The book cover does seem the wrong color though.

 

What I don't understand about some of the fan art is why people draw a Solas... with hair... and a lot of muscles... and a different face... and atypical facial expressions... if I don't like Solas the way he is, why draw him at all?

At least people try when drawing humanoids! nobody seems to give a crap about enviroments! ):<

To bad. You should really give it a chance. I prefer fantasy to Sci-fi, but I just love the ME - serie. 

The story in the first one are the best of them, but gameplay wise I'm with Kissiebear, the others are better.

I'm sure that if you just get through the first part you'll like it too.

ME1 is NOT only PC - you can get the whole trilogy on PS3/360.  It was initially released as PC only, but after the 2nd or 3rd game came out they Microsoft Studios no longer had the rights or it got bought so EA was able to release the whole thing on all consoles.  

 

It was PC and 360. Microsoft published it while Bioware was still owned by Elevation Partners. Once Pandemic and Bioware were bought by EA they...

 

You know what I'm not going to get into explaining that hulabaloo. Mass Effect 1 was originally an XBox 360 exclusive. It sucked that it was. It's probably Bono's fault.

I do not rant about the platform people play on. There is no superiority in prefering a particular platform. I really don't care about such things.

No it was originally made for the Xbox 360 and (badly) ported to PC.

 

Face it, the inventory system sucks.  =x

 

Edit:  And I love the ME series.  I agree that gameplay was better in ME2 and ME3.  Also, Solas.

Bald has nothing to do with it. And Bald men can be hot. Its a matter of personality not looks.  

I honestly didn't figure out much spoilers about the game before the release, so I hadn't decided who to romance when I started out with my first playthrough. Wanted to wait and see who I fell for. 

As I said before I actually begun with a human rogue, but didn't finish the game due to falling in love with Solas and starting all over with my Lavellan _{(couldn't romance him with that character, as you all likely understand)}

Well...I've never really liked bald men that much...though Patrick Stewart is pretty sexy..IMO..hehehe.  It just depends..many men (or women) can be sexy if they have a great personality.

I think it was more than just being Bald. Lets be real, Solas appearance wise is abnormal.

 

I can't speak for ladies, but I think what makes him attractive really is his intelligence and his overall manner. I know a few people who I won't mention that thought he wasn't attractive at all until after the game came out, which further supports that idea.

I used to only play PC games..until my now ex-husband got me into consoles..  I actually like playing these kinds of games on consoles better. I don't like having to upgrade my computer or buy a new one every few years just so I can play a new game.

Exception. I still like hair but I can get pass it for personality. He's a smart-ass but smooth. I only romanced him to gain lore, and i did with the vallasin, didn't expect myself to get pass his looks.

 

edit: also he has a long face so disproportionate at a glance.

I play on PC only.  I'm not a console fan and I hate it when games are console exclusive.  However, some people like consoles better and they have their reasons.  I try to stay out of the console/PC war.

 

The PC port of ME wasn't particularly great.  I've seen worse but still.  I can generally get used to annoying controls if the story is good enough and ME1's story is definitely good enough.

Honestly the controls for ME aren't that great on PC.  And I say that as a PC player.  I've played the trilogy on Xbox and PC.  I prefer playing them on PC.  But the first game, bah the controls sucks.

 

I don't see how that makes you a dying breed.  People have their preferences.  I used to be a console player when I was younger.  When I switched to PC gaming I never looked back.  I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 that collect dust.  Oh and I am "old" too.

 

Anyways Solas:

 

I don't look at video game characters the same way I would actual people in real life.  With that said personality > looks in both cases.  Still not much into the whole bald thing, but I love Solas anyways.

I did not romance Solas. However, not once did I start a relationship because of the guy's looks. Really, that's secondary. Can look good and bore you to hell, can look mediocre and blow your mind. I assume, Solas is like that to his fans.

To be honest I never gave Solas' appearance much thought one way or the other.  I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to character appearances - I saw a couple screenshots of companions like Dorian and Vivienne.  I usually play human first so I thought I'd start with the Cullen romance.  I was never a "fangirl" but he's a familiar character and I liked his development through DA2 and that he had the spine to stand up to Meredith.  I always figured I'd do an elf for the 2nd playthrough to romance Solas.

 

Then I met him in game, talked to him and was like ... why can't I romance this guy on a human female?  He's awesome.  What really gets me is the voice actor though.  He did a great job.  Often, it's the voice that makes the character for me and not so much the appearance.  Like Alistair.
