Coming to a public forum the last thing I expected was to find people with taste in music. My heart flies out to you. (and the others who joined in)

Coryphelus: <Sneering at the Inquisitor who has backed themselves against a trebuchet> Pull the lever, Gnat!
Inquisitor: <Pulls the lever. Mountain falls on Haven>
Coryphelus: WRONG LEVER!
WHY AM I OUT OF LIKES??!!
This is hilarious! I'm dying! XD
Garth David-Lloyd called us sweetheart. *swoons* ![]()
I don't think it's weird. The men, women, and children of the clan simply had the misfortune of having abhorrent hahren like Thelhen and the warleader as their guides, instead of someone like Keeper Lanaya or Keeper Deshanna Istimaethoriel.
Cool pic.
Yeah.
Before I read the book, I knew of the slaughter of Clan Virnehn from people here in this thread. Then when I read the part where the book mentions Dalish children practicing their bow skills and an elderly couple sleeping in one of the wagons and such, I was like, "Omigosh, these poor kids and old people are all going to die." ![]()
Oh, Weekes, why are you so good in making me sad? ![]()
YES, and that actually makes a good bitter Solavellan song too, now that you mention it.
YESSS, thank you. Badass song.
And I saw someone post perfect circle:
That one's my fav, and also fits with the "Holding on to how I picture you."

I found it strange that none of the characters showed any remorse over their actions leading to kids being boiled alive tbh.OMG! It exists! xD
BTW, I just reached the part in TME where Gaspard finds the bodies of Clan Virnehn after Imshael slaughtered them. Is it weird that I actually felt really bad for them? I know they acted like big jerks, but reading about how the "old and young, man and woman, warrior and cook, all lay slaughtered like broken toys" just made me feel so sad.Heck, I even had a hard time reading through how Michel fought and killed those Dalish guards.
Sorry about that, I just got the feels...
EDIT: Top page Solas!

I can't believe Fia skimmed past the shirtless Maynard pic without liking or commenting...the world has gone mad!
Joins in... 'Mayyynarrdd...' God that song brings me back. Used to drive around town with my best friend in high school, that album on repeat... I remember I made her drive me to the mall the day it was released so I could buy it (yes, I know, I'M OLD OKAY?) Had a huge crush on Maynard then. I blame him for my voice kink. And my attraction to slightly odd looking bald men... Gheh.
Yes, I used to drive around in high school feeling my feelings in similar ways. In fact I think my favorite Deftones' songs are about driving ("Be Quiet and Drive" and "The Passenger"). Also: The Cure.
Fialka: love your avatar picture. Francesca Woodman. Yes.
Not relatedly: Has anyone ordered a shirt from the Bioware store? What is the sizing like? I'm thinking of ordering the tarot shirt (you know THE tarot shirt), and I don't want it to be too fitted like it is in the pictures.

Who didn't, though? I remember the slow change the posters on my wall went through when I became obsessed with Tool - tiger beat cutie boys to like pictures of Maynard and Trent Reznor in like Downward Spiral phase even though I still had the same pink/green comforter on my bed. My room was a battle of girly and...metal?
Edit: Would love to see an AU drawing of Solas as the lead singer of an industrial metal band. Mmmm....

I stopped being a teenager a long long looooong time ago, but my room was 100% metal!
Edit: ToP Solas.

Awwww. Its like she pins a note to the coat.

I know. What's funny is that one of the few people who actually seemed to pity Clan Virnehn's death was Duke Remache ("I never expected to see the day that I pitied the elves for..."). Heck, even Gaspard felt the elves did not deserve that kind of death. ("He didn't look away. The Emperor of Orlais would not look away. But even the elves did not deserve this.") ![]()

I felt very bad for them. The Keeper may have been an ass and some of the guards were horrible, but they weren't everybody in the clan.

A few pages back someone posted a photo. It did seem a rather loose fit.
I have a racerback, I like it. Slim fit but not really tight.

It was a tragedy. Not only what happened to Clan Virnehn, but what befell the Halamshiral elves. I wonder how differently things might have transpired had Solas and Lavellan met before the Breach, and got involved in this crisis.
If Felassan really was working for a competitor to Fen'Harel, his reaction to Solas would have been priceless.
Finally! I managed to get the entire chess match between Solas and Iron Bull up on the DA wiki in Solas' dialogue section. That's probably one of my favorite conversations even though I'm not hugely familiar with chess.
I would like Cole's and Solas' convos more if they didn't confuse me. I keep thinking wtf are you two talking about?!
That's not precisely evidence, though. What it suggests is that they were getting close to something very, very big and very, very blighted. (Assuming they can tell the difference between the Old Song and the New. We have to give them that much credit, right?) The potentially false assumption here is that what they were being drawn toward was an Archdemon. But if it had been tainted, why wasn't it awake? And if it hadn't been tainted, how was it blight-calling to them?
My guess is that it wasn't actually an Archdemon. Could have been a primitive thaig overrun by cancerous red lyrium- a "lymph node" in terms of dwarves-as-immune system. Could have been the literal heart of the Stone itself, if you're willing to assume they just hear tremendously loud Song and can't tell the difference.
*shrugs* But that's just my take on it. Your mileage may vary.
I'm only thirty pages behind or so. *snorts*
The Architect confirms that the darkspawn hear the Song of the Old Gods as a purer Song than that of the Archdemons. They're drawn to its beauty, and when they touch it and corrupt it, they're drawn together by the Tainted Song. Going off of The Calling, it would seem that Wardens' Callings are indeed them getting attuned enough to their darkspawn side to hear the Old Gods' Song. Of course, the Wardens themselves don't have enough contact with untainted Old Gods to really say.
It's always been a pet theory of mine that, centuries ago, the First Warden took volunteers from Wardens going on their Calling. They would stay behind and succumb to the Taint, and use them in several nations simultaneously to triangulate the locations of the Old Gods in the Deep Roads. Once they ascertained the locations, these Wardens were euthanized at the end of their service to the Order. I don't see how else the Wardens could know the locations of the Old Gods.
The Abyss nearby, and the blighted and ruined nature of the Western Approach in general, suggests to me that the Warden expedition that failed was an old one. There are very interesting implications if the Wardens came by that area after Zazikel awoke and still heard the Song. (I'm assuming it was Zazikel as I don't see that many darkspawn overwhelming the area in the Second Blight without also waking up an Archdemon that's nearby.)
