I've noticed that too. Very interesting. Solas does tend to add a lot of wolf imagery into his paintings - it could be connected to that. Or maybe his spirit is the black wolf and that his representation of himself in the Fade? (either because he was there with Quizzy or he's just expressing how he would feel in the Fade.)
Going with the theories that Fen'harel sealed away the Taint/Old Gods/Creators away in the Black City, the eyes could also represent Fen'harel as Guardian and Jailor of the Black City. Watching over it over thousands of years.
*I don't know how to GIF so just imagine a magnificent Mad-Eye "CONSTANT VIGILIANCE!" GIF here. *
...Have you considered seeking a post in Arkham Asylum, Solas?
I giggled when Solas was a little excited asking if she was the leader of the mage rebellion. Also...
Spoiler
Is she Alistar's mother? I heard something about it but I think I missed something O_o
As Colonelkillabee said, yes, Fiona is. It's never explicitly mentioned in Inquisition, but the developers confirmed it before Inquisition was even released. You can read "The Calling" and see her hand over her son with Maric, and mention how he's human (since the children of humans and elves are human, for some mysterious reason that the developers suggest could be magical in nature).
Lol in typical batman fashion But nah... I'd have to kill him. Depending on what it is of course.
Even if tearing the veil down was beneficial, I can't honestly see too many people going "Oh, okay! Yea lets do it!" People are afraid of change. That's partly why my Warden didn't go with Morrigan.
That's assuming he even wants to do anything like that of course. Which as I said already, I don't buy it.
Batman's only bromance is with Supes tho. Only reason he doesn't kill the Joker is so he doesn't end up like him.
On the flipside I'd let Solas escape on the virtue that they're still very much friends. Rivals, but still friends. So I'd let him escape, and if he tries again, my Inquisitor would be waiting.
Oh yes! The Halamshiral elves have it bad too. Aaargh! So much sadness for the elves, I can't...
Maybe I should stop reading TME for now. I'm feeling depressed. (Plus, I need to go to bed.)
Oh! Speaking of Felassan, whenever the book mentions him in his hood and cloak and dressed like a beggar in his tunic and breeches, is it odd that I keep picturing him looking like Solas in his Hermit tarot card (except with vallaslin, of course)?
TME is really good. I actually like the whole moral ambiguity of the book and it's sad and dark without ever being gratuitous.
That's exactly how I imagine my Lavellan as well. An outsider. She was found alone in the forest by the Dalish after her parents had been killed. She never felt at home with the Dalish and often went into the forest to explore by herself, being gone for several days at a time.
With Katori, only her mother died, but her father was a hunter and rather distant. She took care of her brother during the day until he was old enough to become a hunter's apprentice, at which time she was left on her own a lot, but she found she kind of preferred it that way. Solas was the first person she was ever able to establish a connection with, which is why she was particularly devistated by his choice to leave her. I mean she had been able to develop friendships with some of the others by that time, but that wasn't the same thing. She was whole heartedly in love with Solas. He left her heart a gaping hole and gave her no explanation. She kind of went off the deep end for awhile, but she's better now. At least as far as other people can tell, she's better. She's still at war with herself about how she could **** up a relationship so bad...
Sometimes I get the feeling people forget that children and elderly exist in the setting. I also see this when the mage faction with Fiona is considered to all be adults. The Circles were full of apprentices; children, sometimes small children, and teenagers. Most of them not proficient at magic, and as likely to hurt themselves as others if forced into a confrontation. I recall some codex saying something about frightened untrained mage children being more dangerous than an adult trained mage. There's even characters like Minaeve, Connor, and others in Redcliffe who are there to illustrate that.
While I'm not that fond of Mihris, I never cared for how Briala and Felassan treated her after her clan was slaughtered. Just felt like a bit much. She was a teenager who had just seen everyone she cared for, her entire family be brutally massacred. And Michel killed her boyfriend, who was also the only one among the clan's warriors who was clearly uncomfortable with how Michel was being treated. (Considering how the rest of the clan died, I guess that was an unintended mercy.)
Cole and Solas apparently get great satellite reception from other worlds via the Fade.
It's very easy to assume that what we see in a video game is everything there is to the world. There's only so much a game can show, after all. So yeah, it's very easy to forget these things. It's why I wish there had been more NPCs who could actually be talked to in DAI to help give the feel of a living world. That was part of DA2's problem and one I had really hoped would be fixed with DAI.
I think Sashimi_taco's the god name part '' Ellana '' has some sense after thinking about how kieran talks to lavellan and if the inquisitor is not an elf.. he says that the blood of inquisitors does not belong to their people. Also Cole mentions her blood being old plus at the temple of mythal ONLY if you are an ELF Abelas says to you
'' You have the features of those who call themselves ELVHEN ''
If you are for example a human he doesn't say that. Odd right?
And even Solas mentions you to show him the wisdom he hasn't seen since the ancient elves.
JUST A COINCIDENCE? I DON'T THINK SO! I think we have some old elvhen blood right there!!!!!

I crush on her so hard. And you're right, I for one was and still am critical of Fiona and her mages, but my lack of sympathy before did have partly something to do with me thinking of them as all capable adults, not them, as well as the young and old.
I may have almost hurt myself laughing at the last one. Yeah, I had a huge facepalm moment when the Tevinter reveal happened, but I could understand why she did it. At least it wasn't an Orsino moment... I'm never going to be over that one.
Hawke: "We're *winning*! WTF. Thanks for the confidence."
Briala has a bit of a chip on her shoulder with the Dalish I think. She made a snarky comment to my elfinq, on top of spending the second half of TME rubbing salt in Mihris' eyeballs...
Lavellan: "Sorry for my face, just busy trying to save the world over here. For like, everyone."

Finn makes reference to some of the Dalish sharing the same blood as the Arlathan elves, and it's the reason why he wants to use Ariane's blood for his scrying ritual, so it's possible Lavellan may be descended from the ancient elves of Arlathan.
I really want to see an Arlathvehn. That would be the ideal setting for a Dread Wolf expansion.
Yeah it would be cool to take it a peek into the past. Maybe where we join Solas in the Fade and he can show us what it was like in the past? It would be nice to see the Elvhen society at its finest.

I would think all elves are descendants of ancient elves? Barring maybe one or two rare exceptions, but. Most elves were apart of the empire.
Yeah, unless we're talking hidden pockets like the Sentinels, all modern elves should technically descend from Arlathan. Even a non-Dalish elven Warden can ask Finn why his blood wouldn't work for the 'Lights' magic, and it's only because of the taint altering the blood.

Well, Elvhenan spanned the entire continent, while Arlathan was the capital, so it seemed like some of the Dalish elves are descended directly from Arlathan elves specifically; it seemed to be why Ariane couldn't ask Finn why my Surana Warden's blood couldn't be used instead, like Mahariel can during that scene.
Haha I haven't posted in a while, got totally immersed in my playthrough the past 2 days
I've done Solas' quest.. too bad he didn't even say a single word about it xD not even "thanks" XD
Now I've only got the 3 dragons in Emprise du Lion left (time to get my Keeper chest! ) and then I dunno.. I have only Arbor Wilds left to do.. but I don't want to, cause I'm not looking forward to what comes after :'(
I wish I could stop the time and just leave the quizzy there in Solas' room and just stand there and pretend they will live happily ever after XD
Anyway not relevant but since I was bored I made some icons for my desktop...
So I've got both my Trevelyan and Cullen, and Solas and Lavellan XD strategically placed so that it looks he is peeking at her So every time I alt-tab I get a silly smile just looking at that XD
Damn, what is this game doing to my brain...?

So apparently PW has bend getting a lot of hate on his Twitter feed. This makes me very sad. I may feel broken hearted as a direct result of something he wrote, but honestly, I love the man. He made us feel something. He made us care about someone. That is truly the mark of a good writer. I hope we are all behaving ourselves outside this forum as well as we typically behave in here. I'm sure we are. This is the nicest group of people on the Internet.

Yes, it sure sounds like that. I cannot really imagine what it is like but it might really make you feel bad. Like having to "conceal" that you're a girl (because I assume this is done to suppress discrimination of women?). But do people do this, in real life I mean, or is it just a political attitude that hardly ever finds practical application?
Actually, I never thought Sweden even had such problems. Scandivanian countries are usually used as a shining example of how good things can be.
Oh, we're very open with liberties, especially reagarding sexual preferances or religion. But sometimes that means it gets blown out of proportions/exagerated instead. Like with the Hen situation. And yes, it's used in real life not just a thought. Many daycares, especially in the capital, use it as a real term.
Well, I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking a power struggle of some sort. Could be the sons conspired to overthrow Elgar'nan and Mythal got into the middle of it somehow. Perhaps, she stood between them and an Elgar'nan who wanted to kill them, and so he killed her instead for revenge. Or maybe they sided against her with Elgar'nan, and betrayed her.
I just find it interesting, how her first children were male, but then she goes on to only pass her essence to females/ daughters. That would imply she feels betrayed specifically by males/sons. If Fen'Harel sympathized or sided with her, he could be an exception there. It's interesting how she seems to give her power to him willingly. I don't think she would trust just anyone. But perhaps she now also feels betrayed by a daughter (Morrigan), and so tables have turned.
Going along with madrar's Triad magic theory-- Husband/Wife/Lover.... it could also be a Father/Mother/Child scenario causing the split/conflict couldn't it?
Edit:
Spoiler
Could it be Falon'Din did end up eventually betraying his brother? There was already tension there between Mythal/Falon'Din.
Yeah, it's interesting that its always daughters with Flemeth(Mythal), never sons. But maybe she just never 'had' any sons. She seems very carring for Kieren though.
Flemeth's talking how both she and Mythal being betrayed by men when she meets the IQ in the fade.(?) And its confirmed that at least Flemeth was betrayed/fooled by a man. Maybe thats' why she doesn't trust the male gender.
Could also be that she'd female, and her essense only can be tranfered to one with the same gender. Wouldn't explain Solas though.
Could also haven been a lover's quarrel spinning out of control that started the conflict.(?)
Someone being unfaithful or loving the same woman, revenge beacuse of that and so forth. Would explain Solas's use of the words "puny fudes and vendettas"
Could sure need a bit of afterthought... *poundering*
Uhm... was this already shared?
*tingling all over* I just love that voice. (Husband greatly disapproves)
