I've got a question, just out of curiosity.

A lot of people weren't interested in Solas prior to the release 'cause "eww, bald!"

For those who felt this way and romanced Solas, anyway, do you find yourself now open to the idea that, "you know what? Bald men can be hot, too!" or is Solas the exception?

I think what did it for me is that I like Solas' personality. He's a mystery and he's interesting. I only found this out while playing the game. He was a pleasant surprise (I can also say the same of the rest of the companions). I don't mind bald men, when a guy is hot he's hot but Solas definitely has made me more open minded lmao

You ladies are really into Solas huh? There's hope yet for us hipster nerds.

Every time Solas says "dreams" or "in the Fade" he really means "I did it before it was cool".

Unfortunately I think regardless of race the Inquisitor will be counted as an Andrastian prophet who brought change to the world in the Maker's name.

Time to write a book and set the record straight, then. "I Have My Own ****** Gods", by Revas Lavellan.

Wait. What am I missing right here? I never actually turned in the 'Fairbanks Trust' quest. What is the revelation?

Also, is the third Solas quest worth doing? He's left the party already on my main playthrough, and I can't find another elven artifact on my human run to save my life.

Andrastians have ONE god. The elves have a whole pantheon. Just who are the ones limiting themselves? :P

The third Solas quest is just there for approval. You fight a high level rift.  That's about it. It's not crucial or interesting.

What the hell is that and where can I get one.

Goats are amazing in so many ways.

And yea, I'm surprised no one said anything about woolsley. I didn't know what it was until recently when I joked about killing it and people said go ahead.

Always kill talking animals in dragon age.

Especially that ****** Shifty Cow in Mass Effect. Fucker stole my money when my back was turned!

Beautiful picture! And a great conversation-starter:

Everyone: In your headcanon, if not forced to wear the Inquisition uniform/banner, how do you imagine your Inquisitor dressed for the Orlesian Ball?

Something she can walk and fight easily in. I like to think that Vivienne took Terrwyn to her seamstress for this. They'd all figure fighting would occur at the ball, so it would appear to be a full dress, transparent so you can see her legs, but she can tuck it a certain way so her legs can move about freely. She'd be barefoot, her back bare with a high collar - I want halla horns (not real) to be featured somehow.

I've thought about this too much. XD

So... can I get your opinions on where the Forgotten Ones stood in the times of Arlathan? There seems to be a consensus that the Creators generally ruled things, so where do Amaris and Co. come in? Are they equals in a separate kingdom? Are they a subversive group? Are they even elves at all?

I have a pet theory that Fen'harel acted as a go-between for the pantheon and a rebel group of "gods". Then both sides start destroying Arlathan, Mythal gets murdered, and Fen'harel throws an epic bitchfit and locks both groups away. Then he takes a nap.

I think the Dalish worship of Fen'harel must be very complicated. They probably resent him for locking away their other gods. They most certainly fear his power. I wonder if they're grateful he sealed the forgotten ones away (they don't sound very pleasant according to dalish myth)? I also wonder if they have prayers to him, as conceivably he's the only god left free to ACT on their prayers (and thus bring about any kind of result).

Not sure about the Forgotten Ones, but it's widely theorized (or do we have concrete evidence? I'm not sure, but would love to see it if so) that they are extremely powerful demons - and that we've met one in each game, though under different names - Imshael being one of them. We really don't know much about them. though, other than the fact that they were considered evil, and that only Fen'Harel could walk among them. As far as I know, Andruil was the only other member of the pantheon to enter the Void they inhabited, and it drove her mad.

Regarding the worship of Fen'Harel - it's interesting, because although he's this feared being, they still have statues of him and leave offerings - but, the statue is always kept outside of the camp, looking away, and the offerings are meant to appease rather than honor him. If I remember correctly, he's a protector, of sorts. Sort of a like a gargoyle - a monstrous being whose purpose is to scare off evil spirits. Still, you don't want the Dread Wolf to catch your scent, or turn his eyes upon you. You won't see elves honoring him with vallaslin, and the tales usually warn people not to ask for his help, since it always seems to come at great cost, or he'll find some way to betray you even as he keeps his promise.

Solas used eyes to represent the Fade in one of his frescos, so I think that signifies the Black City within the Fade.  The entire structure there is really interesting though.  The Black City itself seems to exist in its own sphere, which has a space-like quality...the void?  My own theory is that the void and the Black City are at the center of Thedas, so this fits really well...

Yes I was thinking the same thing this morning when someone posted it, but wasn't sure what to make of it. I was thinking more about the floating rocks, and wondering if the real city is underground, does that mean the planet Thedas is on is...not completely solid, but much more hollow, or at least with an expansive interior, so that there would be less gravity there? I was thinking how the dwarves have their own veil, of sorts, to separate them from the sky. Why are they are afraid of falling up into the sky? And why do they make rocks float when they dream? *random thoughts*

I've noticed that too.   Very interesting.  Solas does tend to add a lot of wolf imagery into his paintings - it could be connected to that.  Or maybe his spirit is the black wolf and that his representation of himself in the Fade? (either because he was there with Quizzy or he's just expressing how he would feel in the Fade.)

Lol - I forget how fast these threads move :P

In any case, I love all of these theories - I've been combing the wiki/forums for as much Solas/Dread Wolf as I can get - so all of this makes for some great content to consider.

Thanks all!

The Dalish honor Fen'Harel, in their own way. Gaider talked about this a bit: "You have to remember that the Dalish honor Fen’Harel just as they do the rest of the elven pantheon — they simply do so differently. Statues/shrines to the other elven gods would be found within the clan’s camp, while a statue of Fen’Harel would be placed outside the camp, facing away. There’s no point in lugging around that statue with them if it wasn’t still a way of honoring him.

"Work backwards, and you’ll see a version of that in the Dales when the elves still ruled there. Monuments to Fen’Harel would still exist, and would be far more common outside of the settlements than within them."

According to Merrill, the Dalish don't really know all the facts - who was right, who was wrong, or even who started the war. It's hard to say what many might think about the Forgotten Ones, because they're a bit of an enigma. Merrill says, "Long ago, there were two clans of gods: the Forgotten Ones and that of the People. The Forgotten Ones preyed upon us. And one god who was neither: Fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf. He was kin to the Creators, and in the old days helped them in their endless war against the Forgotten Ones."

Interestingly, Merrill admits the Dalish don't know why the Creators and the Forgotten Ones were fighting, as well as how they don't know all their names. "No one knows. We barely even remember all their names, let alone who struck the first blow, or who was wrong. Fen'Harel was clever: he could walk among both clans of gods without fear, and both believed he was one of them. He went to each side and told them the other had forged a terrible weapon: a blade that would end the war. He told the Creators it was forged in the heavens, and the Forgotten Ones that it was hidden in the abyss. And when the gods went seeking it, he sealed them both in their realms forever."

Given some of the revelations from Inquisition, I wonder if the Forgotten Ones were opposed to the status quo of Elvhenan? It might explain why both felt that Solas was one of them, if he was akin to something of a 'double agent' and could walk among both of them - the rulers, and those who wanted to usurp them. When Solas does triumphantly return, I hope Lavellan can gleam some more information about Arlathan and Elvhenan.

Okay. So far I've seen Solas dump the Inquisitor twice, and have cried twice. Need to watch it again. Gotta desensitize myself.  :pinched:

I think Solas would make for an antagonist of epic proportions. I'm talking Loghain tier (I say this as a Loghain fan). I talking Charles Xavier (Inquisitor) vs Erik Lehnsherr (Solas). Or Hal Jordan vs Thaal Sinestro.

When the game came out and I saw the list of potential romances I didnt find anyone appealing and was actually lamenting that this time we females have been given limited options.
Rolled an elf and was proven wrong :P I still dont like Blackwall. Cullen reminds me of Alistair. But Solas tops them all xD

I am basically of the same opinion. I feel like Cullen is like a more intellectual Alistair. Blackwall is rather dull. Solas trumps all. Which I guess makes sense. Solas does like to be the best at everything.

Well, except Garrus "Turian Batman" Vakarian.  But Garrus had 3 games to kick ass at Shepard's side, so that's a bit unfair  B)

I was wondering..the spirit of wisdom and the nightmare demon are shown to speak in ancient elvish. Do all spirits and demons speak the elven language?
Cole never speaks elvish even rudimentary elvish.
Heh it would be so funny if Cole suddenly declared Solas is actually Fen'harel.

In so far as the Dragon Age franchise goes, though. Solas is the ruler of hearts. But I agree, if we're going game crossover, Garrus is definitely competition.

Um....I feel like that would be the absolute worst thing to say to a Dalish elf. Considering their ancestors fought to the death rather than convert to andraste, I think it would be a really really insensitive thing to say. I mean, who's gods were banned and reviled? Not the maker. There's plaques all over the dales (landmarks) gloatingly celebrating "bringing the light of the maker to the wicked heathens" during the 2nd exalted march.

So...yeah. I lost a lot of respect for Cassandra when she asked why my elf couldn't just add the maker to the pantheon. (Don't worry, she made up for it by being awesome in other ways).
