This brings a good point. I don't need to be upset when there were two awesome elves. So 2 out of 3.

Also, Solas seems to know something bad will happen if they do this if you ask me. His reaction to the warden's plan was huge. Goes back to that pillar of the world stuff and why I don't think he wants to tear down the veil.
Haha as much as I love Zev and Fenris, I'd choose Solas twice over before them. I just like his character and complexity so much more. That goes beyond the romance, though.
If I had to choose one of the Dragon Age romances in real life, though, Zevran would be up there. He gets with you, loves you and sticks with you more than any other LI.
Note: I would never romance Solas in real life. Or most of the DA LIs, really. ![]()

Yup. It's like Jack in ME, she's so bad at connecting with people. So I imagine that while all other LI would cope with Shep's death one way or another, Jack would be devastated.
Btw, does anyone has any theories why Solas is so much disapproving joining the Wardens into the Inquisition? I have a feeling he deeply hates them all and he's like: "go, just go (leave and never come back!)". I couldn't think of any good enough reasons. Thoughts?
They act without thinking. They are attempting to manipulate the blight without any real sense of what the consequence of that will be. He believes their order no longer serves a purpose because the lengths they are willing to go to stop a blight are ridiculous. He and Morrigan for that matter seem to infer that there may be other ways to stop it. They are too singleminded as an organization and have this whole 'for the greater good' attitude. It's essentially everything he hates because it's a reminder of the worst of what he and his kind did.

And they're probably responsible for Griffons extinction! Outrageous! jk

I still have faith that there's some around... somewhere...

Awesome uniforms tho

Me too! But, when Solas said with this sad tone in his voice that... that Griffons are no longer...
I mean... he would know if there is any... right?
Ok people...here is a question for all you smarties....Who would win in a solo fight The Dragonborn or the Quizzy?
Lore wise, Dragonborn. I would go into detail about the dovahkiin but it's going to be too long. Gameplay-wise, Dragonborn can carry a quantity of x99 potions per type. Inquisitor could only have less than the digits on her hand. The shout abilities alone surpasses anything an inquisitor could have. Bend Will, Become Ethereal to slip in-between realms, summon a dragon. And if you played the dragonborn dlc, you have the favor of the god of knowledge. What could the inquisitor possibility have to match that. Open portals? OOOooh, so scared.

Actually this is "not good enough" for me
As far I remember he's the only one to greatly disapprove if you join them, besides the fact he's all panicked when he knows the Warden's plan ("Inquisitor you must stop them from this crazy plan" talks etc.). So I think there must be more to it than just disapproval for the organisation.
I had some very vague thoughts about the connection between red lyrium - blight - appearance of Fen'Harel and Corypheus at this very moment - Solas vs Grey Wardens, like: "coincidence? I don't think so". I have a feeling there is much more going on in the background than we see, some "behind the scene" movements and somehow the appearance of Corypheus and red lyrium may mean the end of the blights, as we knew them.
Hence, I think Solas perceives Grey Wardens as a relic of an old time, good tool for the "old blights" but potentially a dangerous or (in best case) useless one for the future challenges to come. If anyone would be interested, I could try to craft some theory out of it.

Read The Last Flight. The newest Dragon Age book. You find out what actually happened with the Griffons.

Solas is, lol, wrong a lot so I wouldn't count them out just yet.
Hopefully it's the original variety we know the grey wardens had. No offense to elf fans, but deer with wings are nowhere near as badass as these guys:

Keeping a bunch of combat trained mages and fighters around that can potentially be controlled by the Big Bad? What could possibly go wrong?
(OK I know nothing actually does but the characters don't know that at the time. Aithne exiles them simply to get them as far away from Coryfish as she can. She doesn't want to find herself having to fight them again later)

Well as far as he and most everyone knows there aren't any more griffons. But after reading a certain book....
Edit: As for the DragonBorn vs Inquisitor question, no contest. Dovahkiin is insanely overpowered.
Now the real question is: Who would in in a fight between the Warden, Hawke, and the Inquisitor? My first instinct would be to say the Inquisitor but the Warden was pretty amazing combat-wise too.

I agree, I had this debate with someone earlier, they insisted Quizzy would win. Needed to hear from you guys i was right lol ![]()

I actually kept them. It made more sense to me that I knew where they were instead of wandering around. Plus I have a massive blind spot for them because of DA:O - I love my Wardens too much. I get why people didn't. It's the only decision we actually disagreed on so I more than made up for my disapproval on that - I appear to be one of the few here that didn't drink from the well. And I just played the game and made the decisions regardless of how he felt so it sort of worked out.

Huh?? What could that person possibly reason for this one-on-one fight to favor the inquisitor?

Well, and all the others in smart Inquisition are "oh, the good Grey Wardens" or mostly approve joining them to the Inquisition to regain respect? :/
Only Solas is the smart one to think: "this may be wrong, since they are controllable". Does not convince me :/
*snip*
Then Solas comes along and gives me a real solution and I wanted to hug him so tight because that made me feel better than this divine faith in me/my character.
Terrwyn definitely appreciated it. She was up there with her closest friend, scheming with him to keep the people's faith in her alive. It was just brilliant.

*waves flag with you* Sealing the romance at the end was very curious to me. It's like...we're tying ourselves to him at his worst. That speaks volumes.

He actually isn't. Almost all your companions greatly disapprove if you become allies with them. Cassandra and Cole especially. Varric will disapprove if you let Hawke die. I think only Blackwall and Sera are ok with it. It's a massively unpopular decision if you keep them around.

I thought most of them disapproved if you kept the Wardens. I remember being annoyed because I couldn't just abandon them but like nobody was happy with me for keeping them around.
I like to think that his telling us about 'barbarian humans, holding tunes no Chantry choir has ever matched' was a sneaky FU to the quality of the Inquisition's singing.
"I must bring back the glory of Arlathan: Barbershop quartets!" The real reason Solas is so cleanly shaven.
*piece randomly clicks into place*
Not to drag this up again, but I would bet good money that the disappearance of the Barindur coincides almost exactly with Solas's first failed rebellion... making that particular story completely heartbreaking. He would have had no choice but to watch helplessly from the Fade as his guided people were massacred.
Do we have any idea where that falls on the timeline?

I still do though. I'm the inquisitor. I'm thinking about the long run and I'm not there to make people happy. The grey wardens are flawed, but necessary, especially since you don't know the nature of Cornflakes' dragon at that point.
If they wanna get mad, then let the bitches be mad, I say.
