So...anyone else who removed the vallaslin kinda regret the decision afterwards because their Inquisitor looks so bloody different without them? Like, jarringly so? I don't even know, she looks entirely different.
I don't regret it per se, but mine also looks very different; the June vallaslin wraps around the eyes, and without them she looks younger. Less fierce, more vulnerable. Which is fitting given the context in which they were removed, but still.

Gonna stick with it though, cause it's cool. And a bit heartbreaking.
Spoiler
That's....gonna take getting used to. A lot of getting used to. :S
Awww your Lavellan is so pretty!
Yeah it was quite the shock when I took mine off. Feel naked, but I like it. I kinda like the permanent reminder of the heartbreak. But I am weird like that.

Aw, thanks. I'm rather happy with how both my ol' Warden and my Inquisitor turned out.
Dat vallaslin doe. I got so used to it. Now...woah.

Yeah, at least my Falon'Din one was a bit more subtle anyway.
Wonder how someone using that full-Braveheart style Elgar'Nan one feels. That would be a change. ![]()

They do look different but on mine, I prefer her without the vallaslin from a purely looks standpoint. I don't imagine Lavellan dwelling too much on how she looks, but for at least a little while she'd probably be staring at her face and touching where the marks were, mourning. It's a stripping away of illusions, made so much more painful because of what happened after. I think she would try to see it as a healing pain, though. The truth will set you free. If only Solas had followed through on that.So...anyone else who removed the vallaslin kinda regret the decision afterwards because their Inquisitor looks so bloody different without them? Kind of ironic that the vallaslin marks adulthood and initiation into the Dalish mysteries, but the removal of them functions that way also. I think she wouldn't regret either ritual in the end.
Since we were posting Rilke, here's another quote from him that I hope she would apply to dealing with the Dalish after game time. I imagine that there would be an arlathvhen to discuss the events of the Breach and her being there would be a source of controversy, especially because of the vallaslin. It would reinforce to her that she's alone- she can't go back, and there's no one to go forward with except the one who won't take her with him. Somehow she has to find her way in that, though, and she will.
"Therefore, dear Sir, love your solitude and try to sing out with the pain it causes you. For those who are near you are far away... and this shows that the space around you is beginning to grow vast.... be happy about your growth, in which of course you can't take anyone with you, and be gentle with those who stay behind; be confident and calm in front of them and don't torment them with your doubts and don't frighten them with your faith or joy, which they wouldn't be able to comprehend. Seek out some simple and true feeling of what you have in common with them, which doesn't necessarily have to alter when you yourself change again and again; when you see them, love life in a form that is not your own and be indulgent toward those who are growing old, who are afraid of the aloneness that you trust.... and don't expect any understanding; but believe in a love that is being stored up for you like an inheritance, and have faith that in this love there is a strength and a blessing so large that you can travel as far as you wish without having to step outside it.”

Thanks, your's is nice too. Like the whole fiery yellow-eyes look.
That's how I feel about it, hence why I'll keep it.
Kinda disappointed that so few people seem to acknowledge it, though. Sera and Josephine did, but Cassandra didn't seem to despite people telling me she did.

I reckon my Inquisitor is pretty heartbroken about it, because my thought process is that right there, she was willing to remove them because she didn't really plan to return to the Dalish afterwards, because of Solas. She was starting to think of herself as less Dalish and more as just an elf in general, and she could go about that with him.
Now...well, so much for that. He's gone. And now who knows how her clan would look upon her for removing them, even if she explained it to them.
Damnit Solas, you could have at least chosen a better time. ![]()

I don't think I got that dialogue from Cass either. But I pretty much rushed to the end of the game after that last romance scene. And haven't touched it after finishing the game. Josie's reaction made me giggle.
I am disappointed at the lack of reaction as well. I appreciate that they added back all of the race options. But sometimes you can feel that they didn't put enough in for it. I was a dummy and got Lavellan's Clan killed my first PT. No one said a word. The Inquisitor does so much for their Inner Circle, but then no one bats an eye when her face changes and her Clan dies. I think that's the only thing in the game that really irked me.

Did you have Solas in your party after the break up? There's a banter glitch that makes banters repeat itself and Cassandra's banter with Solas on the acknowledgement of Lavellan's missing vallaslin happens to me all the time when I had Cass and Solas together in the party.

Anyway, if we are to find him, it'll most probably be in the DLC or in DA4 with a new protagonist.
Hopefully the Inquisitor is invited to the Arlathvehn by the Ralaferin or Lavellan Clan. That way we could see all the different clans together. That would be the best setting if we're looking for Fen'Harel.

I'm kinda spooked that my Warden just happened to have Mythal's vallaslin. Or, the DA:O equivalent anyway.
I shall never look at her Flemeth interactions the same way again.

Oh, it's a banter? I thought it was just something she's supposed to say.
That's problematic, because despite apparently fixing the party banter bug the most recent patch appears to have made it worse for me. Hmph.

And, yeah...finding him as anyone other than Lavellan feels like it'd be a bit of a disservice. Way too impersonal. There's a lot of potential for juicy drama that'd be thrown out the window if it was just a plot point saved for next game.
Though, with it being said his romance was just added later for tragedy...who knows.

So pile on the tragedy and then kick us in the face just to make sure we won't get back up? I really really like the idea of the Arlathvehn as a follow-up. I have a more difficult time seeing a non-Dalish Inquisitor being invited to one, but maybe they'll make an exception. Maybe the Dalish agents vouches for the Inquisitor?
This also would be the time that Lavellan clan's possible demise can be brought up properly. It was a bummer how there was no reaction to getting the entire clan wiped out in the war table missions.

I'm not sure, I don't think they ever said anything about the DAO tattoos. It looks quite a bit like DAI's Mythal one though, just a bit thicker. The DAO one and the DAI one both have the forehead-only variant like your Mahariel has and the full face one like mine, too. Just assuming, though.
