be ancient, well.. is anyone at all going to be happy with him?  He won't be able to magically solve their problems.  He won't have stories of how wonderful everything was and how equal everyone was, because that wasn't how it was.  It would be horribly disappointing to someone who hopes for tales of glory.

 

I don't think the clans think of the Arlathan elves as perfect; Merrill points out that neither the Sabrae clan nor her know who summoned Audacity and bound him to the statute (as he was summoned during the war between Arlathan and Tevinter centuries ago), and the traditional way of life for the Dalish prohibits even using magic that involves spirits. Their lore focuses on the immortality of their ancestors, as well as how 'alien' they were; for example, taking decades to make an introduction is basically unfathomable for any current inhabitant of Thedas. The clans also vary from one another, so I'm certain the opinions on what the Arlathan elves were like will vary as well.

 

It may also simply mean he is NOT invested in the elven rebellion, while I highly suspect she is.  But, when you pair it with Team Mutually Respectful Theological Debate, it makes me think he has different beliefs from Cassandra (and possibly Cole), which, since Solas is an elf, would lean him toward the ancient elven religion camp.  Either that or he's an atheist/agnostic (doesn't seem very likely to me, given the nature of Thedas and magic and all that jazz, but it's possible).

 

The Warden could be atheist, Morrigan argues an atheist perspective in religious debates with Leliana, and Aveline expresses doubt about whether the Maker is even real. so it isn't impossible. As Morrigan says when Leliana brings up spirits and magic, "The fact of their existence does not presuppose an intelligent design by some absentee father-figure." If Solas is from the Alienage and not Dalish, he could either be religiously Andrastian or an atheist, since the elves who submitted to human rule after the fall of the Dales were forced to convert. It's hard to say when there's so little information about him.
