Oh, are you trying to freak us out with "ZOMG Solas might have been Mythal's lover??"

Cause, that bit of furor happened like 500 pages ago lol.

Imagine another Thane type scene...as he says to Lavellan "You remind me so much of Mythal"

Lavellan : "Not again!!"

Enantiomorph son. Enantiomorphs everywhere!!

Connobar was jealous lord dude. Osen was her 'real' husband. And of course we've got Flemeth.

Now apply that to Elgar'nan, Fen'Harel, and Mythal.

So...  Elgar'nan wanted to marry Fen'Harel, so he had Mythal killed.  It all adds up.

But seriously, yeah, Elgar'nan is my main suspect.

No. I'm thinking Mythal was killed because of an argument between Fen'Harel and Elgar'nan.

Which is why I said it was a theory. I've seen it speculated that they are the same thing, but with different names... As its been theorized that the Old Gods are the Elven Pantheon.

That theory is that the old gods are the forgotten ones, not the main elven pantheon.

It seems more than a theory at this point to me. I'd bet bank on it. Or my left nut.

Now I want the two of them to meet and discuss their respective loved ones.

Solas: ...and then I had to end it with her.

Garrus:  No offense, but you're a dumb***.

Solas: I'm sorry?

Garrus:  Never mind whatever you're up to.  You're dating a heroine.  My girlfriend has punched fully armored men off of high-rises and headbutted krogan.  I'd hate to see what she'd do if I really pissed her off.

Solas: Ah.  I see.  Well, the Inquisitor does have a Fade rift key in her hand...and she's killed a fair share of dragons.

Garrus:  I don't even know what that means, but you're in a world of trouble.

Solas: I--

Garrus: Go.  Apologize.  Now.  Your internal organs will thank me later.

Omg I heard that in their voices and it was brilliant. Oh Garrus - you'd never leave me. <3 <3 <3

Possibly, but I'm not sure how involved Fen'Harel was to begin with, since he apparently had the trust of both the Creators and Forgotten Ones, enough to trick them into being locked away.  I think Mythal's murder was what prompted Fen'Harel into whatever he did next.  But I have the suspicion that Dirthamen and possibly Ghilan'nain had something to do with why Mythal was killed.  Dirthamen is a huge hidden presence in the game, and I think it was for a reason.  And that statue of Dirthamen in Flemythal's Fade with the bleeding and the sword in his back probably means something.

I guess nobody should be surprised that players found Solas attractive considering how many of us seemed to have gone for the alien space raptor boyfriend. What's pointy ears and a lack of hair compared to molecular chirality and mandibles?

I never really understood the uproar over the Fen'Harel was Mythal's lover theory. First off - Flemeth is not Mythal. She is a human woman, only the most recent in a long line of human women, who carries a piece of Mythal's spirit in her. It's not like Flemeth would literally be his ex - if she were, her mother, grandmother, and so on would also be his exes.
...
So when I put it like that is it is kind of, um, awkward and gross  I mean, you can add Morrigan to the list for added fun! But still, not the same person, and anyway that was, what, 6000 years ago? I mean, I get that they're still friends and all, but I'm thinking they've moved on. I mean, are you bothered by the idea that the people you date in real life have had relationships, even people they loved, before you?

Anyway, they may have been lovers and it would make sense as to why Mythal would have been drawn to the original Flemeth. But I did see her relationship to Solas as a motherly one. Especially since the way they come together in that scene reminds me if that story about one of Mythal's sons... I forget which, or what the context is, but he approaches her, upset, and she reaches out to comfort him. Again, don't remember the story, and I'm on my phone so I can't look it up easily, but the image stuck with me as similar.

Is that the theory now? Ghuh. I can't keep track... Nerd status, revoked. In all seriousness though, I have seen both. I remember seeing something too about the Old God souls potentially being part of a larger whole. Or keys. Or constructs.

One thing I do find interesting, that I don't remember being touched on (though to be fair, sometimes I skim the long posts when catching up on the thread so I could've missed it) is why the Blights keep getting shorter and shorter... Or rather, why the Archdemons become weaker/easier to kill. The simple explanation is that with every Blight, it gets easier as Thedas gets more familiar with combating them... But i feel like there must be more to it.

My friend tweeted me the link to the pictures while I was writing for the next chapter in my story...and this was pretty much my reaction.

It used to be we tried to be respectful of everyone's opinions and not argue for the sake of arguing. But not everyone who currently frequents the thread feels that is a worthy goal, so here we are. Same as every other thread. Thankfully there's several places for members to talk outside of here, so really, it's all good in the end. Plus we have a chart so I suppose there may be forts and cats soon.

I've run across several people outside the BSN now who have said they've decided to stay away from the Solas thread now because of that kind of stuff. The whole arguing for the sake of arguing, and others being dismissive of those who want the environment to stay welcoming. This thread doesn't feel anywhere near as friendly as it used to for me. That's probably why I haven't been keeping up with it like I was. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.

Haven't posted an invite in awhile, but to any new faces, feel free to join the Devoted to Solas Chatroom.

Link is in my signature as well as the first post of this thread. ;)

Can't speak for the others but this one is simple. Mary Sue! To the rescue!

As for the old gods, I remember that theory, and I don't know if they're a key or not, but the old elven text does make it possible that they're pillars to the world.

http://dragonage.wik...d_Elven_Writing

And the other fade text makes it sound like their souls are still around, maybe even in the fade:

  • WE ARE HERE
  • WE HAVE WAITED
  • WE HAVE SLEPT
  • WE ARE SUNDERED
  • WE ARE CRIPPLED
  • WE ARE POLLUTED
  • WE ENDURE
  • WE WAIT
  • WE HAVE FOUND THE DREAMS AGAIN
  • WE WILL AWAKEN

Wow really? In relation to that small minor discrepancy over the dalish and maker faith? That was weak compared to the other arguments earlier.

People need to grow a pair or something, tbh. Unless arguing amongst each other was okay when it was just chicks and when it was about if Solas banged Lavellan?

What are people complaining about, that the thread's not like an elementary school classroom?

So...where exactly did Jellobell and all the other unicorns go? I've been looking for all the tinfoil theories. (And getting my unicorn status revoked, I guess.)

I really don't want anybody to feel unwelcome in the thread because of me. This is supposed to be a safe space to handle all the Solas feelz.

The Dalish honor Fen'Harel, in their own way. Gaider talked about this a bit: "You have to remember that the Dalish honor Fen’Harel just as they do the rest of the elven pantheon — they simply do so differently. Statues/shrines to the other elven gods would be found within the clan’s camp, while a statue of Fen’Harel would be placed outside the camp, facing away. There’s no point in lugging around that statue with them if it wasn’t still a way of honoring him.

"Work backwards, and you’ll see a version of that in the Dales when the elves still ruled there. Monuments to Fen’Harel would still exist, and would be far more common outside of the settlements than within them."

According to Merrill, the Dalish don't really know all the facts - who was right, who was wrong, or even who started the war. It's hard to say what many might think about the Forgotten Ones, because they're a bit of an enigma. Merrill says, "Long ago, there were two clans of gods: the Forgotten Ones and that of the People. The Forgotten Ones preyed upon us. And one god who was neither: Fen'Harel, the Dread Wolf. He was kin to the Creators, and in the old days helped them in their endless war against the Forgotten Ones."

Interestingly, Merrill admits the Dalish don't know why the Creators and the Forgotten Ones were fighting, as well as how they don't know all their names. "No one knows. We barely even remember all their names, let alone who struck the first blow, or who was wrong. Fen'Harel was clever: he could walk among both clans of gods without fear, and both believed he was one of them. He went to each side and told them the other had forged a terrible weapon: a blade that would end the war. He told the Creators it was forged in the heavens, and the Forgotten Ones that it was hidden in the abyss. And when the gods went seeking it, he sealed them both in their realms forever."

Given some of the revelations from Inquisition, I wonder if the Forgotten Ones were opposed to the status quo of Elvhenan? It might explain why both felt that Solas was one of them, if he was akin to something of a 'double agent' and could walk among both of them - the rulers, and those who wanted to usurp them. When Solas does triumphantly return, I hope Lavellan can gleam some more information about Arlathan and Elvhenan.

i need moar... where to find this info

The mood in here was starting to go downhill (for me, anyway) several hundred pages before you decided you'd like to hang out in here more.

And no, the stuff I saw people complaining about was the off-topic arguments and the more raunchy stuff some of us were getting into a while back (which was mostly solved by people agreeing to put the more NSFW stuff under spoilers or directly linking to it in the case of fanworks, which people should have been doing anyway, because forum rules).
