I've noticed that a lot of people in this thread have like the tolerance level of saints.  If someone starts acting blatantly insensitive, everyone just responds in such a calm and collected manner.  Do you know how rare that is?  Like all of you in this thread need to reproduce.  A lot.  The world needs more people like you in it.

You people restore my faith in humanity.  Don't change.

EDIT from the future: You'll note I didn't include myself into this category....  Lest I seem like a huge hypocrite in the up-coming pages.    The irony.  Ir'abelas.

Ah okay, I got super worried there for a moment. Thought we had a thermonuclear thread meltdown and I was terrified. I love this thread and it's personality was such that I felt super comfortable and safe to quit lurking and participate. I'd hate to lose this thread - it felt like a safe haven for dalish/ elven theorycrafting, Solas character discussion, and all around fandom sharing confetti.

Part of the problem might be that there hasn't been any solid news of future content yet, so it's a little harder to find topics to talk about. We had a lot of fun stuff in a row like the Patrick Weekes interview and Sashimi's Well of Sorrows backwards messages, but lately things have been a bit more quiet.

Even though there are disagreements from time to time, I don't think anyone here has purposely tried to offend anyone else. It's just hard to read tone on the internet. :) I enjoy this thread greatly and am constantly amazed by all the talented artists and smart theorycrafters we have hanging out here. I seriously hope everyone sticks around.

As long as the blanket fort remains intact to comfort the newly brokenhearted, I think we're good.

I've been having a weird glitch all night where if I use leaping shot, even on a perfectly flat surface, my elf lady bounces 2 or 3 times the distance she is supposed to go. Or she'll go straight up and then take fall damage without actually going laterally. Or she will go the correct distance, but end up in the air instead of taking a normal arc. She's kicked Solas in the face a few times doing that I think.

Hooray! Moon physics!

Solas: *grumbles* This is what I get for dumping her.

Mierin: *evil smile*

LOL! This reminds me of the time I was fighting one of those dragons at the top of one of the arenas in Emprise du Lion. My Lavellan used Leaping Shot and she skyrocketed all the way out of the arena! Her teammates were still battling the dragon so I had to make her climb all the way back up. xD

I love that glitch... Fun times!

I did that once. Except everyone else was dead and I fell so far out of bounds that the battle reset. And the %$@# dragon was almost dead.

Next time we ran up that way and Solas started blathering about his stupid artifact I wanted to tell him where to stick it.

That's definitely part of it. Seriously, we were left high and dry. We commit to the romance, he breaks up with us. He freakin' LEAVES, and that's it.

No closure. No explaination. No real way of knowing if things will turn out. We have to sit here and hope and theorize until something happens.

It's like...we are standing on the precipice, our foot hanging over the edge just enough to decide whether or not to fall with him or step back.

OH, and if anyone wants to see the size of the necklace I linked on Etsy a few days ago:

Ouch! That's a bummer.  I wouldn't be happy either if the battle reseted while I was battling a dragon. Especially after battling with it for so long and having it nearly dead.

EDIT: BTW I'm already a few chapters in TME and I must say I'm really loving Felassan!  :)

Found this poem on a Solavellan fanmix:

Understand, I'll slip quietly
away from the noisy crowd
when I see the pale
stars rising, blooming, over the oaks.

I'll pursue solitary pathways
through the pale twilit meadows,
with only this one dream:
You come too.

If only. *sigh*

This thread has definitely changed, though I wouldn't necessarily say for the worse? I've been here a long while and compared to most of the BSN, this place is still incredibly civil and on topic.

I think it's mostly that way back when, it was rare to have any sort of disagreement in here. Not even the kind that involved civil arguments. We were even discussing similar things to now, including more NSFW topics, though we were careful not to go too far. Not that there was any real art or fic to share back then, since the large chunk of Solas fans there are now hadn't yet jumped on board and we knew almost nothing about him. Somehow we rarely ever went too far or made someone uncomfortable so nobody ever really had to talk boundaries or start up disagreements.

Now....not so much with the lack of arguments. But there are more people than before in here, for obvious reasons, and a lot of new faces too. Communities change. I still find this place amazingly civil and amazingly on-topic. Not quite like before (though we did have a few bad moments here and there) but hey, we were scrounging for scraps back then and we had to be kind of jovial about it all.

You know what? I think it's the lack of Mr. Schumacher's presence and his masterful drawings since spring last year.  :D

People might just feel comfortable here. It's not like you can discuss the elves or the Dalish in the rest of the public forum without it going down in a blaze, and I think a lot of people find this to be a safe place where they can share their love of elven mysteries, the city elves, the Dalish, or a myriad of other elven facets with people who might relate to them. Different people have attracted Solas - people who, like me, befriended him as a pro-Dalish Lavellan, or the multitude of others who romanced him and saw a very different, more intimate side to him.

I think you're confusing Dalish with Elvhen. One was an Empire that spanned a continent, the other is a disparate group of elves that can't agree with each other on more than three things and venerate a bastardization of the Elvhen from the excerpts of misconstrued lore they managed to cobble together. Don't do that.

I'm a human, so I let her drink because she's more knowledgeable.

I'm going to do it myself just because, but my motivations would be paranoia, which does work after her behavior, my character's background I wrote up, which has him curious of elves since very young and he even had an elven lover before the conclave. City elf that escaped and ran off to Dalish from Templars. And finally, a desire to use said knowledge personally to help Dalish. I honestly don't think I'd trust Morrigan to do that. She seems more concerned to have the knowledge for her own reasons.

No, Lobsel never said the Dalish or Elvhen were one and the same. You pulled that accusation out of nowhere.

And I think you also proved Lobsel's point about how unsafe it often feels to take a positive Dalish stance in the forums. You don't have to like the Dalish, but please don't jump down the throats of those who do, or take the opportunity to relentlessly bash them. That's Sera behavior and we're in the Solas thread. Solas doesn't like the Dalish either, but even he can be civil or admit to a virtue or two when the occasion calls for it.

We all like Solas here, so let's focus on that and not this.

in my first playthrough I allowed her to take it because I felt like it was too much to take in for my elf. I imagined her going insane and being unable to close her eyes at night for a good night sleep, but then I realized that she deserved (her people) to know more about what was lost to them. I wondered if she would discover what Solas really is if she drinks from the well, or is Mythal's knowledge of him not included in the well?

Well, the servants of the gods were allowed to use this well, and I doubt Mythal and the rest would want them to have sensitive knowledge about them, even if they are bound to them. Can never be too careful.

When was I ever uncivil? Are you really the person for this? You senselessly attack human threads every chance you get... to the point that rebuttals from the most unpopular of posters on this forum gets liked.

Sounds like the gods even kept themselves hidden, even in their times... maybe.

It's understandable. If you are in power, you wouldn't want anyone to know all your secrets, lest they use them against you.

As for the Well, I let my Lav have it. I RP this as her not wanting anyone else to take the risk, but in truth, I am just curious as to what consequences this choice will have. So it is basically like: "Bound to an elven god forever? Creepy voices in my head? Knowledge no one else has? I AM IN." I tend to prefer "interesting" choices to sensible ones

Plus you get an awesome scene where you stare down a dragon.

For the reasons I just listed.

And that's incorrect too. I never visit human threads anymore. I avoid them specifically because I don't like to talk about them. In fact, I rarely venture outside the Solas thread or Dalish Support Group anymore (few times I do is mostly to lurk, like for the Dwarf and Dorian threads.) Reason being that I like to talk about things I enjoy and avoid conversations like this, so let's let it drop, ye?

So... your plan was to come into the Solas thread and proceed to bash the Dalish in return?

Perhaps if you spent a little less time on the thesaurus and a little more time on your reading comprehension skills, you wouldn't have misinterpreted the original post you were oh-so-cleverly trying to retort.

I thought the same too, but it was too late. I wanted to make my character the type that wanted to explore her beautiful forests, but she's not able because of the mark and now she'd had another burden, but then she regret it because she wanted to grow and stop ignoring how downhill her people actually are.
