I was noodling around with an idea. The fresco that Solas left unfinished after the fight with Cory we assume was for a lack of time. I think it was because he changed his mind on painting whatever it was he was representing. Frescos are not a forgiving medium, if you mess up you start over. Is that a wolf, dragon or griffon standing over the sword/dragon? No matter if you romanced him or not i think he planned to "tell" your character a bit of the truth through that fresco. Just like Solas he backed off at the last momment.

Guys! I started working on something during the last drawing chat thingie! while I should have been studying...

It's been so long since I drew something seriously so I wanted to share my progress with you guys x) Instead of studying...

Spoiler

Basing it of a variant of the lovers tarot. Because WHAT ELSE WOULD IT BE?

Keeping a bunch of combat trained mages and fighters around that can potentially be controlled by the Big Bad?  What could possibly go wrong?

(OK I know nothing actually does but the characters don't know that at the time. Aithne exiles them simply to get them as far away from Coryfish as she can. She doesn't want to find herself having to fight them again later)

I like that both our Aithne's have the same motivations :P

I actually kept them.  It made more sense to me that I knew where they were instead of wandering around.  Plus I have a massive blind spot for them because of DA:O - I love my Wardens too much.  I get why people didn't.  It's the only decision we actually disagreed on so I more than made up for my disapproval on that - I appear to be one of the few here that didn't drink from the well.  And I just played the game and made the decisions regardless of how he felt so it sort of worked out.

I didn't drink from the well either. She just couldn't willingly bind herself that way even though she wanted the knowledge.

Huh?? What could that person possibly reason for this one-on-one fight to favor the inquisitor?

Simply put they thought the Mark could open a rift and drop them into the Fade where they'd be trapped. :huh:

I wanted to keep them during my first playthrough, also because of huge sentiment to GW and

, and I was like: "oh no no no!"! But then Solas as my party member was shaking his head in condemnation (he was really the only one to disapprove so much, as I made Here Lies the Abyss with all other party members - besides Cass yet - in another playthroughs and no one was so displeased on keeping them. A mirror anti-reaction is

Anyway. I was already on "everything for Solas" mood, so I loaded the pre-decision save, thought "forgive me, Hawke" and... well... I let them join the Inquisition in later playthroughs and was surprised how little this actually mattered on overall effect.

Besides the idea of all these elves supposedly being gods and popping up out of the woodworks being kind of lame, I really hope one of the gods aren't actually that...

Sera...

I really just want to tell her to stop talking half the time. I find her background in Denerim to be a bit too specific though, compared to Solas who is vague as all hell.

Oh god.  If that happens with my crazy blood mage Hawke, Thedas is pretty well and truly screwed.

Agreed.  From a theorycrafting perspective, I can kind of see the Sera-as-Andruil thing.  From a meta perspective, I really hope it isn't the case.  I have a love-hate relationship with Sera, but one of the things I consistently like about her is how she keeps the Inquisitor grounded as long as she's around, even if they don't agree.  I feel like having her be Andruil, even unknowingly, compromises a lot of the things I actually like about her character.

I have noticed that the subject of body-hopping souls is a little sensitive for some people, so I tend to skim over the subject but...

My personal theory is that bloodlines are likely to be the key. Descendants of each pantheon member are *potential* vessels for their respective OGS. They all have a small, vague connection to their "hub" OGS through their blood (which we know in turn has a connection to magic/the fade).

The importance of bloodlines can be seen in:

> Mythal's efforts to raise daughters

> King Calenhad's dragon-blooded line

> Every noble of significant magical skill being conveniently related(?) e.g. Trevelyan, Amell, Pavus

> Tevinter noble houses ranking highest among those descended from the "first dreamers"

(I believe this also fits with madrar's theory of magic?)

Spoiler

So regarding Sera, yes I have been convinced that she is connected to Andruil. But I have yet to be convinced of her being more than one of several *potential*  descendant-vessels. From a meta-perspective, it must be nice for the devs to have the option to include Sera in future content *if* she proves a popular character.... or drop her if she doesn't!

We have witnessed Corypheus jumping into a new body upon death. Characters in game speculated that Corypheus put a piece of himself inside of the dragon. Anders shared his body with a spirit. Cole inhabits a recently vacated body. Kieran transfers his "extra" soul to Mythal. We have also witnessed Mythal being.... reborn? from a magical amulet at Sundermount.

> Body-hopping

> Body-sharing

> Soul-splitting

What would be interesting to find out is if the soul-splitting is a duplicating process, or if the soul is broken into two smaller parts each time. And what that would mean, strength-wise, for an OGS.

They act without thinking. They are attempting to manipulate the blight without any real sense of what the consequence of that will be.  He believes their order no longer serves a purpose because the lengths they are willing to go to stop a blight are ridiculous. He and Morrigan for that matter seem to infer that there may be other ways to stop it.  They are too singleminded as an organization and have this whole 'for the greater good' attitude.  It's essentially everything he hates because it's a reminder of the worst of what he and his kind did.

Also their recruitment procedures are not the best... Solas is all for free will and the majority of grey wardens were compelled to join one way or another.

No, it's pure coincidence. But it means fire or firey in... Gaelic I believe, so it's a common pick for Dalish names.

Nymira Exiled the wardens because of two reasons:

1] until Cory is dead {really dead} she couldn't trust them not to be controlled again.

2] After the events of Adament, the wardens needed to rebuild. so by exiling them, she is giving them a chance.

Sorry, sidenote. I just love how Corypheus' name is becoming something like Benedict Cumberbatch. Coryfish, cornflakes, coryfushit...etc. We all know what you mean even if it's not anything close to the real thing, much like Buckingham Candysnack.. Makes me giggle.

I thought most of them disapproved if you kept the Wardens. I remember being annoyed because I couldn't just abandon them but like nobody was happy with me for keeping them around.

I sent them away with my Male Lavellan and got:

Dorian Disapproves

Cassandra Greatly Approves

Iron Bull Disapproves

Blackwall Greatly Disapproves

Sera Disapproves

Cole Greatly Approves

I don't know whether Solas Approves or Greatly Approves because I had the full approval for him at this point so it didn't show.

But yeah, in my first run of this game where I kept them (and what I will be doing again with my FemLavellan rerun because shes a Warden fangirl thanks to the Dalish HoF) I had Solas, Cole and Cass on my team so it felt like I was making the worst decision. Turns out I just picked the worst team for that decision as the are the only ones that disapprove of keeping them.

Solas definitely has Warden issues. I'm currently running with him and Blackwall on my team (trying to give the man a chance because I feel like I've decided to hate him without giving him much of one. I am enjoying his banter with Sera), and he has brought up Warden Q's with him a few times. Suggesting that killing Archdemons isn't going to solve the Blight problem and whatnot. I seem to remember his argument in the Fade was that they were far too dangerous now. There is also his hissy fit prior to going on that mission where he's all 'YOU CANNOT LET THEM GO KILLING THE OLD GODS'

That took me by surprise when it first happened :D

Fenedhis lasa is a curse but the first phrase "Ar dirthan'as ir elgara, ma'sula e'var vhenan" is unknown.

I'm not really sure about the first part "Ar dirthan'as ir elgara", it's something about knowledge and spirits but I haven't seen the 'as suffix before. My best guess is that it's something along the lines of "I have gained much knowledge [of our language] from spirits."

"ma'sula e'var vhenan" probably either means something like "listen with your elven blood" or "I speak through/from the heart of our people."

*cracks knuckles*

"Ar dirthan'as ir elgara"

Ar = personal pronoun; I, me

dirth = tell, speak (indicating knowledge or secrets)

an = suffix indicating place or location

'as = ?

ir = very, more

elgara --> elgar = spirit

Okay, so the 'as connected after dirthan ("speak" + "place") and the extra a after elgar are unaccounted for, but for the most part we can crack the rest of the sentence. My best guess is "I speak of a place very spiritual."

"ma'sula e'var vhenan"

Ma = my, mine, you

sula = not sure. Sounds similar to sulahn, which means sing.

e' = ?

var = our

vhenan = heart.

So a few more minor words unaccounted for, but it seems to start with "my song" or "your song," and end with "our hearts."

My best guess? He's probably saying, "I speak of/to a place very spiritual, my/your song [in] our hearts."

This is sort of supported by what he says after Sera answers insolently. (He was probably appealing to her elven heart/spirit, hoping she would feel at least somewhat moved even if she didn't understand it, then she spat in  his face. Honestly, I'd curse at her after that too.)

  • Solas: Ar dirthan'as ir elgara, ma'sula e'var vhenan.
  • Sera: Pppbbthh!
  • Solas: Excuse me?
  • Sera: Excuse yourself. Whatever you said and what I did, same difference to me.
  • Solas: I'd hoped, well, our people can sometimes feel the rhythm of the language despite lacking the vocabulary.
  • Sera: Uh huh? Know what else is good? Words that mean things. Like these. Words.
  • Solas: Fenedhis lasa.
  • Sera: Pppbbthh!

If you knew, knew what the bluebirds sang at you, you
would never sing along
Cast them out cause this is our culture
These new flocks are nothing but vultures

- Fall Out Boy, Novocaine

This...strangely fits Solas perspective about the dalish culture and Lavellan very well. As if he's trying to convince her that she's different from them and confident that she could share his ideals. That the dalish got a lot of stuff wrong (mainly things about the Dread Wolf himself, of course). Man, the rest of the song doesn't really fit, but I really want to draw a comic based on these few lines now.

On topic: Lavellan names...my current Lavellan's name is 'Lenalas' - "child earth", as in "child of the earth". It fits her. She's a warrior, after all.

Wait.. can you determine the size of the rift you open? Gameplay-wise, the rifts that you open up barely harm the living enemies and doesn't tug them like it would a demon.

Huh, it seems my Lavellan is the only one, who thought, that Morrigan drinking is not an option. From her perspective it was a rare opportunity to actually do something as a Keeper regarding her people's history. She wouldn't miss this one, Dalish are so touchy about collecting elven long lost knowlege.

He actually isn't.  Almost all your companions greatly disapprove if you become allies with them. Cassandra and Cole especially. Varric will disapprove if you let Hawke die.  I think only Blackwall and Sera are ok with it.   It's a massively unpopular decision if you keep them around.

I thought most of them disapproved if you kept the Wardens. I remember being annoyed because I couldn't just abandon them but like nobody was happy with me for keeping them around.

Just checked Youtube, as I started to had doubts. From the film I saw

:

Greatly disapproves: Solas, Cole

Disaproves: Cassandra

Approves: Dorian

Greatly approves: Sera

I think Solas and Cole dis/approvement is shown, even if you don't have them in the party during the mission. If the most spiritual guys are so against Wardens joining the Inq, I think there is more to it than not being fans of the organisation.

I have a feeling they both feel/know that Wardens may make worse something which is bad already and I think this relates directly somehow to Cory-red lurium-red lyrium carrying blight discoveries.
