Noo, no worries! The worst is over  Mom had a stroke about 2 months ago, so I'm just down here helping out dad for a bit. I was going to be visiting either way, so yeah. Not a bad thing!

 

I grew up in the Roseburg area, but went to school up at UO for a bit. When I was a kid we also lived over in Bend. I love Oregon! If there were any good gaming industry jobs (what the hubs does) we'd move back in a heartbeat. I miss the rain and grey skies xD

What a small world, I just moved from Bend back to the Portland area. (Well, at least my immediate family did, I was elsewhere for school) During my job searches it looks like there was at least one game studio in Bend. But it's just one and, well, I understand the need to move where the jobs are. I'm actually not prepared for rain and grey skies, but that's because I've always been in the pacific northwest area. I'm just sick of my vitamin D deficiency and that wet-cold you can get in the winter.

Well, I'm glad at least the visit looks like it's taking a turn for the better~! Yes yes?

This wait is even more tedious since every other LI has basically been announced, anyone else agree?  I found it more bearable when everyone had a big 'ol question mark above their heads.  I always troll the forums while at work and they've been going...so...slowly.

I do agree.  It used to be fun speculating who it might be and how that would look... but now, there's just those two slots, and only four characters to fill them... So the people who got what they wanted get to celebrate, be all excited, and plan out their characters... and the rest of us are,like, the last to get picked for the team, you know?  And although the majority of the fans have been sweet, there's been moments were things have gotten really tense. For example, I used to love going into the romance thread and join (or even start) the occasional debate - but lately every time I go in there it's a whole lot of arguing, and the number of rude responses and people jumping all over people for opinions they don't like (where it's not necessarily deserved) seems to have gotten worse.

Wow! So many East Coasters, but no one near me. I do like the idea of doing a mini-con though! Looks like if we do we should set it in the southernish states so as to inconvenience less folk. (If I am recalling correctly there are less of us in the north? Or is it more an even split?)

 

If it's an even split we could hit Maryland? There's a nice campground called Elkneck, lots of pretty views and hiking trails and such.

 

@Karm, I think Virginia is considered South. (Though it's in the Northern part of the South and certainly is not considered what Americans call the Deep South.)

Awww.    Iron Bull was my #1 hope so I partied with the rest, but yea - it seems with fewer slots people became more vicious towards the candidates they didn't want.  Now all of a sudden Solas is ugly, or too old, etc etc, way more personal attacks than you saw when the LI slots were still open.  No need to bash a character or the fans just because you'd prefer something else, ya know?

And he has good posts. I like reading through them to catch up on what I missed, but I always sort of LOL when I see one with my timezone stamp of 5:30am on it and I'm all like... wow, Allan, I woke up an hour later to start getting ready for the workday. 
 
 

I was just wondering how many of you write fanfiction and are going to write fanfiction about Solas and in which language?
 
I was just thinking  should I write fanfiction in english but english is not my native language so I'm not sure is it a good idea. I have never written anything and I'm not sure is it a good idea to even start writing. Well I guess I don't have to publish it to anywhere

 
I have just recently started to get back into writing fanfiction. I was really gung-ho on a DAO fic and a DA2 short story, but then went on a 2+ year hiatus after my mother's death because my writing totally dried up in the aftermath of that. It's only just now starting to itch me again, so I dipped a toe back in earlier with 2 parts of a 3-part Solas/Inquisitor short story (Links here: Part 1 and here Part 2 )
 
Chances are I could possibly write more fanfiction about DAI after the game comes out, but I'm more keen to try and get back on my DAO and DA2 fics and get them done first. Those readers have been left hanging for so long and I feel really bad about it.
 
I write in English because it's my only language. All that Spanish and French I learned in school never gets used, so it's basically all gone now.
 
If you feel like writing, you should definitely write! You don't have to share it if you don't want to or feel uncomfortable, but I find the act itself fun.
