I really need to type out my theory about the dwarven deities and the forgotten ones.
And my veil keeping the magic from the dwarves.
One dayyyyyyy.

That's part of what's driving me crazy. Not only do we not know what's going on in Solas's head, but the epilogue was so ambiguous, we can't even tell for sure whose soul went where and with what purpose and now there are like four souls in one body?!?!?! So confused and need to know the truth!!!
Which is great, to me, because it means they have so many possibilities for how they want to answer the questions these things caused. The wait will kill me, but I am super excited.

Well, we do somewhat know thanks to the developer notes.
Not necessarily. Corypheus is certainly polluted and he's better than ever. Sundered could indicate because some of them had their souls "destroyed". If gods can even truly be destroyed, which this theory would indicate they can't. So being temporarily sundered before they reach their end. While they wait for whatever goal theyre seeking, which I guess is their full power again.
Got to crack a few eggs to make an omlet. May as well be yours if you're a god.
Fair point. But I get the feeling, all we do is merry-go-round with lore, theories, art screens and things that aren't even there. I really hope they make DLC soon
My Dragonborn was probably just the sort of embarrassing exception to the rule that nobody speaks about.
Though, to be honest, I haven't actually felt so very powerful in any game. Awsome, yes, but not quite Superman.
Shepard was on the brink of goodhood, no? ![]()

That's what happens when the devs are purposefully vague and convoluted, lol.
You know, I really hope that whatever Solas is doing and if it turns him into a sort of antagonist, that he isn't completely wrong.
I mean, the well-meaning but misguided villain has been done to death. Those are villains I enjoy but...I kind of want Solas to not be misguided? At least not completely. I just don't like the idea that a thousands of years old being is just being a moron and the PC has to come along and be wiser, smarter, and fix their mistake. It'd be more compelling if Solas had good ends in mind that would be successful but there are still questionable elements to what he's trying to do and you have to weigh the pros and cons as a player.
I know it's unlikely that we'll have a choice to help him or not help him that has a huge impact, unless it's the last game of the series. I imagine we'll be funneled into one overall outcome so continuation isn't impossible, but maybe we can choose to support or not support him and his goals either do or don't come to fruition no matter what you choose.
In regards to the epilogue scene with Flemeth:
I don't think what she was pushing into the eluvian was the Old God soul, in large part because not everyone had done the dark ritual with Morrigan (or had Alistair do it or whatever). More than that, I personally feel like if the play through DOES have Kieran in it, his situation isn't as simple as him having two separate souls. If he did have a soul at the time of his conception and the death of the archdemon (which can be a touchy subject, based off of personal beliefs of what what stage of development constitutes being "alive with a soul"), I feel like they'd be merged together or linked or something. Like Anders or maybe BEYOND: Two Souls style. Minus the blowing up helicopters. In my opinion, taking that soul from him either way would kill him or leave him a vegetable or something.
It does leave the question of exactly what she was doing with the eluvian though. Was she putting something through? Looking through it? Maybe prepping it to transport that little wisp of energy we see once Solas does The Thing? And either way, where does it lead? Or is it like its own pocket of reality to hold that piece of herself, for someone to discover?
I'm rambling at this point. I am bad at contributing in a coherent fashion.
Maybe she opened it??

I wouldn't mind being the "bad" guy. I can totally see people wanting to stop him if he wants to merge the worlds. People are afraid of such drastic changes and wouldn't believe he was right, or that they'd reach immortality. They might just think he's off his nut, or that it would just help elves.
Meanwhile, the Dalish would think "Well ****, it's Fen'harel! Lavellan, you're supposed to protect us from Fen'harel and you SLEPT WITH HIM? You had ONE job! ONE ****** JOB!"
LOL

Don't feel bad - i'm the worst at theorizing mostly because I am 90% certain we'll get the answers to most if not all the questions in upcoming DLC/next game. So i'm like 'ugh, why expend brain power'. I don't trust the codex entires only by virture of the fact that they are written by in-game authors. This game trains you to distrust that history - or at least tries. So I put in faith in what my PC has done and what she has seen plus the epilogue. So things I know: Solas is alive and owes me answers, Solas was lying/hiding the truth, Solas loved me, Flemeth is/was Mythal, Morrigan drank from the well, Cassandra is a badass and my bff, abelas i love you please find me.
The Solas romance is different from the others. For me it makes sense that they're break up was the locking in moment. It adds another layer of sadness that they're two people who want to be together, but can't.
Presumably it's also to allow for post-game DLC to recognise the Solas romance correctly.
Yup, that's what we all hope for I guess... don't we?

Yes, yes we do.
Dum dee doo. First day of class, professor babbling about the syllabus and I'm just sitting here like, oooh, look at all the Solas conversation I can catch up on.

Spoiler
I know BioWare misses stuff sometimes and makes mistakes. But I think Solas walking away, the romance locking in at that point, has to be deliberate. Wishful thinking I am sure, but it's probably like Fenris breaking it off in DA2. Well except this time we don't have the option to start a romance with someone else once that happens (unless you broke it off with Solas before he could) and I am sure that is for keeping the system side of things conflict free (Keep only recognizes one romance).
Eh this is just my Team Optimism naive guessing.
My Solas shirt just shipped!!! *bounces with excitement*
A few more exquisite Solas gifs. This person does amazing work:

I could see it being a mistake if it was just one romance, but divine cass does this too. I'm sure it's intentional.

Okay, I'll work on it when I get home from work.
Maybe it'll make more sense if I write it out anyway, there are points that are really inconsistent. I'd love some hard core theory tonight though, I've missed that.
This makes sense. Bothers me a teensy bit that we had to get this from developer notes and they didn't make it clear enough in game what's going on with the souls. I mean, if it's important enough to let us know after the game, why not just put it in the game in the first place...? But that's kinda a minor gripe on my part.
This is what bothers me about trusting it. It's in a dev note that was not intended to be seen. It very well may be totally accurate as does makes sense. Flemeth had to die(as the dev notes said her story comes to a head) - for story reasons. Her character popping up was getting kind of ridiculous and it was starting to become less welcoming as the games wore on.
We would have probably gotten all that information in upcoming DLC/games though. So I recognize that information exists but will only trust what played out in the game until told otherwise.

I can somewhat see why they did what they did. It was the end of the game, and a rare scene where our character isn't present to witness any of those events. So they can't really exposit too much about what happened if they intend for the player character to eventually find out about it. You'd run into the trap of explaining to the audience twice.
The other reason is probably to get people talking, and keep people in the dark about what is going on. Particularly with Solas. Most people reacted poorly to the end fight with Corypheus, but very well to the twist ending. So it did seem to hit the right note.
Just a little infuriating when you do want the answers, heh.
